    no acceleration

It was a carquest sold by advanceauto. Lifetime warranty, but a big time pain to replace when it goes bad.

    no acceleration

To all who suggested a fuel pump, winner winner chicken dinner and thanks. I had left a pressure gauge hooked up and every time it was in park and not loaded the fuel pressure was normal. So I took the hood off and taped the pressure gauge to the windshield, and when under load the fuel pressure...

    no acceleration

I have a 2001 Explorer with 4.0 auto 4WD. I have an issue which is driving me nuts. The truck will start and run great, for a very limited amount of time, maybe a tenth of a mile of a few hundred yards. Then it will idle down the road fine, but if you apply gas, it wants to die, rather than...

    reviving the forgotten Sport Trac

974X4BlackSport nailed it. The cats had the exhaust sufficiently plugged to prevent it from running correctly. As the previous deceased owner had failed emmissions testing he had purchase all new cats that was included in the sale of the truck, so I took off the old and put on the new and now...

    reviving the forgotten Sport Trac

Disconnecting them improved thing quite a bit. I can now get 3K RPM before it starts to sputter about. It came with new Cats, so going to put them on and then see if I can go to Advance Auto and have the codes scanned. I don't have a scanner, let alone one that does live data. But the pre-cats...

    reviving the forgotten Sport Trac

It does start and idle. It may be a bit rough on the idle, hard to tell as I have no owned this long enough to know what a "good idle" may sound like. But it does start and idle. It is just when you give it gas it acts like it is starving

    reviving the forgotten Sport Trac

I need some guidance on where to start with my new find. This is a 2001 Eddie Bauer Sport Trac that had been sitting idle and forgotten for 4+ years. I trailered her home and so far have replaced the fuel pump and filter. She now starts and idles, but starts missing and sputtering badly about...

    Power distribution box connections missing

I have a project 2001 Sport Trac that has the 4.0 V6 that has not run in 4 years or so. Great condition, and did get it to start after replacing the usual fuel pump/filter etc. But while it sat some squirrels needed some wire and they took what they wanted. The Yellow/White wire from the...
