    parking brake light

What if your light is on when park brake applied, and stays on after released? Yes the brake reservoir is full.

Only Rear wheel turn in Reverse when in 4x4?

A blown hub or one not engaging for some reason on one side or the other will cause neither tire to spin due to the open differential. Dumb question I have no doubt, but you do have a front driveshaft installed?

    front or rear locker?

As I understand it, anytime you turn, all 4 tires need to travel at different speeds to maintain traction on each. Ok, so let’s kick in the rear locker and leave the front open. Now in a turn, 3 tires will be traveling at the speed they need to maintain traction. The rear tire on the inside of...

    front or rear locker?

We have 2 rigs on 35’s, one with a LSD rear and open front, and the other with ARB air lockers front and rear. The selectable locker in the rear makes steering on the asphalt much easier, and the selectable front adds some confidence when you get into the harder/deeper stuff off road. After...

Wiring diagram Explorer 1994 XLT 4x4

I’ve literally googled “1992 Ford Explorer stereo wiring diagram” and came up with a few sightseeing that tell you what the different color wires are.

Congrats on the milestone!! You passed up General at 267k!! He’s not running as nice however...... We knew this after wheeling a 1st gen sport.....so what do we do? Go buy 2 four doors on 35’s!!! I can do bearings in my sleep now....on the other hand, at least it’s not something worse to do...

    A4LD shenanigans

Seems like we went through this or a similar issue on one the only automatic in our 5 Explorer barn. IIRC a new vacuum modulator took care of it.

1994 Explorer XLT Offroad - New Owner

214 code is a cylinder identification circuit failure. I just dealt with this on a 94 sport. Get a Haynes manual for the proper procedure and specs to test the cam sensor located at the back of the motor about where an old Chevy distributor would go. Test that according to the Haynes manual...

    The Black Hole

Kind of pricey stuff, but Oreillys sells VHT nightshade which is a spray on tint used to tint turn signals and tail lights. $15 a can but would work to dim those switches down. Just apply coats until you’re happy with the light output.

    93 Eddie Bauer build

That’s exactly what we did on our 94 sport in the space the transfer case buttons used to be, was put switches in there. 3 total the way we did it fit well.

    Tom's '97 XLT registry

I’ve done it, WITHOUT anything blocking the dash light.

    93 Eddie Bauer build

I like the 2nd gens for the OBDII, but like the 1st gens for ease of modifications. Me and my girlfriend now have 5 Ex's total. 4 1st gens and one 2nd. The biggest is also the oldest, a 92 XLT 5speed, 5.5" suspension, 3" body on 35's. You got a good looking rig there, I really like it.

Betty's "I want to be a mule" progress log thread

Gas anywhere between the tunnel and Grand Junction is pricey. I’ve made that trek quite a few times and even did work putting up cell towers all along I-70 from Genesee to Glenwood Springs 20 some years ago. Prices were no better back then either. I’ve watched our gas gauges plummet and climb...

One of the easiest i saw to make that put out lots of smoke was soldering iron mounted into the lid if a jar, inside was some old cotton socks soaked to the gills in baby oil. The compressors we use to air our tires back up looked like they’d work well, my plan was to just install a valve stem...

Ive been watching some youtube videos on how to make a homemade smoke machine to pump smoke into the vac lines to find leaks. Some of em are really simple and theres a good chance you’d have everything you need to put one together.

Lift is done tires are on!(pics)

I got that extension from another member here, so I can’t take the credit, but you guys as absolutely correct!! It was getting so frustrating finding the thread you’ve been looking for.........and you can’t see the pics. I will be going through any of my threads and fixing them, but what a slow...

Lift is done tires are on!(pics)

I use the chrome extension "photobucket embedded image fix", so I am able to see the pics. Zooming in on the sidewall of that tire says it's a 33 x 12.50 x 15. These would be 35's....

    46" 1991 Explorer in Iceland.

@Rick you put it nicer than I would. The chrome browser extension works sometimes, but not always it seems. One of these days I'll find time to go through and fix all of mine. They really jacked all our awesome how to's. Too bad there's nothing we can do to fix ones from people that aren't...

6" lift w/TTB = LOTS of negative camber

I'd just about have to agree. I mean the pivot drop brackets look good....................that's about it. I sure hope the seller didn't know what he was even selling. That's screaming for karma to come whoop the snot out of him if he did. I would really like to see just what's going on with the...

6" lift w/TTB = LOTS of negative camber

Everybody hit everything I noticed, except (and maybe I missed it) how it appears the front driveshaft either is, or will contact the radius arm bracket (another reason it needs radius arm drop brackets, or long arms). It does appear to be a 6" lift, minus radius arm drop brackets and dropped...

5spdman's slow and cheap XLT build

Being broke as crap and needing my truck desperately a couple years ago, I was forced to use whatever slave Oreily's had. Almost 2 years to the day is how long it lasted, albeit 2 years of hard wheeling, so I've been eyeing the Luk slave. A little nosing around on amazon, and for my 96 (They...
