    Backup alert

I can't remember which actual button it is, but it is one of the "parking aid" buttons in the center-stack. I turn it off while backing my boat. Good luck

New to me 2018 Platinum issues

The steering wheel does get quite hot in my '18 Platinum as well. I just let it get warm and then switch it off. The rattle "could" be the chrome strip on the black area of the door exterior. Either tape it down good with painter's tape or wedge a toothpick in it to be sure that's it. I bet...

New Owner of 2017 Explorer and its great

What method did you use to change the diff fluid? Mine has no drain so at this point, it is untouched.

    Battery

Battery tender. I leave one connected to my 50th Anniversary Corvette all the time, disconnect to drive and reconnect once cleaned up and back in the garage. No issues over several months of rest AND batteries last nearly 10 years in this ride.

2015 Explorer Limited... Noise That Grows with Speed

Could be as simple as tires that should have been rotated. When the rears begin to cup, they will really roar in time. Don't ask me how I know.

    WOT Surging

Hello all, I am experiencing a WOT surging. I don't notice it any time other than WOT. At the suggestion of a similar thread, I checked all hose connections and it appeared okay. No codes, good power, just the slight surging at WOT. Suggestions?

    Lunging during acceleration

Hello all, I too am experiencing a WOT surging. I don't notice it any other time than WOT. At the suggestion of this thread, I checked all hose connections and it appeared okay. No codes, good power, just the slight surging at WOT. Suggestions?

    Improved PTU for Explorers

My '18 Platinum with EB did have a drain-plug. I changed the fluid at 55K. It was dark but still had life. Some "whiskers" on the magnetic plug but nothing beyond what I see and hear from others. I ran several cans of brake clean through the unit and compressed air to force out any remaining...

    Door IA Handle not Operable

UPDATE: Drove the Ex out of town for about 3 hours during which the battery reached its maximum charge. Now the door-handle functions (and everything else) is back to normal operation. Just like my C5 Corvette, battery voltage and condition are critical to the operation of the CPU. My...

    Door IA Handle not Operable

2018 Explorer Platinum that has been without issue for 58K. Went to open the passenger door (which was locked) using the "grab method" and it did not work. I pulled out my fob and it unlocked as usual. Got my jacket out, shut the door and touched the square to lock the door. This did not...

What are these air chambers for?

They reduce, and in some cases eliminate "intake noise." The do rob a bit of performance but do their job in our case.

    Transmission fluid

I changed the fluids in my PTU, transmission and engine when I got some lift time. The PTU is tough the first time just to get to things like the sensor (fill plug) etc, as it makes things easier just to remove the CAT for access. The oil change is just that, drain, filter replacement and...

PTU, Trans and Oil Change Today

How did you drain the rear diff? I see no drain, just the fill.

PTU, Trans and Oil Change Today

The '18 Platinum Explorer has 57K on the clock and with all the reading here and elsewhere, since I was at 25% of oil life remaining, I thought it time to borrow a lift bay and do some things. First, I have to both congratulate and condemn the engineers that designed the under-hood packaging of...

    Inaccurate GPS - Off Route

Probably not your issue, but Solar Flares have been prevalent over the past few weeks, even to the point on Sept 1, I lost all GPS signal in the Explorer and other devices for a couple of hours. Very weird.

    Power window problem

Regulator has failed. Does it even try to move? Did it begin to make noise?

    FordPass Connection Issue

UPDATE: Now two phone conversations with a tech with FordPass but no resolve. I have logged out/in to the app, deleted/reinstalled the app, even "factory reset" the Sync3 system to no avail. Currently, I only see my location, fuel level, oil life, mileage and tire pressures as of Feb 12. I...

    FordPass Connection Issue

2018 Platinum, though I can still lock/unlock and remote-start, the listed date for updating mileage, oil life and tire pressure is now 4 days old (2/12/22) even though I have tried many times to "update" the data by swipping the app down on my iphone. Really weird if you ask me. I have...

    Wireless Charger Mod?

That is definitely one means of making it work. I was more interested in some sort of pad to just position the phone while driving. I'm probably asking for too much, but the new(er) Fords have this and there MUST be some way to mod my '18 Platinum

    Wireless Charger Mod?

Searched our database and still don't see anyone's creative success. Somebody has surely come up with a way to mount a wireless charger in our Explorers. Short of just plopping one of those discs down at the front of the console, we need a collective "think tank" approach to the challenge...

    Liftgate position memory

Are you holding the button until you get the confirmation beep? If not, position the lift gate at the desired height, then press and hold the down button on the gate until you hear a beep. At this point, you "should" have set the memory for the desired height.
