on my cousins 84 3/4 ton chevy 4x4 she has 16's... and with some shaving on the caliper and the right back spacing i believe 15's can fit. she alsmost bought my old tires for 15" wheels. but we didn't have a 15" wheel to try. but it looks like it could work its close though
dad had them on his 3/4 ton duramax barely got 15,000 mi out of them but he did tow with it. buddy has an f150 with 33's and hopes to get 40,000 mi out of them but time will tell. seem to work well offroad for being an all terrain.
back when i was stock discount tire mounted 31x10.50 bfg mt's on my truck with no hassle at all. hell they mounted my 35" bfg mt's too... put them right on and said nothing about it cept that i had a nice truck.
with 33's your going to want 4.56's atleast. 4.10's came stock in the explorers with a 235x75r15 so u jump all the ways up to 33's and 4.10's just aren't going to cut it. 4.10's are good for stock tires or up to a 31" tire. there is someone running 4.56's and 32's and gets great intown mileage...
bfg mt's would be the most aggressive and u can still get 50,000+ miles out of them. they are great offroad and last extremely long for a mud terrain. even outlast some allterrains. got more miles out of them than the bfg at's i had which i hated anyways. and they got chewed up quick. . ran...
i'm turning around 2800 rpms at 70mph with 5.13's and a 37" tire but i do have a manual so yours will probably be around 3000 rpms. and yes they do have 5.38's for the 44 hp but thats as low as they go. i still say 5.38's are the way to go. 5.13's go good with a 35" tire (trust me its a really...
definitely 5.13's if not 5.38's... my tires measure out to 37.1" tall and i wish i'd have gone with 5.38's over the 5.13's (i will when money permits, thats how under powered i feel my truck is). i can feel it trying to simply drive onto a curb. it needs something more. and it could use that...
you'll like the trutrac i loved mine when i had it. if i went with a limited slip that would have to be it. what size tires u going to run with the 4.10's? i wouldn't go any bigger than 31's with that ratio
the lift for the explorer will also work on the mountaineer. superlift makes a 4" lift... trailmaster makes a 4" lift and rcd makes a 5" lift which replaces the torsions bars. those are just a few... u can search on this site to find what u need to know
just keep in mind what your stock gearing is... unless your willing to swap gears or you already have a low enough set of gears that will limit u on what tire size u get. find out what your stock gearing is.
the 1st and 2nd gen explorers with a body lift so nowheres near as much frame as a chevy with a body lift. they show a good bit of frame to begin with. the worst part about it is the gaps between the body and frame but u can fix that with some plastic or something to cover it. if u don't want to...
if i ever bought an all terrain again it would have to be the trxus sts's. i love the look and its quite an aggressive tire for being an all terrain. i once had a set of bfg at's and i absolutely hated them offroad. but thats mostly b/c i spend alot of time in the mud and they were pathetic in...
if u love mud i wouldn't get any procomp tire out now. i had the xterrains and i was not happy at all with the mud performance. i got rid of them for that same reason. but it was my mistake for buying them for mud though  damn buy 3 get 1 free. other than that i liked them. anyways...
