    96 Explorer eating 4R70W's

I was told that the clutches were burned up the first time because my filter fell off and was allowing it to suck up air, the second time was told it was a wore Pressure regulator bore that caused it to burn up the clutches, 3rd time was told the torentien bearing came apart and chewed up the...

    96 Explorer eating 4R70W's

I have a 1996 explorer with the 5.0 and 4r70w with bw4406 swap. I rebuilt the motor in it almost 3 years ago, and had a reputable transmission builder rebuild the trans as a precautionary measure as I was planning to use the explorer as a daily driver. After getting the transmission back from...

Issues after sitting for 2 years with new motor and trans

Been a while since I have been active on the boards here, but its been a while since I've had my truck running and driving. Anyways, my truck has been plagued with a bad transmission builder for the past 3 years and has been sitting in his lot for the past 18 months. I finally managed to get a...

    RADIO BEZEL LIGHTER HOLE

Mine was the same way when I bought it. I bought a dual USB port adapter that fits nicely into the hole from the front, plugged the old lighter socket onto it from the back, and super glued the adapter into the hole. I'll post a picture next time I take the truck out.

    96 5.0 needs a new motor

I agree, all of the parts that this guy has been using are sonanax and raybestos, but it's still not right. I'm going to keep using it for now and if i cant get it figured out on my own I'll just let it die on me and buy a reman jasper trans and call it good. It's to the point now that if I'm...

    96 5.0 needs a new motor

Well here is what we've all been waiting for, or at least what I've been waiting for! My truck is finally running, driving, has true 4x4 now, 33" BFG KM2's, and I went wheeling today! I've decided to stop worrying about trying to fix everything cosmetic on it and just enjoy my truck for a while...

    96 5.0 needs a new motor

Well I have an ebay bw4406 manual case installed not the AWD case. And my filter was not bolted on, it didnt even have bolt holes on it. It was a press on style filter, not sure if the valve body had bolt holes or not but I know the filter doesnt. As far as milage ln the VB, it is hard to say as...

    96 5.0 needs a new motor

Well it's been a while since I've posted in here , but I've been waiting for the truck to be running and driving right to give any updates. Unfortunately the rig is still not driving right. I have the engine running like a champ but still needs a good tune. The main issue I'm still having is the...

    Electrical Issue?

You are correct, I forget we are talking about a dc motor. The ones I work with at work are all 3 phase AC induction motors so they fail a little differently.

    Electrical Issue?

Make sure the blower motor circuit has the correct fuse in it. If someone has put an oversized fuse in it then it could have pulled down your whole system without popping the fuse. If a winding in the blower motor was going to ground it would pull about 5x your normal operating current which...

    I'm Beat no idea

Mine would always blow when using the overdrive switch. Wire was broke in the column.

    I'm Beat no idea

Check to see if you have reverse lights. The overdrive switch and cruise control buttons are in the same circuit if I remember correctly.

    Door locks and window switches

Okay so on my 96 5.0L I have an electrical issue that I have not done much trouble shooting on but I figured o would ask about it to see if it's a common problem with a possible simple fix. The issue is that none of the windows will roll up or down from the switches on their respective doors but...

Valve cover replace. Any other things to get done?

If it's no all back together yet then I'd recommend replacing your pcv valve, a clogged pcv valve will cause oil leaks all day long.

    Electrical Issue?

I had the a similar issue, was able to temporarily fix it by tightening my battery cables but in the end it turned out to be my alternator.

    I'm Beat no idea

Are you not getting any lights at all on the dash or just not getting the relevant lights? Have you checked the wiring going to your gauge cluster?

Custom Bumper for 2nd gen Explorer

Get one for a ranger and modify the mountin brackets. Pretty much no one makes one for the explorer but there are a lot out there for the ranger that should fit with just a little modification.

    96 5.0 needs a new motor

Well the truck is at the transmission shop until further notice, but I did notice that my fancy little blue hose going to the factory oil cool is leaking no matter how tight I get that dang hose clamp. So instead of trying to make it fit I'm just going to get an oil filter relocation kit and do...

    96 5.0 needs a new motor

Well I have fixed my bolt hole, my upper intake is nice and snug with no leaks, and the bad hoses were replaced except one that I could not source so I had to make shift patch until I can find a good replacement. Haven't run the truck enough to verify that it wont throw another DTC but it is...

    96 5.0 needs a new motor

Also found another vaccum leak that I hadn't noticed before on the litte rubber cap on the bottom of the upper intake.

    96 5.0 needs a new motor

It's a blind hole, and I am going to keep the 1" spacer and may change it out in the future but for now I'm going to use the 3/8" spacer as it will help with fitting the intake in place under all the wires on the firewall.
