1991 rear door latch replacement looks funny

Are there pins inside for an electrical connection?

I bought one for my gen 2 from Central valve bodies.

    Power door lock problem

If I understand correctly, you want to unlock all the doors with the key? I don't think this was ever available on first generation Explorers. Welcome to the forum.

Coolant smell through heater and small puddle

Your heater core is probably leaking. It's an easy job to replace it. If coolant is dripping in the cab then that's the culprit. https://www.explorerforum.com/forums/threads/how-to-1st-gen-explorer-heater-core-replacement-diary.135049/

    3D Printed First Gen parts

All good, thank you. Don't want to turn this into a headlight thread.

    3D Printed First Gen parts

Brilliant! I found a unit on Amazon, 12 to 15 volts and 10 amp capacity. I'll get one after Christmas & let you know how it works. Thank you for the tip, I never knew this part even existed.

    3D Printed First Gen parts

Actually, a mount that would accept a decent led. Anything would be better than what we have.....I've polished inside and out, increased my wire to #12 ga and wired relays, grounded near both lights, my low beams are still dreadful.

    Rear Leaf lift replacement

I'm not using F150 springs, sorry for the misunderstanding. There are lots of threads here on it though. I got some leafs off a Chevy that was going to scrap. I cut the eyes off & put them together with my Explorer main leaf. I have no idea what these leafs are, only that the Chevy was used...

ac compressor noisy. Are these bolts rubbing the pully? (pictures)

If you use your A/C you'll need a new clutch. The compressor will probably fail shortly after. It's the luck of the draw. A new clutch will bring your belt alignment back. AC delete belts are a good option.

    Rear Leaf lift replacement

Build a bas tard pack out of an F150 spring under the Explorer main leaf. If you have a press you could re-arc. I built my rear leafs from some Pro comp leaves off some kind of Chevy under my stock main leaf, lifted it way too much, like 6" instead of 4". I have a few spare sets of stock to...

    Rough Idle... High Hydrocarbons

I was just throwing it out there. By saying high hydrocarbons, makes me think of unburnt fuel. I read that you ran Seafoam. Good idea but still no guarantees that it had a positive effect on the injectors. You said it sat for 8 years then it was rebuilt? That's what had me thinking about firing...

    Rough Idle... High Hydrocarbons

As Da Soviet Potato said, the intake tube from the MAF to the throttle body is known to crack & let in unmetered air, a very common problem. This should be checked out while you're chasing things down. Usually happens in the pleats near the air box. Good luck 🤞

    Rough Idle... High Hydrocarbons

You're tracking it down . Listen to guys in this thread. I have an Innova scanner that was gifted to me, cost $29 & I bought an extension cable on Amazon for $15. I wouldn't go anywhere without it. KOER will give you a balance test, might pertain to your lack of goodness....I don't know, I'm...

    Rough Idle... High Hydrocarbons

Have you scanned it? I would do KOEO & KOER. Running rich could be the temp sensor, a scan can at least point you in the right direction.

Two wheel drive & 4 wheel drive use different filters. Always a good idea to double check before you leave the auto parts store.

Can i change bulbs without taking off the cluster, just from the front?

ChildIdenticant has it. I take out the cluster: give the speedo cable slack by disconnecting it from the transfer case. It takes patience but after that you will have learned. Last year I had repairs to do & since I had the cluster out I replaced all the bulbs......should have left out the ABS...

Single Hump Locking Key front wheel assembly

Good advice. I'm curious if the Dana 44 nut set (used for Warn hubs) will work with auto hubs? Tom's Bronco has them cheaper than anyone. They're local to me so I bought a couple sets for when I put my Warn hubs on. https://tomsoffroad.com/parts/66-77-ford-bronco-dana-30-44-spindle-nut-kit

Really hot weather testing climbing a mountain

The sound of the fan with a heavy duty clutch can be annoying. Not as annoying as a blown head gasket.

1996 4R55E seized and wont move forwards or backwards, even when in N.

Have you checked the trans fluid? I've had trucks with automatics stop moving from a clogged filter. It's worth checking, the contents of the pan will tell you alot.

How to: Diagnosing DPFE Sensor (P0401 and P0402) with Scan Tool

87 Miles today, check engine light on and off the whole time. Cleared codes before I left, I'll check them again tomorrow & check the DPFE for water.

How to: Diagnosing DPFE Sensor (P0401 and P0402) with Scan Tool

I've been getting a check engine light on my 94 for about a month. A scan showed EGR codes & I suspected the DPFE even though the part is less than a year old. I put about 100 miles on the Explorer yesterday with intermittent cel the whole time. After reading this thread I decided to pull the...
