Lift kits for 5th gen. Explorer

EDIT: Having a 5th gen Ex rolling white letter BFGs...About 3 grand in repairs every year or more. And now the rest of the story... 15K miles later, I need new front axles and engine mounts and a RH rear upper strut bushing that is not available from Ford. I'll be going back to stock height...

Atkdfe1-6_1 (1) by Akmechanic posted December 15, 2016 at 11:33 PM Hi Everyone, I'm in the process of overhauling this engine for an awesome BR2 project and ran into this doozey... Is this galley supposed to be plugged? The block was gone through by a local shop about 5 years ago (ya I'm slow)...

Lift kits for 5th gen. Explorer

FINALLY!!!! Took 5 dang weeks to scour the country for the 4 wheels which were in 4 different locations and then get them shipped to AK. I have no idea why...but WORTH THE WAIT!! Did the Traxda leveling / 2" lift kit, Mayhem Patriot 17x8 wheels and 265/70 BFG AT T/A KO2. The front mudflaps...

Lift kits for 5th gen. Explorer

Ordering my lift kit tonight!!! This was a great thread to read! So funny story...all I needed was new tires for my 2012 XLT. Not trying to get in a rubber-comparing argument about which is better (because I can't be swayed) but I strictly run BFG A/T T/A as aftermarket tires. Strictly...

Is it time for new wiper arms ?

Anyone have a source on the front wiper control arms? 30 bucks sounds about right but I'm coming up empty except for an obscure ebay post for only the RH one. (and of course rear ones from all over) Napa doesn't show a listing for fronts at all. Are the dealer ones only 30 bucks? Please...

2012 stalling, burning smell & smoke

The invoice says that the AC compressor was found to be siezed up. They replaced it and everything else in the AC system from what it looks like. But didn't list the belt on the invoice so I'm hoping they changed that too. Lol. We'll see if that was a cause or a result of something else...

2014 Ford Explorer Rear Window Spoiler Ridiculous

Scouring my feeble memory, I recall that Lund used to make a rear spoiler for the BRII that had slots in it that took the higher pressure from above the vehicle and vented in down the rear window spoiling much of the low pressure present behind the vehicle. I have to admit, I was too poor to...

Burning rubber smell (not from acceleration)

There is a TSB out detailing the replacement of cooling hoses and coolant due to achemical reaction betwen them creating odors. Your dealer should know about it after a quick search but just in case: And see thread http://www.explorerforum.com/forums/showthread.php?p=3018845 TSB 12-8-8...

The sulphur smell cannot be fixed, see invoice

I've got one of these and get the smell only ocasionally, but in my rig, it does not register as CO and those little sensors are darn sensitive! I'd say the PPM is likely not at a toxic level based on that. That said, some may well be worse than others so one sampling point is not difinitive...

    Moon Roof Doesn't Open Completely

Hmmm...mine used to do that, but now it seems that it goes all the way on the first press of the button... Maybe I'm confused... I'll recheck. Could it be automatic based on the speed of the vehicle?? Cuz that would be way cool! Lol. -Kevin

Whats the first thing that has cracked, broke or scratched in your EXP?

I got the "Alaska Windshield Mod" installed within 2 weeks of driving my Ex off the lot. The installation was a snap. It involves simply driving in Fairbanks until the rocks they put out for traction on the roads dempolishes your new baby. Why they don't use a salt/sand combination up...

What do you tow with your 5th gen. Explorer?

So far, just my Jet ski. The mileage drops a little but it's better than my 02 Ranger with the 4.0.

Bad or Burnt Exhaust smell in cabin during hard acceleration.

Hi everyone! Long time, no post. Lol. Alaska's summers are short enough that I don't get alot of time in front of the ol 'puter. The smells maybe annoying and trigger a reaction to sensitive folks, but I'm sure that the PPM of anything toxic is way low. My Ex is doing it and I don't find...

    Losing oil and smell

Klaus, your english is very good. Thanks for sharing your experience. Is there anyway you could get the TSB number from your mechanic? I am having this same issue in the US and I can not find the TSB. Thanks. -Kevin.

Bad or Burnt Exhaust smell in cabin during hard acceleration.

I was thinking that meant the reaward output of the transaxle thingy. Lol. But I have virtually no experience with front or AWD. Only old-school tranfer cases, like the good Lord intended. Lol.
