    shaking in 2nd, 3rd, and 5th gear m5od issue?

Did i replace all bearings, what bearings are you refering too? I did the front bearings, none in the tranny, but that's where I suspect the issue is. The vibrarion is coming through the driveline, not just the shifter shaking, the whole truck shakes. It not doing it in 4th rules out any kind of...

    shaking in 2nd, 3rd, and 5th gear m5od issue?

My 91 2wd 5 speed started shaking/vibrating while driving a little while ago. which gradually got worse. I thought it was the rear end at first, as the 5 speed has always shifted like new. Front wheel bearings had a little play, so I swapped those, which did nothing. Front end is all tight. I...

can I bleed just the slave if that's all I changed?

I tried bleeding it with gravity, I got nothing out of it at all after 15 minutes. So I tried the pedal, as soon as we started using the pedal to push the fluid it started to bleed. I got fluid on the second try. Fluid came out for the next 3 tries, then nothing but gurgles. It won't gravity...

can I bleed just the slave if that's all I changed?

So I finally got around to doing the clutch and slave in my 91 2wd 5 speed. Nothing was leaking, so no air ever entered the hydraulic system, and no air should be in the clutch master since there was no fluid loss when I disconnected the line at the slave. I know people have a lot of issues...

clutch finally went, anybody have part# for the slave?

I didn't see any kind of retaining clip on it, I thought it might be a twist lock type thing put I didn't want to just go after it and end up breaking it off lol. I will have to take a look next time I have some free time to work on it.

clutch finally went, anybody have part# for the slave?

I bought a slave from napa, looks like a quality piece, it's aluminum like the oem unit not rge cheap Chinese plastic one. Usually napa stuff seems to be built to a higher standard from my experiance. I started tearing into it, pulled the shifter and the bushings are non existent, so I picked up...

clutch finally went, anybody have part# for the slave?

Where can I get metal plugs to replace them. As far as the fluid im pretty sure it's never been changed, and at 246k miles it still shifts like new and the syncros show no signs of wear while driving, even in the dead of winter. But I would like to do anything that will prolong it's inevitable...

clutch finally went, anybody have part# for the slave?

Does the Napa one have a steel body where it bolts on like the original or is it plastic?

clutch finally went, anybody have part# for the slave?

Holly balls! For 243 dollars I may just take my chances with an aftermarket from luk or a napa part (which almost always seems to be higher quality parts then you get at the other stores) that's a massive price difference when the luk can be had shipped for less then 50. Anybody know which...

clutch finally went, anybody have part# for the slave?

I didn't say a part for a different model/year, I said a revision, it is not the same thing. Ford revises parts all the time. A revision is an improvement of a weak point in a part, not a part for something else. The part that fits the 91 has been revised several times over the years. You always...

clutch finally went, anybody have part# for the slave?

I've seen this thread, it really does me no good though considering I don't have a transfer case.

clutch finally went, anybody have part# for the slave?

That's what I'm thinking also, but if people haven't had issues with the luk slave or the Napa slave those are also typically good parts. There are of course brands I stay away from, but I haven't had any bad luck with those 2 brands. They are obviously both much cheaper and easy to get also...

clutch finally went, anybody have part# for the slave?

Luk still sells a replacement slave, I've just heard so much bad about aftermarket ones I haven't heard anyone say an aftermarket held up for them. How long have you had your luk installed and any issues with it?

clutch finally went, anybody have part# for the slave?

Most people say nit to go near a parts store replacement as they all fail within a year and only to go with an oem ford part. That's what I'm looking fir, unless people have had luck with another brand that isn't a cheap Chinese pos?

clutch finally went, anybody have part# for the slave?

Well my clutch finally started slipping last night during normal driving so to e to take the explorer off the road until I can fix it. I already have an luk clutch set and new luk flywheel. I'm having trouble locating a slave cylinder, I can't seem to find the right part number. I have found a...

    Cup holder question

That setup seems like the cup holders are awfully shallow, I can just see me taking a corner, bottle falls out into the footwear and rolls under the break pedal. I actually had it happen once in a pickup I had a small console/cup holder set on the hump in it had an automatic but bench seat so no...

    Cup holder question

I do the exact same thing to my wife lol. There is a fix for it, hurst makes a short throw shifter that greatly reduces the shifter thriw so tou can shift and still have cups in the cup holders, but it will cost you around 300 bucks. I will be buying one at some point. I agree it's very annoying.

How Many Miles are on Your Explorer?

91 XLT 4 door 2wd 5 speed, 246k miles, original engine, original 5 speed and still the original clutch still holding well unless I try to dump it.

    RA bushings

I used the blue moogs, very happy with them as for the install, it wasn't the easiest job, I also did the ball joints at the same time so I had the spindles off of it making it easier.

    Navajo replacement headlight assembly

I don't believe anybody makes them. If they are just dingy take them off the vehicle and sand the lenses with about 400 grit until all the oxidation and scratches are off, then sand them with around 600, until the 400 grit scratches are off, then repeat with 800 grit. After that spray them with...

do all these things just ride lousy, is is there an issue I'm not seeing?

I plan to keep it for a very long time. So I'm not to worried about the high mileage aspect and all that, whatever breaks I will fix. I like the truck, I tend to hold onto vehicles a very long time. I wouldn't concern myself with it if I was going to junk it if the engine went out or I planned...

do all these things just ride lousy, is is there an issue I'm not seeing?

Research is what I'm doing to try to find the best course of action to get the vehicle where I want it. I may also replace the I beam bushings just to see if it helps any as well as the swap bat bushings, bit they all appear fine. I also read up on a guy who did the load carriers on all 4...

do all these things just ride lousy, is is there an issue I'm not seeing?

Bandaid or not there aren't a lot of options with this vehicle, the stock springs are halfway to becoming a new fender right now, but the ride although a bit stiffer was about the same with them, as far as the skipping over bumps. And the moog coils definetely give more nose dive and more body...

    Coil Upgrades

Every ford I have ever owned always ran better with the oem platinum Motorcraft or comparable autolite plugs then any other "upgrade" plug. I tried the super expensive e3's and even those sucked, had a slight miss at high rpm, took them back and exchanged them for the stock motorcrafts, ran like...

do all these things just ride lousy, is is there an issue I'm not seeing?

One more thing I just thought about in regard to the load carrier coilover type shocks is my lift, with the 2" extra height front and rear my shocks are extended a bit more, which in regard to the coilover will not allow the spring on them to compress as much as they would at stock height since...
