    Its the sohc. The compression ranges from 165 to 170 on all cylinders. The wires were changed plugs changed and the coil replaced.

    REPLACED UPPER AND LOWER INTAKE GASKETS REPLACED THE number 6 INJECTOR WITH A NEW ONE AND ALL INJECTOR O RINGS. Still get the 6 misfire code 306. Can anybody suggest what to do next???

    I could try the injector cleaner again. Tried that before and it didnt work. When I pulled the 6 plug it was a little black.

    Ive been messing with this for over a year. 2001 4.0 6 cylinder misfire detected. I put new plugs new coil and wires on it with no results.     I am having the same problem as you on my 2001 explorer with the 4.0 6cyl . My code keeps coming up number 6 misfire. New plugs ,wires, coil and the compression check was 165 to 175 on all cylinders. Same code pops up. Runs crappy at low idle. If I can come up with something ill let you know.

    Didnt get a chance to check compression yet but fixed the hard starting problem. The air filter was bad. Cant believe I hadnt changed it in a couple of years. Put a new one in and it starts great.

    My explorer starts great when cold. When hot it needs to crank 20 or more times , almost like its flodded. I changed plugs wires and coil. Reset the code. It came back. I took it to a garage who changed the plugs and ran a cleaner through it to clean injectors. Charged me 400. The code was back...
