Thanks for your help i was fixing to work on the od bands but the truck was still warm after being used today turn out it was nothing more then the 5 pin wire on the drive side wasn't pushed down all the way.

So this weekend I went and pulled a a4ld wanted a m50d but wasn't able to fine one. The old a4ld was slapping and some times not shifting back down or back into first. Used my old torque converter with the replacement A4ld. Got the swap done around 7 tonight. Use it to take my buddy back home...

Looking for a Good 4ALD near NC, was thinking about a m5od and if some one had one with all the part to change over for the right price i would jump on that but other then that a good 4ald would be fine.

Sweet thanks for the help so far, for what little i can find the clutch should work but the big question is would the clutch petal work?

Sorry about that I meant the M5OD-R2. A little more information on the transmission. It would be coming out of a 99 4x4 with the 4.0 2 Door sport model. Thanks for the link I will take a look at it.

My 4ALD is on it's last leg and am planning on doing the five speed swap this summer on it. I found a parts truck that am looking at a 99 4x4 with the M5OD-RD in it. I feel like i would half to use the transfer case form the 4ALD. But shouldn't the clutch and petals blot right up?

Seen it post on parts that could swap over, My question is has anyone changed to a second gen Dash. The hardest part would getting the speedo to work every thing else you could rewire. I would use the same heater controls and radio. So that just leave the gauges 4 wheel drive buttons lights rear...

Well the truck isn't on the road yet was going to put it back on the road Wednesday but after installing the front shock and a new belt it started leaking it lest it wasn't on it first trip out. The radiator looks to be new and the water pump does also I'll try and take a better look at it...

I didn't even think about them when the motor was out :( o well this is something i will do next time for sure. The leaking is on the back side of the motor best i can tell its on the passenger side. I read some where you can pull the interference off and get to them.

Just a quick question I know anything form the ranger and explorer form 1991-1994 will work. I have also been told the 93-94 motors where a bit better then the 91-92 motors. Shouldn't the 4.0 out of the second gen explorer work also. Seem like all you would half to do is swap motor mounts out...

I did check the transmission today there was leak coming for the new rad because it was missing a oil ring for the cooler lines but that fixed now. Thanks for the input so far every one

Am i wrong in thinking that some of the 2ng explorer 4.0 motor will also work just half to change the mounts out right? Seem like i read that some where. The one thing i do like about doing a head change is new gaskets other then the oil pan.

What I do know is before anything could be done the water pump leak has to be fixed, the leak is bad. I have also noted lot of white smoke form the tail pipe the history of the motor is unknown. I have priced new heads and the head bolts and gasket kits which would be more then i payed for the...

I just picked up a 92 explorer that has very little rust on it. It show that it has around 88000 but am going to guess that's 188000. The antifreeze and oil have mixed in it so am guess the head's are cracked. This is dew to the fact that the water pump is leaking like crazy so am guessing that...

I have looked at the limit of the towing for my 93 explorer on the bumber the question is can i tow a zx2 on it. I don't see rust on the mounts anywhere on it.

Thank you so much that fixed it took me a hole 5 min with test driving it twice to make sure it was adjusted right. Hate that I replaced the other parts but at lest there new :).
