    2004 Sport Trac 302 V8 Swap Prep

@COtoMI Thanks for the information!!! I was hoping the SCP bus WOULD work with the 04 Sport Trac cluster; the communication between the 5.0 PCM and the digital cluster. I assumed it worked similar to a ScanGaugeII. Crap, that might throw a wrench into things. Worst case, I can use a...

    2004 Sport Trac 302 V8 Swap Prep

All, I apologize as reply notifications to this thread were were going to my spam folder within my email. Give me a couple days and I'll have a formal update to this and see if I can give more clarifications to some of the questions. In addition to a wiring schematic for the 42-pin...

    2004 Sport Trac 302 V8 Swap Prep

Sweet! So literally everything necessary is figured out except.... Next item up for discussion, the annoying FPDM (Fuel Pump Driver Module). Some of the circuits stayed the same, but the routing of them changed. I need to look at this further later to develop a plan of attach to bypass or...

    2004 Sport Trac 302 V8 Swap Prep

Below is the most up to date screenshot of the Excel spreadsheet I have of the 42-pin connector mapping. (If anyone needs the actual Excel document, I'm happy to send it to you, just send me a PM.) I finally got the rest of the unknown circuits routed and traced out!!! I'm pretty pumped about...

    2004 Sport Trac 302 V8 Swap Prep

Ok, revisiting #1: 1. Just confirming, Pin 28 on the 2004 Sport Trac side does in fact NEED to be grounded out for the vehicle to start. (It used to go to the 4.0L PCM, which if PATS registered successfully, would ground that out within the PCM. Because the 2000 V8 PCM doesn't have that...

    2004 Sport Trac 302 V8 Swap Prep

Honestly, thats probably easiest. Dash, engine bay wiring, Key'd locks, everything. lol. Maybe a few interior wires to cut and splice, but that would be way easier! Sadly, that isn't an option on my 2004 Sport Trac. The firewall harnesses and even the cutout opening for that under the brake...

    2004 Sport Trac 302 V8 Swap Prep

Research Findings: 1. **Skipping this for now. We'll come back to it later.** 2. The alternator on the 2004 Sport Trac has its very own wiring harness. It goes directly to the BJB (Battery Junction Box). Some of the signal wires needed for the gauge cluster go into the firewall via the C139...

    2004 Sport Trac 302 V8 Swap Prep

@N2FORD Thanks man! The forum RangerSVT did for you was a huge help!! Thanks for being willing to keep an eye on this thread for me. I'll probably need it. @vroomzoomboom Thanks!! Dude, your "So you want to convert to a 5.0? 5L swap for dummies" forum was a huge help too!! Thats where I got...

    2004 Sport Trac 302 V8 Swap Prep

I wanted to update this thread with some more information that was shared with me. I reached out to "RangerSVT" (He is on a few other forums - Example of another V8 Sport Trac Swap he did: Project N2Ford, yet another V8 swap trac - Ford Forums & Technical Discussions) He was fantastic and...

    2004 Sport Trac 302 V8 Swap Prep

Still dedicated to this swap, just life always gets in the way and slows stuff down. Hobbies are always the first thing that get shelved when life gets a little crazy. Anyway, some progress is being made. Found out a couple of the wires jump to a different harness; the C139 on the Sport Trac...

Ford Sport Trac "Adrenalin" Audio Upgrade - Success!

@chiko gotcha. Yeah, in the Adrenalins, all speakers, front & back, & sub are driven by the amplifier. The head unit only does the processing. I am utilizing the stock Adrenalin amplifier, sub & door speakers and driving them off an aftermarket Kenwood head unit. Good luck man!

Ford Sport Trac "Adrenalin" Audio Upgrade - Success!

@chiko I am driving ALL inputs off the RCA's. You do NOT want to drive them off the speaker outputs on the aftermarket receiver. Doing so will fry your stock Adrenalin amp. Its just like an aftermarket amp setup, you only drive an aftermarket amp with RCA's. Same goes with utilizing the stock...

Ford Sport Trac "Adrenalin" Audio Upgrade - Success!

I decided to pull my stereo again to further clean up some of the wires. I didn't like the rca adapters with the screw terminals. The wires kept slightly sliding out and I felt like they could touch on the rear of the connector and potentially short something out. So, instead I finally broke...

Ford Sport Trac "Adrenalin" Audio Upgrade - Success!

One more picture correction. I had a rpm/fuel pump whine when the engine was running through the speakers and couldn't figure out where it was coming from. (yes, it literally took me 7 months to figure it out, lol) Even ordered a new stereo as the x799 i had was used and did go through an...

    2004 Sport Trac 302 V8 Swap Prep

Thanks man! I figured I'd rather do the ground work now and make the actually installation less crazy. I will keep this thread updated! Thanks!!! Yep, I'm just in the prep stages currently. I have actually 2 2000 explorers, both with the 302 v8 & AWD. The donor (black Limited) currently runs...

What did you do this weekend? Participation required

I'll have to do that!! Thanks!! I also need that foam tape to go between the bedsides and the underside of the topper. (The tailgate needs like 1-2mm more height between it and the cap to be able to close nicely.) Side note, I'll have to get a set of those Hijackers!!! I have the air monroe's...

What did you do this weekend? Participation required

I'll have to get better picture tomorrow. Picked up a nice black COLOR MATCHED Leer cap tonight off craigslist for $200! Including the installation hardware! (I just didn't have the tools to remove the tonneau cover catches and then install the cap's L-brackets, hence the ratchet straps) Has...

What did you do this weekend? Participation required

Picked up a 10,000lbs tow bar on craigslist for the sport trac, then the next Monday (took off work) Found a nice yakima roof rack (off a sport trac) and the elusive neutral tow kit that i needed with using the tow bar! $30 total for everything! (Picked up other wiring in preparation for a v8...

    2004 Sport Trac 302 V8 Swap Prep

OK! So, making progress. I AM able to retain the "Neutral Tow" feature when performing the V8 swap!! (So I am able to flat tow/dingy tow the Sport Trac with all 4 wheels down. - Again, I prefer a trailer, but I am trying to avoid tongue weight currently on my 1956 Scenicruiser bus conversion...

How to: 04+ Sport Trac Fog Light Mod (Stays on W/ High Beams)

Fog lights stay on when brights/high beams are engaged. **Do this mod at your own risk. I take no responsibility if you mess something up or violate any laws with performing this mod.** First, verify your fog light relay location. (Refer to owners manual.) The pictures used here are on my 04...

    2004 Sport Trac 302 V8 Swap Prep

Hey guys, Ok, so I own a Black 2004 Sport Trac 4x4 Adrenalin. It has 209,200+ miles on it and the timing chain is starting to rattle. If I have to remove the engine to repair it, the 4.0 isn't going to be reinstalled. I've been wanting to do a 5.0 swap into the Sport Trac for a long time now...

Mirror Swap Question: 06-10 Explorer Mirrors to 1st Gen Sport Trac/2nd Gen Explorer/Ranger??

Ok, I had a chance the other week. They do not fit. :( They could probably be made to work with a bit of work, but not a bolt on swap. The forward most bolt and the top bolt line up, but the bolt closest to the door glass is about 1/2"-3/4" closer to the door glass than the sport trac mirror...
