diagnose cause of loose steering (video included)

I drove mine for 9 years that way. I noticed it at first but then got used to it and considered it normal.

    Engine overheats when Idling

For whatever it's worth, I had the same problem on my 94 Eddie Bauer with the 4.0 at about the same mileage. I installed a new radiator, new fan, new water pump and nothing helped. I just wanted to let you know that your problem is not unique. I never did find the cause.

Water leaking on drivers side floor

My 1994 Eddie Bauer Explorer leaked into both the the driver's side and passenger floor pans from the air intake channel that extends the length of the windshield and just forward of it and the firewall. The outside air enters through the perforated area between the windshield wipers. By using a...

    COOLANT BOILING

Check for a head gasket leak. The combustion gases can make it overflow and look like boiling. The fact that the coolant temperature is not too high points to this.

    Anyone still driving 2nd gens?

For my 94 EB I keep a small can of oil base point and a small paintbrush. I'v kept my roof channels from rusting through by painting over the rust areas once or twice a year. I've kept my going for 11 years now with no rusting through.

    Anyone still driving 2nd gens?

On my white 94 EB in Florida, I keep a small can of white oil base paint with a small paint brush. I periodically paint over the rust that develops and have kept it in order for nine years so far. I don't bother to remove the rust. It disappears under the paint and the deterioration is...

Towing a U-Haul 12 foot trailer through Kentucky.

I went back and checked to find that any Explorer earlier than 2011 will be rejected with this statement: U-Haul has chosen not to rent behind this tow vehicle based on our history of excessive costs in defending lawsuits involving Ford Explorer towing combinations. This policy is not related...

Towing a U-Haul 12 foot trailer through Kentucky.

Unless U-Haul has recently changed their policy you likely don't have a choice. They will not rent to a Ford Explorer. I've tried in person and I've tried online and as soon as I put in the make and model of the tow vehicle it shut me down when I put in an Explorer. They will rent to a Mazda...

Window moves two inches, rotates a few degrees, and jams SOLVED

So here it is almost four years later and I finally tore into it yesterday and found the problem. It was an easy fix. With the door panel off and the switch removed from the panel, I was able to observe the movement when I grabbed the glass and pulled up and down. I saw the three motor bolts...

1994 Ford Explorer Rainwater Leak Into Both Front Footwells.

Thanks to you both, kmack and ChildIdencicant, for taking the time to reply so thoroughly. I'll try applying some of that information tomorrow and let you know.

    Check Engine Light finally solved

I just noticed that I never posted a solution to this. So even though it's late I figured it may be of some use. The mechanic give me a second salvaged PCM and the truck has been running perfectly since that date. Those codes were indicating a faulty PCM.

1994 Ford Explorer Rainwater Leak Into Both Front Footwells.

There is a rectangular channel running the width of the windshield just in front of it and under the trim strip. The windshield wiper pedestals drain into it as well as the fresh air intake vent forward of the windshield. The windshield wiper motor bolts onto the firewall side of this channel...

    91 explorer dies intermittently

The ECM is the same as the EEC. It goes by both names which can be confusing. Engine Control module. Electronic Engine Control. Be sure the new relays are good that you put in. If you're sure they are good, you've covered it. Read the engine error codes, if any. That might give you some...

    91 explorer dies intermittently

It's in the same fuse box as the fuel pump relay that you've already replaced.

    91 explorer dies intermittently

I had a problem like that until I replaced the ECM relay with a good one. What a relief after living with it for weeks and having it die on me at any time. After 5 minutes or so it would start up and run fine until it died the next time.

    Interior Door Handles!!!!

I had two good door handles that pulled out of the doors. I used a generous amount of super glue when I pushed them back in place. They have remained there for a few years now. This is one of the easiest and cheapest fixes so far in 8 yrs with my 94 EB @ 196K mi. no rust FL truck.

Water leaking on drivers side floor

Exactly where did you put the hose nozzle to flush out the drain? Do you think that would be sufficient to clean it out without removing the fender liner?

    Leak through firewall

My leak into the passenger side foot-well was from a clogged AC condensation drain line. My mechanic blew it out with compressed air from underneath (at the drain line exit) and lucky me, it stopped leaking and he didn't charge me anything. Now if only I could find the leak that appears under...

Can this '95 Explorer make it across the country?

Over the years it's been my experience that dealer service departments have no interest in very old models. I would take it to an experienced independent mechanic of good reputation.

    The Dreaded 214 Code

SOLVED!!!!! My consistent 111 and 214 codes are gone. I replaced my ECM with a salvaged one and now my EB is running like new.

    Intermittent rough running, Code 214

SOLVED!!!!! My consistent 111 and 214 codes are gone. I replaced my ECM with a salvaged one and now my EB is running like new.

    Dtc 212 & 214

SOLVED!!!!!!! It was the ECM. Got a salvaged one and replaced my original one in about 15 minutes. My EB is now running like new at 196K miles.

    Intermittent rough running, Code 214

I would like to try changing just the sensor on the 1994 synchronizer but sensors are available only starting with 1995. Would the 1995 sensor fit on the 1994 synchronizer? I understand that I would have to replace the 1994 style plug with a 1995 style.

    Dtc 212 & 214

I also have the 214 code on my 94 EB rwd. I'm stumped but need to get it fixed. The CEL light comes on after about 20 minutes and the car then runs badly. Anyone?????? It seems to run well until the CEL comes on. Then it loses some power and idles at about 1100 which drives me crazy. Crank...
