    Crank, no start

92 (94 motor) 4.0 5 speed. I am dealing with a crank but not firing issue. Put in a new fuel pump and fuel pump relay with no luck; when I went to poke around under the hood to check other connections I found this broken wire. Can anyone tell me what this is or where it goes? It looks abnormal...

    Fuel pump assembly

I noticed there's a plug on the return line at the end of the assembly inside the gas tank. Does that plug need to be removed? How does the fuel return?

    Working on a High Idle

Hi everyone! 92 4.0 Standard. So I'm chasing down a high Idle. After replacing the fuel pump, TPS, ECT and CKP sensor there isn't much change. It starts fine and wants to drop to normal idle, but then it jumps up to 1300-1500 RPMs. I decided to try pulling sensors and started with the IAC valve...

    Pissing coolant from passenger side

92 OHV Standard. Noticed a BIG wet spot underneath my truck after work. Radiator was basically empty. I topped off the radiator, started it without the cap on, got underneath and noticed a steady stream of coolant leaking somewhere from the passenger side. All the hoses are connected right and...

    Intermittent High Idle

I'm having an idle issue. My 92 5 speed had a wicked high idle, like it would hang at 2000 cold and slowly dropped as it warmed up. Changed the coolant temp sensor, thermostat and fuel filter and now it'll randomly idle at 1500. Sometimes it's normal, sometimes it'll get that cruise control...

    HELP! Fuel issue..

92 Ex w swapped 94 engine. Found the vacuum hose and clamp coming off the fuel pressure regulator yesterday along with a cracked, leaking vacuum line coming up to the vacuum tree; leaking gas like crazy onto header. To test where it was leaking I kept priming the fuel pump to get gas to come out...

94 OHV swap into 92. No spark.

I have someone swapping the motor out of my 92 5 speed with a 94. 92 ran just had a wicked knock. Just got a call that it isn't getting spark with the 94. A couple of threads I've found have concluded that switching the ICM has provided the spark needed to fire. I'm curious about what happens...

Rod knock? Engine toaat? w/ video

92 4.0 183,xxxx. Aftermarket heads installed in Mid-March. Have needed to add a quart of oil every 200-300 miles. For years the lifters would tick but quiet when warmed up. Last night constant ticking started, even when warm and at idle. And this morning it just got worse. Is this rod knock...

    Runs Like Crap after rebuild

Just did the heads on my 92 Explorer OHV and it isn't good. Smoke coming from the passenger exhaust area and sounds like its chugging. I have the wires and coil pack plugged in like the Haynes manual says... are the earlier pushrods same as older in firing sequence? So much work to turn out like...

    Ethanol Damage

Have what I expected to lifters knocking on a cold engine for the better part of three years in my '92 Ex. Always goes away when warmed up. Slight misfires on cold. Runs generally well-but sluggish when warm. Had my mechanic test the oil pressure for me today since absolutely no one had a setup...

    Broken valve cover bolt

I snapped the head off a bolt on the driver side valve cover. Luckily it's the "easier" side. Does anybody have suggestions on tools to use to get it out or have done the same thing and successfully removed the broken bolt? Greatly appreciate help!

Clutch pedal hit the floor. 2nd time.

92 XLT OHV. My clutch pedal hit the floor AGAIN this morning. Limped it to the mechanic's (just across the street Thank God) in second gear who helped me out with this issue two months ago at the beginning of April. (Clutch pedal had to be kept nearly on the floor while driving). Same...

    Stabilize/Lengthen TTB

My heart wants to keep the TTB in the 92 but my brain is struggling to understand. My TTB is lifted about 2 inches with Rough Country springs and the back has AAL and WAR 153 shackles; I don't mind it, it's a little rough to be honest though. The camber is maxed out with largest available...

    Oil sensors

Really tried to do my research on this because it seems help cannot be bothered lately. But my head hurts from searching. So far I have gathered there is one driver side near the power steering. Is this Part #F2AZ-6C624-B . Yes; have read the how to. Local stores (Advance, AZ) stock an oil...

    Gear Box supply list

Gonna try and change the gear box in my 92 Ex. Can't have it dumping as much fluid as it does in front of my customers homes. So far in my cart I have the Reman Box and a puller. Have a 30% off coupon. Do I need anything else? Odd sized sockets and such? I want to be completely prepared...

    92 low speed, accelerating squeak

My 92 is squeaking from <5 mph to about 15 MPH then will quiet. New Skyjacker Hydros up front, 2 inch lift. I read something about a TSB regarding a dust shield that squeaks but it only included something like 98-01 Rangers and Explorers; no first gen mention. Do we have something like this...

    '92 ex camshaft synchronizer

Good morning! Really trying to find info regarding 1992 Explorer camshaft position sensor and synchros. Are they only on 93-94 first gens, or did 91-92 have them as well? Will all that say they fit a 4.0 OHV 245cu. work? Thanks for the help!

    92 Rocker arm assembly

What options are out there for rocker arm assemblies for a 92? I don't want to increase valve lift or anything just make the cold knocking go away. Deltacam seems like they put it most of it together for you already

    Best replacement injectors

I think the the knock my 4.0 OHV has been experiencing is from an injector that is going. Two days ago I replaced the Bosch wires and NGK plugs with motorcraft wires and $5 motorcraft plugs. It has a noticeable miss on cold starts (like a fairly "weak" start, if you will) followed by knocking...

    2 inch RA drop brackets

I'm searching the forum looking to see if anyone makes RA drop brackets for a 1.5 - 2 in lift. I have Rough Country springs that are super stiff. I've drilled out the rivets to change bushings; just curious if there is something that fits in the stock holes to lower the cross member. Thanks!

    Spark plug kicking

Just put my hand on the driver side spark plug boot, closest to the front of the truck (Which one is that? 123456?) and it feels like something is seriously making some contact on the inside. I can feel it all the way through the boot. The other two plugs on that side felt smooth (no...
