    '91 EB Stinks!

Well I got sidetracked doing other work on the trans. But at least now I can say it's not the trans modulator causing the stink, because it's got a brand new one in now and still stinks like a bugger. o_O I'm confident it's not bad fuel either. I've put about 3-4 tanks through it since I've...

    '91 EB 4X4 Trans

Welp I've got 'er all put back together, everything was awesome for the first test drive. Took it for another drive this morning and it's still doing the delayed 1-2 shift when cold, bummer. Guess the used Governor I put it still sticks every once and awhile. But at least I got the new modulator...

    '91 EB 4X4 Trans

So I'm working on the A4LD transmission (kinda) in my '91 EB. I'm going to repair and/or replace the Governor. I'm also going to be replacing the filter & draining and replacing as much fluid as I can. I was just curious if there are any other good preventative maintenance steps I could or...

    '91 EB Stinks!

Thanks folks, I'm going to look into all 3 things this weekend. I might start with the O2 sensor(s) & cat since they are the easiest to get at. Plus I know there's some post on here about testing the O2. Then work my way into the trans modulator and possibly coolant. I really appreciate the input!

    '91 EB Stinks!

Thanks for the input FR. I honestly never would have thought either of those could be escaping out the tailpipe. Well the coolant I can understand how it would possibly come out the tailpipe, but the trans fluid I'm totally lost how that could makes it's way out the tailpipe. Any more info you...

    '91 EB Stinks!

I'm getting a horrible exhaust smell, a little smoke from the tailpipe but nothing crazy, I've seen far worse. No CEL's, idle's like a champ, just smells thick and ghastly. I cannot pinpoint the exact smell, not quite gas, no sulfur that I can tell, it just reeks. It also feels as though it's...

    '91 EB Temp Gauge Questions

Thanks Mark, that's a fantastic read! I'm definitely going to go that route. Currently the A/C isn't even working, not a big deal this time of year in TX, but come June of next year, you bet that A/C will be working. ;) Well I know what I'm getting up to this weekend. Thanks again for everything.

    '91 EB Temp Gauge Questions

Sorry, one more question for this thread. When I'm putting in the aftermarket temp gauge, is there anything wrong with me unscrewing the temp sender (1 wire) & just screwing the probe for the aftermarket gauge right in it's place? Meaning will it affect engine performance or computer...

    '91 EB Temp Gauge Questions

I had a chance to check it with my DVM, I couldn't manage to get anything on the Ohms. I'm assuming it's a bad sensor, even though it was purchased brand new. I should have done the boiling water test as I've seen around here, but alas I did not. I'm going to just go the aftermarket water temp...

    '91 EB Temp Gauge Questions

Thanks for the reply & guidance Mark. Today after work I went ahead & took off the Teflon tape I foolishly put around the threads of the ECT sensor (1 wire), but that didn't make a change in the gauge, still reading ice cold. Hopefully tomorrow after work I'll have a chance to the check the...

    '91 EB Temp Gauge Questions

Any advice on how to verify the new sensor is functioning? Yep, the gauge works when it's grounded. That's what's got me so stumped.

    '91 EB Temp Gauge Questions

I read through about 20 threads with no luck in solving my particular "problem". My temp gauge does not move at all. Here's what I've done so far: New ECT Sensor. New T-Stat. New Temp Sending Sensor. Grounded TSS against engine, temp gauge pins all the way to hot when grounded. Checked ECT...

How to install aftermarket keyless entry system

I managed to find the diagram again, so here ya go: http://www.bulldogsecurity.com/pdf/revpol3.gif You'll also want to go here for the coloring of the door lock/unlock wires: http://www.commandocaralarms.com/wiring/1992-1994/ford/explorer/751.html Mine was a '91, but I found all the wiring in...

How to install aftermarket keyless entry system

You will need 2 12V Relays at a minimum. I just completed a similar project last weekend. It was a brain tickler for me too. When I get home I'll provide you with the diagram(s) that helped me immensely. I searched for hours to finally find a diagram that was easy enough to understand/follow...
