Interesting, pretty much wherever we tow this trailer it will be in hills/mountains. We are in northern CA and all the decent campgrounds are in the foothills and mountains.

Local dealer ran my vin and confirmed the larger axle ratio, truck has mfg tow package, but dealer could not confirm which one. It has a standard hitch receiver (not the small one) and wiring to bumper. Searching the site for "transmission issues" has got me concerned about towing. Thanks...

Thanks, I have the manual and it says 5,500lbs trailer. Guess I'm just being cautious, this truck is my work vehicle so I don't need any issues.

on a right rear speaker grill on a 98 XLT Explorer. I've looked at many parts sites but "speaker grill"/speaker/grill/cover produces nothing. Is it called something other than speaker grill or speaker cover? or has anybody had to replace one?

The 4WD H and 4WD L lights were also flashing on the dash.

Are you supposed to hear or feel anything when you switch from AUTO to 4WD L? I stopped in neutral and flipped the switch, didn't hear anything. I'm used to the floor shifter in my tahoe, so that was weird. It "felt" like it was in 4WD, but it was just weird to not feel it engage.

Anybody? I've never owned an Explorer, was hoping for maybe one or two things to look for specific to the Explorer.
