1992 Explorer XLT 2WD with 215,000 miles and over $10,000 of repairs.

I don't think I can get the much. For the last 5 years, I've only repaired the stuff that is essential to keep the car running. Even my A/C doesn't work right now.

1992 Explorer XLT 2WD with 215,000 miles and over $10,000 of repairs.

You guys might be right, maybe I am complaining to much. My wife has a Honda with twice as few miles. I guess when she hits 215,000 I can do more of a comparison. Thanks for your insight. BTW - I got my car smog checked in California and it passed again, but barely. I'm hoping it will...

1992 Explorer XLT 2WD with 215,000 miles and over $10,000 of repairs.

$10K is a lot. The truth is most of the money went to the Ford dealer. I've learned to never go to the dealer. They charge more then double what my mechanic charges me. Actually somebody told me the only time they go to the dealer is for oil changes and only if they have a coupon. Then...

I think you forgot to factoring in the cost of the car and the interest I paid to the bank. I wished I only paid $26 a month.

I had a Mazda RX-7 Turbo, it was terrible also. I heard only Honda and Toyota are good.

1992 Explorer XLT 2WD with 215,000 miles and over $10,000 of repairs.

Regarding the transmission, that was repaired at 130,000. I was pretty diligent on changing the transmission fluid since it was obvious when to change that. It's not like engine oil where most people think it has to be changed every 3 months, when the instructions says 6 months. My other cars...

1992 Explorer XLT 2WD with 215,000 miles and over $10,000 of repairs.

Haven't you ever heard of people say they drove a Toyota or Honda for over 200,000 miles and never had a problem but regular maintenance? I can't say these people are telling the truth, but I hear it often.

1992 Explorer XLT 2WD with 215,000 miles and over $10,000 of repairs.

I purchased my Explorer 19 years ago, brand new for $21,600 out the door. Since then I've added over $10,000 of repairs. These are repairs and not the regular maintenance. I'm curious on what other people have spent on their aging Explorer. Here are the things that broke in the last 19 years...

How to rabs replacement or bypass with pix

Thanks a million!!!! I have a 1992 Ford Explorer XLT with 2WD. I was ready to dump this car because the brakes were driving me crazy. First the brakes were obviously weak and felt very soft. So the mechanic removed the wheels and my brakes were almost metal to metal. I paid to get new...

Thanks guys for the help. I also got somebody who mention this thread. does it sound correct???? http://www.explorerforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=60093 There is a bleeder valve on the RABS module, now this is a RABS module and not a ABS module correct? It mounts on the drivers side frame...

changed master cylinder and still weak brakes???

I have a 1992 Ford Explorer with over 200,000 miles. The car is stock with 2 wheel ABS brakes. The problem is the brakes are really weak. The brakes were inspected by a mechanic and everything looked fine. Then the mechanic tried to bleed the brakes. The front brakes bleeded fine, but the...
