2003 Explorer replaced IAC Valve now loud humming

Replace the IAC with a motorcraft one only. I used a Borg Warner one and it did the same thing, annoying loud humming noise from the intake. I compared the old to the new and the new BWD one was different on the inside air path. It must have been causing the air turbulence/humming noise.

    Fast Idle, help!

Get rid of the AutoZone IAC. I have tried AZ's and Borg Warners from Advance and neither worked as well as the Motorcraft ones.

    Before I Buy.....

Zero, the reason you blew the plugs might be because you used anti-seize and possibly ended up over-torquing the plugs. The torque spec is usually dry torque, adding anti-seize to the mix requires a significantly lower torque setting, just sayin'. OP, go with the v8, you'll with you had down...

    IAC Valve

Well, the battery was not the problem so I replaced the motorcraft one with a Borg Warner one. We will see what happens over the next few days.

2004 EB noise on cold start

Sounds like it could be the timing chaing tensioners. They use oil pressure to tension the chain. When the engine sits for a long time the oil bleeds out and has to fill again. This happens within the first few seconds of starting the engine and buildig oil pressure. There are threads...

    Only front brakes working

The easist thing to do is to see if the rears even grab when spinning the rear wheels. Get the rears off the ground and spin them be hand and see if they brakes seem to apply. You can also check to see iff you have brake fluid flowing to the rears by having someone hold the pedal down and...

Replaced front wheel bearing, but still have a noise.. your opinion?

replace the right front too. Mine did this a 4-5 years ago. I would have sworn on a stack of Bibles that it was the right front bearing making noise. I had both of them replaced to be sure. When I had teh old ones in my hand the left front was worse. I could no even turn it by hand.

Does Transmission Tune get lost when Battery is Disconnected ?

No it should not. "tunes" are falshed into the PCM memory and not lost when the battery is disconnected. some "learned" parameters are reset and that is why you need to do the relearn procedure.

    tps HELP

'04 has throttle by wire and with this there are 2 tps circuits. the two redundant circuits are required for safety margin. One circuit starts high and moves low as the throttle opens, the other circuit starts low and moves high as the throttle opens. I don't have any wiring diagrams so I...

    IAC Valve

I am reserving judgement of my motorcraft IAC. My battery suddenly (but not surprisingly it was 10 years old and original to the truck) died today. I am going to give it a few days to see how it goes, maybe the battery going kaput was doing something electrically.

    IAC Valve

I had problems with teh duralast ones. I got a motorcraft one and it was better. 13 months later, the motorcraft one is going again. I am fed up with the crap. Everytime it is the same thing. It gets hot out and the longer I drive the truck the higher the idle speed gets.

Rough idle and hesitation from stop

HAve you cleaned the throttle body? If not you should do so. The '04's have a trhottle-by-wire system that allows the vehicles PCM to control idle speed by opening and closing the throttle body itself. There technically is no IAC on your truck. Carbon-ed up trhottle body bore and blade can...

ABS Light on, drivers side rear wheel locked, all others moving

the rear wheel is locked than either the caliper is seized and locking up the rotor, the parking brake is stuck on, the wheel bearing is locked or the differential is messed up and locking that axle and allowing the other to spin. Start by taking the caliper and rotor off to see if it moves, if...

Power Stop rotors & pads kit Questions?

I really wanted to upgrade last year as I needed new brakes anyways. You can't beat the whole kit for the price. You almost can't buy a pair of front power slot rotors and Pads for what you pay for front and rear powerstop kits.

Power Stop rotors & pads kit Questions?

Power Stop has two different kits. the regular kit and a towing kit. According to Power stops's web site the K2772 is the regular kit. I cannot find other kits part number on powerstops website so I assume that is the Extreme truck and tow kit. I have the regular Power Stop kit on all four...

Issues with Idling after sensor replacement

Put the old vacuum solenoid back in and see how it runs. Usually a P0401 is set due to a failed DPFE Sensor which actually measures the flow in the EGR system. They are very inexpensive and easy to replace.

    Engine/transmission mating issue

Typically the engine and transmission should bolt flush together and the torque converter will still move when it is not bolted to the flex plate. that is to say you can push the TC forward and rearward a little bit. unbolt the TQ from flex plate and see if you can push it back and forth. If...
