    99 Cobra wheels & Tire question ->

damon Not the cobra R's - the 1999 Cobra rims -- here's a picture: Dead Link Removed I'm thinking of something like a 275-55-17 What I'd like to know more importantly is if I have to use a light truck tire? Don't do any offroading, and no snow. Whats the load rating I'd need for a...

    Mysterious Oil

if I had to guess I'd say it's the tranny cooler. Although I've had this explorer for a year, I've not gotten into it like my previous cars (mustangs) so I don't know it like the back of my hand (actually only popped the hood a few times) but thats the only thing that sounds reasonable...

Heater - on sometimes off others !?!

Anyone else experience this? Truck is a 96 Explorer XLT 5.0L. Every once and a while.. say 3 weeks or so.. if the car has been sitting all day and it's cold out (murphys law), the heater just will not come on at all. Move the gauge all over.. nothing. Stop, turn the car off, start it...

    SOHC Supercharger and headers

What kind of supercharger is it? roots/lyshom or centrifugal? regardless, exhaust helps a forced induction motor period. The faster you can remove the exhaust gas the more hp you'll make. Ask them what they believe that headers cause the flat spot.

    Borla Headers and confusion

Equal length headers are supposed to promote scavaging or "aspriation" effect. However in the shorty design the gain effect is near nothing, the tubes just aren't long enough. Plus equal length headers are a pain to install and looking at my 96 5.0 there just isn't room for them, the stock...

Question: Thoughts on taking off fan blades / replacing them with electric fan

Flex-a-lite electric fans just don't move enough air for a daily driver. See if you can find an electric fan off a 94+ mustang. Moves a ton of air and should in ok w/some fabbing. --damon

    Need new fan blade

pass on the flexfan - if they come apart it's ugly. Get a HD hayden fan clutch. --damon

The best 5.0L intake for torque.

Are you rebuilding a stock mustang 5.0 motor or an explorer 5.0? Some differences between the two: Explorer: Explorer intake - comparable to cobra/gt-40, much better then the stock 5.0. GT-40P heads - flow the same as the iron gt-40s on the 93' cobras. About 200/145 Far better then stock...

Spark Plug Exploded on Freeway! Why?

Must of been really lean, thats something you usually only see with a supercharger or NOS on the car.

Cat-back exhaust ?'s and air intake and others.

I don't see any part #M-5200-FC in the FRPP Motorsports catalog. Is that the correct #? (cat-back) thanks, damon

Cat-back exhaust ?'s and air intake and others.

Bought this 96 v8 explorer the other day and had some time today to poke around the engine bay. First, what is everyone doing for an air path to the filter? the air silencer is pointed toward the front of the car where the radiator, fan and tranny cooler are. Looking around I don't see any...

    where do i start?

Now I just picked up a 5.0 explorer but I've been modifying mustangs forever now. The GT-40P heads and Explorer intake flow enough to make in the area of about 240-260rwhp (add 15% for flywheel). So the exhaust like everyone mentioned is a good place to start. and stay away from an open...

Lots of questions about the explorer 5.0 (96)

ok, I just picked up a 96 5.0 explorer and I've got some general questions. having had several 5.0 mustangs I'm pretty familar with these motors. 1. What is the MAF size? 2. What is the TB Size? 3. Who makes shorty headers for them? 4. What are the specs on the cam? int/exh @.050, lift...
