    Dash bulb frustration

hi all, swapping out bulbs on my 94 4.0L xlt. My right turn signal bulb is not working, didn’t before. I get juice to the plug and also at the contacts (also continuity on the board) but the bulb won’t turn on. Moved around bulbs using ones I know work and still nothing. Any thoughts on what...

    Pitman arm install

Thanks roscoe. I was able to line these up, still didn't go in real easy. I had to tighten the nut to press on the arm a bit and then back off the nut and add the lock washer because there wasn't enough room to grab the threads with both on. This nut is going on like a bear, with significant...

    Pitman arm install

Hi all, I'm replacing my gear box on my 1994 ranger xlt 4x4 (4.0L) due to excessive play. I purchased a new pitman arm for the sake of it as well, so also not to deal with its removal, figured it'd be a bear after 23 yrs in the same position. Anyway, I lined up the wheels and secured the...

    Fuel sender issues

Following up on this post, I've been thru a bunch of tanks of gas, letting get as close to E as possible, keeping a can of gas on me, etc...still no change. Actually, now I'm getting big swings in the gauge, going from half full to 1/8 full when I have about a half tank. What do think may be...

    New Wheel Bearing Looseness

Took me forever to get this right, had to change a number of bearings over the years. The two nut system comprises of the first nut to get at the proper torque that allows the rotor to spin. Then put in the spacer. The second nut is the pinch nut that prevents the first nut from backing...

    Fuel sender issues

Thanks guys. The reading is accurate until 1/8 left. It just sticks then, same exact issue as the sender before. The voltmeter is not my friend, but I'll break it out if need be. First I'll jostle around the tank to see if there isn't a hang up.

    Fuel sender issues

Thanks for the follow-up, I was looking for those photos. My sender doesn't look like the one in your photo, but based on a youtube video of a guy changing one it's definitely in the right orientation. Thing that makes this strange is that this is the same issue as the last sender. I'll try...

    Fuel sender issues

Thanks for the responses! I replaced the entire assembly, and yes, it was an Airtex. Thing is, I replaced it before due to rot, and had a similar issue. I bent the shaft a bit trying to get it in that time, and figured that was the issue, so replaced it again. Gauge get stuck in the same...

    Fuel sender issues

Hi all, This is my second sender install on my 115K mi 94 XLT 4.0L. First change was due to rot, second change was due to error on the gas gauge, which I figured was do to me slightly bending the sender when installing. Installed the new one, no bend, and I'm still getting a reading that is...

    94 ranger stalling

Soooo, turns out it was low on gas. Filled it up and no problems. This leads me to a sender question, which I'll ask in a separate post. Thanks!

    94 ranger stalling

Hi all, I have a 94 ford ranger xlt with 110K miles, 4.0L. Had a fuel odor, and it turned out I had a hole in the fuel line as well as rotted out top of fuel sender. Replaced the line, sender, and pump. Thing is, now it stalls when cold. Especially when going in a new direction (I've...

    Intake manifold keeps leaking

Taking a hard look at the source of the leaks, my oil pan is leaking for sure, and I found a picture on this forum similar to the leak I'm experience. http://www.explorerforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=278434 Is this a rear main seal leak?

    Intake manifold keeps leaking

Leaking oil, checked there, no oil. have some sludge in the rear of the intake, but I don't know if its from old leaks. Cleaned the tranny area on Saturday, haven't driven since...no further oil buildup

    Intake manifold keeps leaking

Thanks for the input guys, I've done all those things in the past: clean surface, laid down plenty of proper grade sealant, let it tack up, bolted in sequence, tightened again later. I'm thinking that I have to properly diagnose first (duh), maybe that I'm missing another source of leak in the...

    Intake manifold keeps leaking

Hi all, Been a long time reader here, first time poster (I think). I have a 94 ford ranger xlt w/ 4.0L v6. I've changed the intake manifold gasket three times now and the leak does not stay away. It leaks from the rear closest to the firewall where one would apply sealant. There is some...

1994 ranger 4x4 light doesn't turn on when pushed, no engagement

oops, was looking at the 4x4 troubleshooting guide...so you suggest going right to the motor (I've looked around and folks say that is typically the problem)? I should also add that, although the module is acting like it's okay per the 4x4 troubleshooting guide, I don't hear any clicking...is...

    Help with my manual 4x4

I had a similar issue a few years ago, if the steering wheel wobbles like you have really bad ball joints, then it may be the u-joints...I replaced them and the problem stopped. Now if I can just figure out why it won't engage anymore, I'd be golden

1994 ranger 4x4 light doesn't turn on when pushed, no engagement

Added location... In the post, I can't find anything past checking the module. I don't hear a noise and would like to know what the next step in the troubleshoot would be. Thanks! Adam

1994 ranger 4x4 light doesn't turn on when pushed, no engagement

Hi All, First post...I looked through the sticky 4x4 troubleshooting guide but couldn't find my issue directly. I also tried searching the forum, but no luck. Here's the problem: For about 1,000 miles, the light for 4x4 on the dash was on, but it wasn't engaged...occasionally it would turn...
