    Hot floor advice?

I played with the idea of bed lining my floor as well but settled on getting vinyl floor from a sport trac. Almost as easy to clean but I don't have the heat problem you describe.

    2000 Explorer XLT Overlanding Build

You could save money on the rear leafs getting a 5 coil pack from older f-150 at a junk yard. You keep the explorer main leaf but swap In the other 3 leafs and overload from the f-150. I gained more with it than an aal. Then level the front with the tt. There's lots of info about it here...

    Leaf spring clamps

I got mine installed. Don't look quite as pretty as yours but they will do what they were designed to do. Still have to cut of the excess bolt.

    Rancho Shock Question

Could have been the wrong shocks... I bought the ex stock with those shocks installed. But what would it hurt to have a little extra shock length? I mean as long as you have limiting straps to limit your CV angle. I wouldn't want to rely on my shocks to limit travel.

    Rancho Shock Question

If your wheeling I wouldn't rely on your shocks to limit your travel. I had OEM style shocks on my ttwisted ex and kept bowing out upper shock mount bushings because I was relying on my shocks to limit my travel. I went to rancho 5000 since.

    Leaf spring clamps

I've been looking everywhere for clamps like yours BKennedy but haven't been able to find any for 2.5" springs. Could I use 3" clamps? I figure that only leaves .25" of clearance on both sides of the spring.

    Leaf spring clamps

Those look awesome! I was originally thinking of welding an old square u bolt to the add a leaf to stop them from fanning. It seems like I read some people do that to allow maximum amount of flex. But overall I love how clean your setup is and it doesn't seem to hinder performance any. I'm...

    Leaf spring clamps

Those look great! I've seen those type of clamps before but hadn't understood how they worked. The elevator bolt just goes through the hole in the first leaf? Aren't those pads your referring to some sort of plastic or Teflon slider? I though they had more to do with noise than anything else.

OBX headers are back on ebay

The general problem I have seen is poor communication from torquemonster and long wait times. I'm all for buying American made and a superior product but I don't want to deal with the headache. That being said I have never honestly attempted getting a hold of torquemonster... I'm only basing...

    Leaf spring clamps

Hey guys I threw some f-150 5 leaf packs on the rear of my rig but I've had a problem with them fanning out. One ride the leaf punched a hole in my fuel tank! To bandaid the problem I've thrown on some large stainless hose clamps but the other week I broke those too. There's old threads on the...

OBX headers are back on ebay

They had a coupon for one day Spring20 If I remember right. Blk2kxlt have you tried them? I mean what other options do we have? Even if it takes a little modification I'm ok with that. Mine are going on my 99 sas project.

OBX headers are back on ebay

This must be a yearly thing, Feb 2017 these obx headers we're available for a short time. Now they are back on for 454.39. I snagged me a set and used a eBay coupon for $90 off. OBX Exhaust Header for 1997 to 2001 Mercury Mountaineer Ford Explorer 5.0l | eBay

How rare are 3.55 gears with a 5.0?

Mine had a set of 3.55s in my 01 5.0. They were fine until I went up a tire size, then it was absolutely gutless. Save your effort for a manual transfer case. But if your set on 3.55s I've got a complete front diff with gears still installed. You pay shipping and it's yours. I threw the 8.8...

    4r70w / 4r75 Torrington bearing issue

While your in there might as well upgrade the valve body. The sonnax aode sure cure kit has all the components to cure or prevent common issues with the aode transmissions. I would also recommend the j mod, it shifts faster, prevents slippage, reduces heat, and improves overall durability of the...

    Welded gears on front diff?

I don't have limiting straps yet but its on the to do list . Full droop in a hole and powering up a pretty large rock did mine in. Didn't slip, bite, and break. It just snapped the cv joint under power.

    Welded gears on front diff?

That's correct I don't notice it at all driving on the road. I did however break the drivers side cv on hamburger hill in Moab. I run 33s with tt, shackles, and 2" body lift, those CVS just arent that tough. I got through it with a winch and locked 3wd haha. I've found the limit of my setup...

    Welded gears on front diff?

I have a 01 with the v8 I put a axle from a 96 ex with the vacuum hub, welded the spider gears, and ran a switch to my dash to engage the vacuum. Works like a champ! I'm surprised more guys don't do the mod. Here's the thread I followed to do the mod...

    Headers and a SAS

Hey guys I'm sure this has been covered by now somewhere but I can't seem to find any info. I'm going to do a solid axle swap soon, I picked up a d44 hp out of a 78 f150 that I'm going to keep it on coils. Anyway, my question is with a Sas on my 01 5.0 with a 2" body lift, do the options open as...

    MountaineerGreen's Selectable Front Diff Swap

Thread resurection! Looking to go pull an axle for my 5.0 this week. I'm going to re-gear and want to have one of these rebuilt for an easy swap. But my question is for those that have done it, or experience with the 95/96 axles. How well have the axles held up to bigger tires and light to...

    Pale Ryder 5.0 4x4 build

It's on 265/75/16s with roughly 2" of lift. I just followed the directions to build shackles to lift the rear from this thread. http://www.explorerforum.com/forums/index.php?threads/diy-rear-leaf-shackles-for-20.394876/ Then i simply leveled it out with the torsion bars. It was all really easy...

    Explorer second gen on 33's?

Im running 265/75/16s with 4" of offset and still rub on the sway bar on max turn. Front bumper was easy to trim to not rub. Those 14.5w seem like a bit of a squeeze.

Transmission problems reverse good but not forward.

Im no expert, but I did just rebuild a 4r70w for my 5.0 2nd gen and what I understand is if it loses fluid while in drive you will notice some slippage. If it continues to slip it burns up the forward clutch packs, due to the lack of fluid and heat generated. Now you can trace that back to the...

    Pale Ryder 5.0 4x4 build

Well I got the itch and picked up my first explorer back in March for almost nothing. The bone stock 5.0 ran great but had no 2-3 shift. So I dropped the trans and thanks to the journals by glacier, and YouTube, I got it built better than original (I think) . Then I found a 4406 t-case off of...

    My 93' Explorer Restoration Project

Love the look of your first gen! great thread, and good work on the build! I just picked me up a 2nd Gen xlt 5.0 along with a long to do list. The parts are slowly stacking up in the garage. I see you guys are local, I'm in American Fork and would love some input from you guys from time to time...
