    Need help with vibration diagnosis

Sorry, I thought I posted. I replaced both ujoints in the rear driveshaft. The front ujoint was tight and looked good, but I replaced it anyway. I figured with 152K on it, it wouldn't be a bad idea. The rear ujoint had no needle bearings left in one cap. Hence the play in that ujoint...

Yeah. Parking brake was set, plus the front wheels were blocked.

    Need help with vibration diagnosis

I did some more checking, since the more I thought about the issue, it seemed like to me it was a ujoint problem. Turns out, I do have some play in the axle end ujoint on the rear dshaft. I put the tranny in neutral with the parking brake set and twisted and wiggled the shaft and could see the...

    Need help with vibration diagnosis

Stock 2000 Explorer XLS/4 door/4x4/5 speed auto/4.0 OHV. 150K miles. Once I get up to about 30MPH and above and am just cruising along, with my foot lightly on the gas pedal, there is a vibration. There is like a humming/groaning associated with this vibration (maybe it is the noise the...

    Swapping factory radios......help.....

According to this thread.... http://www.explorerforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=25999 the 19B165 radio is a.....Premium AM/FM/Cassette (1990-97), while the 19B132 radio is a......Midline AM/FM/Cassette. Here is some more info from that same thread on decipering the radio numbers...

    Swapping factory radios......help.....

Ok, I got everything hooked up and working. I ended up using the Metra connector that fit the bigger amp connector, and cut the connector on the other end of that Metra harness off. I ended up modifying the square Metra connector so the square connector from the amp would plug into it, rewired...

    Swapping factory radios......help.....

So you are saying what Ford lists in the owners manual as a "premium" radio is not the actual premium sound system? I was just going by what the owners manual and this thread http://www.explorerforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=25999 was telling me..... -19B165- Premium AM/FM/Cassette...

    Swapping factory radios......help.....

The number on the radio checks to a "premium sound" (non-mach) radio. Although it does have a clock button and no rds button. It is also the same radio that is in my 2K explorer than does not have a sub. I have looked at several ranger sites and internet sites that sell OEM radios....no...

    Swapping factory radios......help.....

I have found that the amp will not work, if I am feeding an already amplified signal into it. Since I am pretty sure the "new" radio I am trying to put in has a built in amp, I found an amp bypass harness and (once I find the amp) I will plug it in to see if I can get everything to work then...

    Swapping factory radios......help.....

Thanks for the response, but the only thing Crutchfield can tell me is what harness I need to use to put and aftermarket stereo in my vehicle. They are no help when it comes to swapping from one factory stereo to another, and dealing with factory amp issues/questions. I already have the...

    Swapping factory radios......help.....

I've got a 97 Ranger with the Premium sound system (I guess)......AM/FM/cass with the CD changer controls on the radio, but no CD changer. Number on the radio is F57F-19B165-CER. I bought a dual media (AM/FM/single CD/cass) radio from a 2001 (IIRC) Explorer and am trying to swap it into my...

    dana 35/dana 44 knuckle/spindle swap questions

Some people have problems with the front wheel bearings on the D35s, when running large tires and/or offset wheels. The D44 bearings are spaced farther apart on the spindle, therefore it usually alleviates the bearing problems.

    dana 35/dana 44 knuckle/spindle swap questions

Ahh yes, thanks for refreshing my memory......it has a key. Sometimes the nut will be turned against the key and bind it up, and it won't come out. So you may have to barely turn the nut, either left or right, to get it away from the key, then the key should slide right out with a magnetic...

    dana 35/dana 44 knuckle/spindle swap questions

It's been awhile, since I've had to work on my Ranger, but....I don't recall there being anything unusual about removing the nut. Let's see....does it have the "star" washer sandwiched between the nuts, that have the tabs bent over the outer nut? If so, you need to bend any tabs back up and...

Got a '87 sammy from the auto swap this weekend!

I can't remember which sender is which, off the top of my head. On mine I had one that was broken and I believe I looked at the wire colors coming off the sender to determine which one I needed (need a wiring diagram w/wire colors on it). So you don't even have a dome light? Just wires...

Got a '87 sammy from the auto swap this weekend!

I assume the 2 senders you are referring to, are the senders that mount in the top of the tranny. One sender is for the reverse lights and the other is a 5th gear indicator sender (IIRC). The reverse sender can be bought new from O-Reillys (auto parts store) for around $17. The dome light...

    '97 Ranger SC, D44 SAS...

No, I don't know who drives the SAS white Ranger. I am not in OG much. I'll have to check it out next time I'm in town though. How much lift and how big of tires does it have (guess).

    Prepping for clearcoat...........

Actually I have thought about removing it. I already removed half of it (the other half was PINK!!!!!). But I kinda like the purple on black. It is starting to loosen around the edges a little. So when it starts to peel...off it comes.

    Prepping for clearcoat...........

Yea, I know it's not going to be high quality. Yes, rattlecan clear. I noticed some clearcoat cans say "crystal clear" is there a difference?? If so, can the non-crystal clear be polished to make it "crystal clear"??? Don't they make different "types" of clearcoat? I thought I saw some...
