Have to disable the the remote keyless entry (fob controlled) on my 2002 Explorer

I had my keyless entry fob (the only one I had) stolen from my house recently and have to disable the keyless entry system as soon as possible. Until I can get a replacement fob, I'll just be using the door lock key which is no big problem. How can I disable the system though? Reading online...

How can I disable keyless entry on my 2002 Explorer?

I read one thread here on this board that said I could disable the keyless entry by unplugging the RAP module. The problem is that I don't know how to locate the PAP module and, when I do find it, is there a main plug on it that I can just unplug or do I have to disconnect certain wires?

How can I disable keyless entry on my 2002 Explorer?

Yeah, the problem is that the fob that was stolen is the only one I had, so now I have none to work with. I'd be happy to just use the key to open the doors from now on if I can somehow disable the keyless entry. Anybody have any ideas on how to do that?

Recommendations on a reliable transmission repair shop north of Boston. And is it worth fixing?

Thanks for the help and suggestions, friends. After reading your posts and mulling it over for a while, I decided to look for a shop near me that sounded like it might do a rebuild for a reasonable cost. I finally located one and will have it done within the next couple of weeks if all goes as...

How can I disable keyless entry on my 2002 Explorer?

Recently the keyless entry fob for my 2002 Explorer was stolen from my house and I'd like to disable the keyless entry on the truck altogether as soon as possible since I really don't mind just using the door key. How can I do this? I did a few searches here on this forum and haven't found...

Recommendations on a reliable transmission repair shop north of Boston. And is it worth fixing?

My 2002 2WD Explorer wont engage when I put it in reverse (the other gears seem to operate as usual), so I have to find a reliable transmission shop that will give me a fair price and fix the problem too. Cost is definitely a factor. I live on the north shore of Massachusetts and am looking for...

2002 Explorer 2wd wont engage in reverse

What year and model did you do the rebuild on, Aaronas?

2002 Explorer 2wd wont engage in reverse

Thanks for the advice and suggestion, JK080. I've been trying to locate a reliable transmission repair outfit within a reasonable distance from my house here. I found one of your earlier posts on this site where you mentioned that the reverse band might be broken or the lining off. Cost is...

2002 Explorer 2wd wont engage in reverse

Procedure calls for adding oil from below by pumping it up into the transmission pan while having the engine running and transmission warmed up. Then you disconnect the the pump hose and see if a steady stream of oil starts pouring out. If it does, you should allow it to pour out until it...

2002 Explorer 2wd wont engage in reverse

Hi Aaronas, It's in my garage so it's really at outside (ambient) temperature. With this year Explorer, you have to pump fluid into the transmission pan's bottom using a special adaptor (a drain plug with a nozzle on it to attach the pump hose). Yes, there has been some signs of leakage around...

2002 Explorer 2wd wont engage in reverse

Just thought that I'd reboot this post to see if anyone out there has some advice. Please post if you have any suggestions. I'd really appreciate it.

2002 Explorer 2wd wont engage in reverse

Two days ago, I started to back out of a parking space in my 2002 Explorer 2WD and it would hardly move. The forward gears seemed to engage without any trouble once I got it clear of the parking space. I managed to add a couple of quarts of Mercon V transmission fluid today (Not an easy thing...

Procedure for adding transmission fluid? Link or Advice?

Yeah, TG, I guess that's what I'll have to do. With my lightning reflexes, I'm guessing I'm gonna have oil slopped all over the place but that's the way it goes. I'm going to order the replacement plug online and it should be in within a few days. Thanks for the suggestion and I'll post when...

Rear wheel squeak on my 2002 2WD Explorer

I just wanted to follow up on this. Last week I jacked up and checked the wheel and it turned out to be that the bearing was totally shot. I'm 71 years old with a screwed up shoulder and in need of a knee replacement, so doing a job like this in my garage wasn't really an option. Ended up...

Rear wheel squeak on my 2002 2WD Explorer

Thanks, TG (again). If it does turn out to be the bearing, it looks like buying the whole modular unit is my only way to go if I'm going to try to do it myself.

Procedure for adding transmission fluid? Link or Advice?

I appreciate it, TG. Looks fairly straight forward. But I still think Ford's decision to eliminate the dip stick here was moronic. Anyway, thanks for the help.

Procedure for adding transmission fluid? Link or Advice?

Thanks, fordysenior. Just what I was looking for. Will buy that filler tube and see if my mechanic can add some transmission fluid. A big help!

Procedure for adding transmission fluid? Link or Advice?

I've got a 2002 2WD Explorer with a 4.0 L SOHC V6 engine that has a very slow transmission fluid leak. I'd like to check the fluid level and top off the fluid if necessary. Have been trying to find a how-to thread on this forum using the search engine but haven't had any success finding one...

Rear wheel squeak on my 2002 2WD Explorer

I've got a 2002 2WD Explorer and the left rear wheel developed a squeak recently. It usually starts squeaking a couple of minutes after I start moving. When I had bearing problems in the past on other vehicles, I usually jacked up one side and rotated the wheel to check for play or grinding...

    Radiator Hose Damaged

Thanks, friends. But, TechGuru, is it really important to use one of those three specific coolants, or will other brands do the job also?

    Radiator Hose Damaged

Thanks very much, IIGood. After reading your post, it sounds like it might be a good idea to replace both hoses at this time since I'm going to have to drain/replace all the coolant anyway.

    Radiator Hose Damaged

I've got a 2002 Explorer with 4.0 liter engine and, while trying to replace the tensioner pulley of the serpentine belt today, I noticed that one of the radiator hoses (the one running from the bottom of the coolant reservoir to the lower right side of the radiator) had been laying up against...

    Replacing Serpentine Belt and Tensioner

I've had a problem with a squealing noise from my serpentine belt lately and want to replace the belt and tensioner on my 2002 Explorer (4 Liter engine) and have a few questions. First of all, I can't really get under the truck to get at the tensioner or belt (age and health issues), so I'll...

New Battery & Starter But Still....

Thanks, imp and TechGuru. Would have posted sooner but a friend had sort of an emergency yesterday, so I couldn't get back on the truck until later this afternoon. The Rock Auto web page link that TG posted included another link to this page: Before Buying a New Alternator, Read These...
