No Start, One Click. New Starter, No Clicks, No Start.

So Fuse 5 (50 A) in the power distribution box under the hood blew. Replaced it and it blew again.

No Start, One Click. New Starter, No Clicks, No Start.

Oh ok, but still...that’s not why the 50A fuse blew. That feels like the bigger concern right now

No Start, One Click. New Starter, No Clicks, No Start.

Agreed. There's some holes in the story. I had him borrow a multimeter. First I had him turn on the headlights and check the battery. 12.2V. Good right ? Then I had him check for continuity at the 50A fuse 5. It was blown. He replaced it. It blew again right away. So theres a short...

No Start, One Click. New Starter, No Clicks, No Start.

Agreed. First thing I had him do was clean all connections at battery and other ends of the cables. He sent pics and everything looked clean. I also told him to make sure all connections were tight. Doesn't seem to be the problem, that's checked off the list now.

No Start, One Click. New Starter, No Clicks, No Start.

Hey guys, I have a 98' Ex and my buddy has a 00' Ex He just bought the car and started driving home, but it died on the way. AAA came and the battery checked out good, but apparently the alternator was tested and deemed weak output. They towed him the rest of the way home. He replaced the...

    Wind Shield Seam Leak

Got it. Yea now that I know, I'd get pretty fired up if I saw a guy going at my truck with a sawzal. Was never there to see it, but I'm pretty sure it's the case. If it ever needs to get done in the future, I'll be sure to say, no sawzalls allowed. Thanks for your input.

    Wind Shield Seam Leak

Damn it !! Rust is gonna kill my EX before anything else ! Keep my rig in top shape and she purrs beautifully, but I live in the North East and she's rusting out in a few key spots. One of those spots is along the windshield seam. I'm pretty confident in my assumption that the rust is happening...

    Headlights Take Turns Working...

Ok, first of all I made a mistake. I removed the MFS but only checked the contacts where the wiring harness connects...Didn't realize I had to open it up, which when I did, yes there was a lot of old grease. So I sanded it up and cleaned it with electrical cleaner. Still no headlights though...

    Headlights Take Turns Working...

Thanks for your response. I disconnected the MFS and unplugged it, but both the contacts on the MFS and the plug that goes into it look pretty darn clean. No grease or anything. Do you think the headlight switch on the dashboard to the left of the steering column went bad ?

    Headlights Take Turns Working...

So passenger side headlight goes out and I notice this 5 mins away from home at night. However, when I put the high beams on, it works. So I leave the high beams on to get home and avoid getting pulled over. Next day I buy a new bulb and replace it. Turn the headlights on to make sure it...

How to: How To: Replacing Rear Axle Wheel Bearings

Thanks for your response. I finished this job today and all is well. I checked out the axle but it didnt seem to have any wear that I could visually detect. The seal was leaking but not terribly, just enough to get the inner brake pad wet and inside the rotor where the ebrake is. Most of the...

How to: How To: Replacing Rear Axle Wheel Bearings

So I'm back at this thread to do the same job two years later. It all started because I heard a rotational squeaking/chirping that could only be a wheel bearing in my opinion (what else could it be ?). Started by lifting the rig from the ass and rotating the drivers side rear wheel. It...

Wouldn't start (for no apparent reason). Then finally did (for no apparent reason!)

I take good car of my old girl. She's old and got plenty of miles, but runs beautifully, and I know her purr well and can hear in a second an issues I need to check out or fix. She's my girl and I know her well. I was stumped this morning when I went to start her and she just turned over with...

    Brake Line Replacement

Thanks for your reply. I got myself a decent double flaring tool back when I did all the lines to the calipers from the ABS because your advice was the same as many others...the cheap flare tools are a pain. Glad I got the quality tool to make the job easier. However, I was surprised to...

    Brake Line Replacement

Hey all, I've replace all the hard lines on my 98' Ex from ABS unit to each caliper myself before, and the line that goes over the rear diff. The two short lines from the MC to ABS looked fine at the time so I let them be (wish I just replaced them too) because now they look ready to be...

    There's a Snake Under my Hood !

Cool, I actually need the tray, and everything that is mounted to it (vapor canister etc) in the rear of the vehicle over the spare tire. How much for the tray, mounting hardware, and evap stuff that gets mounted to that tray ?

    There's a Snake Under my Hood !

Hey guys, just wanted to revive this thread, and thank turdle for remembering about another similar thread where the OP had a small hole in his vent valve causing a leak. I pulled the valve to check for a hole and discovered that there was one ! No idea how it happened, but definitely there...

    There's a Snake Under my Hood !

True. Thanks for remembering that Turdle and taking the time to pass that info on. I'll double check but I'm inclined to think its not a hole on the purge valve because the hissing sound of the leak stops when I disconnect the hose and plug it. This leads me to believe the hissing is coming from...

    There's a Snake Under my Hood !

Yea, so the hissing is definitely coming from the EVAP purge valve hose at the green connection (upper hose). When I take it off and plug it quickly before the car stalls, the hissing stops. I tried putting some O rings in there as a gasket, which didnt work. I also wrapped the purge valve male...

    There's a Snake Under my Hood !

Any chance you know the diameter and length of those hoses ? I haven't looked at it yet, its been raining around here. Additionally I live in a semi remote place. I'll be driving past the auto store today. It'd be nice to pick up some vacuum line while I'm passing the store without having to try...

    There's a Snake Under my Hood !

I got one auto solution, and two snake solutions. I'm starting to think it's a snake again ! haha thanks guys ! and koda2000 I'm gonna put you on speed dial. Always on it, thanks again, you've helped me many times.
  23. prayforsurf0

    There's a Snake Under my Hood !

Or a vacuum leak. I'm thinking its a vacuum leak because I just started noticing this hissing sound coming from the drivers side under the hood when the car is running. When the car is stopped the hissing continues for a quick second or two more before completely dying, like the last bits of air...

    NEW LEAF SPRINGS “UPDATE”

I found good set on eBay for a great deal and free shipping. I remember this being one of the most rewarding jobs to complete because the improvement in the ride was massive. My leafs were frowning so a new set did wonders. Plus the truck looks so much better when she's not sagging.

How to: How To: Replacing Rear Axle Wheel Bearings

I see, makes sense. It just seemed to me there wasn't much room around the axles to allow the oil to overfill into the tubes from the differential. Thanks for clearing that up for me.
