    epc blowoff valve question 5r55e

Never mind. I found it. One was silver and one was black. I discarded the silver one and the spring. Also the screen. (Per the tsb instructions). VB is back in, now on to torqueing.

    epc blowoff valve question 5r55e

Thanks drdoom, Yes, i realize that. As i mentioned, i was wanting to know where in the maze to locate them. Like for example next to the.tcc solenoid, or under the screen, or possibly a reference point in relation to the bolt numbers in the torque diagram . With all the loose parts, i just dont...

    epc blowoff valve question 5r55e

Hi all, Replacing the separator plate (1L5Z-7Z490-HA) and new blowoff valve upgrade (3L5Z-7M203-JA). I have the tsb instructions for the valve , but I am not clear on which parts to throw out. Step 6 says remove and discard the epc limit screen, epc limit valve (silver color) and spring (figure...

Still have P0741 after replacing TCC solenoid

Thanks. Is it something that can be tested to see? is it part of a new rebuilt bb or separate component that can be changed? New TC means tranny out.

Still have P0741 after replacing TCC solenoid

More info after test drive Brought it to the shop and they read the P0741. Cleared it, but it came back (intermittent). Works fine when light is off. When light flashing, it clunks as it goes below 20mph when slowing down. Adding some more info Took it on a test drive to see if I could...

Still have P0741 after replacing TCC solenoid

I'll have to clear the code and try, but it did seem to wait a bit before coming back last time. Not sure what I would have seen to indicate a blown VB seal, but everything looked real clean down there. Wouldn't you need to remove the VB to see the seal (gasket)? My understanding (but I...

Still have P0741 after replacing TCC solenoid

Hi all, been a while since I've been around, (put a mustang motor in my 98 explorer, rebuilt rear end etc. with a lot of help from this site). Now I have an issue with the 5r55e (code D) transmission. The o/d off light started flashing and it clunked as it went below 20mph while slowing down...

    Mustang SOHC engine swap coming...

Injectors Did you use the explorer fuel injectors? I had to remove tbe hard rubber insulatos to fit the mustang head configuration. The extra computer wants the ex injectots. I show pictures in my thread. I also used ex plugs

    Engine swap 98 sohc

breather on mustang motor It's a real easy fix if you just use the explorer valve covers. There is a plug in the mustang block where the breather goes. Just punch a small hole and pry it out. the breather box fits right in. If I recall (but my memory is getting weak with age), there are other...

    Mustang SOHC engine swap coming...

mustang motor swap Not sure if this is the way to do it, but I copied and pasted the url: http://www.explorerforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=286856 If this doesn't work, go to repair / 1995-2001 / stock / engine swap 98 sohc. It's a long thread (9 pages) but here is the summary below...

    Mustang SOHC engine swap coming...

oil pan I can confirm that the oil pan from the 05 mustang was OK, but the oil filter adapter would not work due to a slight angel difference. Had to use the explorer adapter to clear the header pipe. If the 06-10 are the same, then the pan (pans) should also be OK.

    Mustang SOHC engine swap coming...

mustang swap By the way, if you can swap an explorer motor in a few days, you will be a hero in my book. I found it to be a pain in the butt, very limitted space, and lots of rusty bolts.

    Mustang SOHC engine swap coming...

mustang motor options for the ex I can't say about the 2007-2010. My research said 2005-2006 were the same as explorer. That is what I used (a 2005 with 41k miles). Truck is running great with it. My experiences are outlined in my thread "engine swap 98 SOHC". Maybe someone else knows about...

    Rear End Whine

Next....go Exploring Thanks IMP, I have driven it about 100 miles and still quiet. I'll give it 500 miles and open it up to change the oil and check on those carrier bearings. I hope "not" to be tearing anything apart for a while. On a side note, the Mustang motor is doing fine as are the...

    Engine swap 98 sohc

All is good "On The Road Again" It's running great. That new motor is strong. Someone asked before about mpg. It got 17+ on the first tank (combined highway/city). Went back and got a std american 3/16 brake line. Crazy, it's the only American thread on the truck. Rear end back...

    Rear End Whine

Done It's done. Quiet as a church mouse. No more whine or vibration on coast or drive. It was warm to the touch after a run on the freeway. Hope that's normal. REVISED- It's actually fairly hot after a 35 mile trip. I could hold my hand on it for 2 seconds then had to remove it. I'm...

    Rear End Whine

seal leaks Everything is buttoned up, but I have 2 more things to do. That stupid brake line. I brought it to NAPA, and he threaded it into a metric nut and said that's what I need. So I bent it nice and went to install it, it will not thread into the junction. I don't know if I am madder at...

    Engine swap 98 sohc

Another hidden problem- brake line When I was working on the rear diff, I barely touched the brake line and it started weeping fluid. It is the piece that runs between the rear wheels up and over the pumpkin. This one is not too hard to do, just a lot of crazy bends. What really has me...

    Rear End Whine

Clarify EDIT- We must have been writing at the same time. I see you adressed these questions. Every thing is quiet and smooth. No noise. Just tighter than I expected. My first one. Hi imp, thanks but I might not have explained myself properly and didn't follow some of yor comments. Let me...

Preload reading after carrier installed Let me be more specific about my last post. The pinion torque went up 9 lbs. to 38 after the carrier was preloaded. Is this OK?

    Rear End Whine

Setup done-Not sure about some stuff Good news is the setup is done. Bad news is I barely touched the brake line and it started leaking. I will need to get to that next. I hope there are not any more rusted lines up in the frame. They look a bi%@* to get to. Final numbers: Backlash .009...

    Rear End Whine

Dry Fit looks good Torque wrench came today at work. I worked on it for about 2 hours tonight. I drove in the new races, assembled the pinion without the crush sleeve, and loose fit the carrier with just the original shims which were ground flat, about 10 thou less than original (they were...

    Rear End Whine

Shim Driver Couldn't find a shim driver anywhere except on line. Too late now. One Gear shop I spoke with said they don't use them. They just pound the carrier in. Any insight on where to hit it? Sequence? Keeping everything square while forcing it in? How to keep the shims centered? Thanks

    Engine swap 98 sohc

Rear end I don't know, just stubborn I guess. I did consider it, but the ones I found were $400 plus $120 for a pair of axles. I think I am just too tired to do more heavy lifting and cutting rusted bolts. Plus, who knows if the used rear would have a bad pinion bearing or carrier bearing. I'm...
