Water pump? If you're not smelling coolant cooking off in the engine bay where it's vaporizing from a hose or seeing an obvious leak from cap, etc.; absent obvious signs of HG leak, I would look at the water pump. Any overheating issues?

Sounds like someone did work in the steering column and reconnected the rear signal wires to the wrong terminals.

I've heard of this happening with a different model vehicle, a Lincoln or something and the battery was left disconnected for 24 hours and it fixed the problem.
