Stuck in 2nd gear (Even in Park!)

I installed a tranny out a totaled 94 explorer. The truck was being driven when it was sideswiped in an intersection, so I know the tranny works. The problem I am having is, as the title says, it's stuck in 2nd gear. It feels quite solid when loading it up, but it is stuck in 2nd gear. I...

Installed tranny all lever positions are forward gears.

I installed a used A4LD tranny that was out of a totalled explorer in my 94 explorer. I filled it up with tranny fluid (might be a tad high), and all my gears are forward. No reverse or neutral. I checked the gear lever position compared to the arm on the tranny and they are very closely lined...

    Transmission electrical connecter search

Thanks for the pics. I'm still stumped. I took some pics of my old tranny and if you could just tell me where it plugs into i'd love it. The only have about 1.5ft of wire where it comes off the frame so i can't go much farther than the transfer case, and there is nothing to plug into there. Does...

It comes off the main line near the transfer case. It's a 2 wire (red, and grayish i think). The wire is about 1.5ft long. Thanks.

    Transmission electrical connecter search

I replaced my A4LD in my 94 ex and i cannot for the life of me find where this one connector's home is. This wire T's off of the main one that runs in the drivers side frame rail about at the back of the tranny. Can those of you with a Gen 1 find this and let me know? Thanks alot! Sorry about...

No gears in 1994 explorer (A4LD)

Could this be the torque convertor or is is most likely the tranny is shot? If so where do I start with fixing it? Could it be a valve body issue or is it more serious than that?

    2wd and 4wd A4LD the same?

Are these tranny's the same except for the transfer case for the 4wd?

    Wheel Bearing+Large Tires questions

I was looking for a little more technical of an answer. I'm not asking how to do wheel bearings, i've done them alot......on stock setups. I'm just wondering if there's a rule of thumb for big tires and the extra load they create. Thanks.

    Wheel Bearing+Large Tires questions

I've got 33's on my ex and i'm doing a wheel bearing/rotor job. I've read that 16 in lbs. is not enough torque for the inner nut (i have the warn kit). I remember seeing something on here a long time ago about a guy who left his at 35 lbs, and they worked fine. What do you suggest?

    Is my MAF shot??

The other day i was trying to figure out my pinging problem, and i did a test. I pulled the MAF off of the intake and it ran the same as having it on the Intake. It should die shouldnt it? Any help would be appreciated.

    Front end U-Joints

thanks for the help. I have removed the spindles before, and i've pretty much had my whole front end apart (shoulda done the joints then). So there is 3 joints on the drive shaft, and 2 on each axle shaft? I have relatively new ball joints (20-30K) and my wheel bearings are about 10K old...

    Front end U-Joints

I'm planning on replacing all the U-joints on the front end, Driveshaft, Half Shafts, and the Mid shaft* one. Any tips on doing this or is it just alot of time. I've done my rear end a few times, i dont need any tips on the actual work, just things to look for and easier ways to do them. Also...

    Bumper Idea For 1st Gen

Is 3" overkill? Not only trying to bend it, but for weight too. 2.5"? I dont know, speak your minds.

    Bumper Idea For 1st Gen

I'm going to mount the winch in behind the bumper (when i get one) The fairlead will be angled down below the bottom tube. Kid-is that 3" tubing on the bumper? I'd like a tighter bend on the corners. What did you use to bend it? The other tubing looks to be about 1"?
