Explorer Gas Mileage - including Ecoboost

After market wheels? Heavy wheels can impact mileage. Hard takeoffs from lights and stop signs? That drawer system looks like it weighs a bit by itself depending on how much you have in it that could be an extra 500lbs or so you are carrying. That would be a biggie.

    2nd row buckets

Cool. My donor vehicle must have had the inflatable rear belts. I found and installed the correct buckle and am set now.

    2nd row buckets

Did you have to swap out the seat belts? I have installed mine but the seat belt won't stay in the buckle.

    Wiper arm removal

I have a shop manual for 16-17 that says 22 lb ft. The 11 probably isn't that different. The cover should just pry open.

List of Useful Threads Hood Paint bubble issue only

After 20 years of this I'm astonished that Ford hasn't just gone back to steel hoods and tried to make up the weight difference (if that's the reason for aluminum hoods in the first place) somewhere else. The math on this has got to be terrible for Ford.

    2nd row buckets

Nice. I have the seats in but haven't had time to measure things out to see which way I'll go on the center console.

    2nd row buckets

I haven't actually done it yet but I did just score a set of second row buckets. I haven't decided if I'm going to get an OEM center console or make my own. More to come.

Now if they could just make the paint stick to the hood... https://www.cnet.com/roadshow/news/ford-fake-bird-poop-paint-test/

List of Useful Threads Hood Paint bubble issue only

That is what you'd think but this has been going on with a number of models since the early 2000s. The cost of replacing so many hoods has got to outweigh the added expense and weight on a steel hood.

List of Useful Threads Hood Paint bubble issue only

This just showed up on my 17. Sad that it has gone on for 15+ years.

I hate it when they take good stuff away.

Thanks. I'll definitely look into that. At least that would be something useful over there.

You can get climate control and temp on the right side with a hack? I have Forscan but haven't played with it much so far.

About a year in my 17 Limited now

Overall I like it. Comfortable, plenty of room, decent gas mileage (particularly when I keep the fuel economy gauge up in the display), great feature set and on and on. I do have a few quibbles with it though. I really wish I could move something more substantive from the left side of the...

    Rear a/c removal

It's more about amplifying and eq'ing each speaker for the best possible sound. I don't really listen to it very loud but it should be able to produce decent SPL.

    Rear a/c removal

I've already pulled the 3rd row and added the interceptor brace. The entire well and then some will be used for subs plus I'm looking for some under floor storage. I don't mind the extra work as I enjoy this type of thing and I really want the rear air gone because, as I stated above, I have...

    Rear a/c removal

The filler tube for the gas tank takes up enough room to force me over to the drivers side. I'm not worried about resale so the lines can just be cut and removed in pieces. If I can't get to it in a few places so be it. There will be three (possibly four) amps and two DSPs. The sub is going...

    Rear a/c removal

Turning the rear option off is what I was looking for. I would hate having dead controls. Not too worried about exhaust since I would run the power cable through where the a/c lines are going now and will be covering pretty much all of the floor and all of the areas around the wheel wells with...
