    Speedometer reprogramming options?

Ok, I thought it was an old fashioned gear driven system but then I made the mistake of looking at JET Performance Chips and they have a Accu Speed listed for my truck....obviously that's wrong.

    Speedometer reprogramming options?

On a 1993 Explorer 4x4, if I need to change the speedometer to read correctly for new tires and gears is there a preferred method? I'm not familiar if this truck just needs to have the gears changed in the speedo cable at the transmission or if it can be done electronically. Thanks in advance.

2nd Generation Explorer (and 1st) VS Land Rover - Your Take?

That's funny you say that. I'm in a good position to comment on that. Just did a 30 mile off road drive in the Sierra's yesterday to check on a friend that we haven't heard from in over 2 weeks at a gold claim (he was ok). Been raining heavy thunderstorms on Fri, Sat and Sun. I took my 2012...

Really hot weather testing climbing a mountain

It is a new Hayden HD version, water pump new, plastic fan and radiator are new. I replaced everything last year when I was building up the truck not due to mileage but just age. My condenser is very clean and the fins are straight. I agree that the AC sucks power, but I wanted to push the...

Really hot weather testing climbing a mountain

I actually don't mind the sound/noise that much but my concern is in very hot conditions while in first gear low range and climbing out of very steep canyons it won't move enough air to keep the truck and tranny cool. We use this truck to get to gold claims in Norcal and some of the climbs out...

Really hot weather testing climbing a mountain

Not sure if anybody is interested in this experiment but I'd figure I post it. On Sept 6th, my town of Vacaville had one of its hottest days ever reaching 115 degrees. I'm semi-done building up my 1993 Explorer and wanted to see how it would handle an intense hill climb in very hot...

    Off-road opinions and thoughts.

Since you have a lot of moisture there which may mean a lot of mud, I would suggest a selectable locker for the rear like ARB or an Eaton E-locker. I love the lunchbox lockers but they can be a handful on off camber trails that have mud or ice on them. By handful I mean a lunchbox locker can...

Fan control knob for the heater and AC...how to remove?

Excellent, thanks for the confirmation. The good thing about pick and pull is their website lets you look for specific vehicles and if their in stock...who knows what parts are still on the truck until you get there though.

Fan control knob for the heater and AC...how to remove?

I need to go to a wrecking yard and get a replacement fan speed control knob for my 1993. My old one literally just fell apart with cracks and spins on the fan switch shaft. When I do find one, do you just firmly pull it off or is there a way to do this without breaking anything when trying to...

    Rear self adjusting shockers.

I'm kind of amazed that these worked as well as they did in my 2002 Sport. Totally changed the handling of the truck for the better. I'm wondering how long they'll last.

    Tim's '93 Sport

New tires and rims look great. What tow hooks are those on the front of the truck?? I'm looking for something just like that.

Lower rocker panels removed...what to cover the holes with?

Yup, that is exactly what I was talking about. Looks clean and factory (which I'm sure it is). I'll take a look at some local pick n pulls to see if their website shows these on any of the gen 1's they have in stock. Thanks for posting up the pic.

Lower rocker panels removed...what to cover the holes with?

I removed the plastic lower rocker panels....is there a factory "strip" molding that covers the holes? I'm pretty sure there is a thread on it, but gave up after multiple searches. Forum member "Travis' 94" truck has a thin black strip that covers these holes....trying to figure out if this is...

What 6" drop pitman arm use....Skyjacker not fitting

We got a call back from Skyjacker today....although we ordered the right part and the box they came in are labeled correctly, the part is incorrect and after sending them pics and measurements it was found that the two FA600's were actually FA699 which is for the 99 to 2004 Super Duty chassis...

What 6" drop pitman arm use....Skyjacker not fitting

We're in the process of fitting a 5.5" Duff lift kit on my 1993 Explorer. The kit comes with a 4" drop pitman arm, but everything I've researched says go 6" to keep the tie rods in phase with the beams. The part I ordered is Skyjacker FA600....which Skyjacker lists for the Ranger, Bronco II and...

    Tim's '93 Sport

I've been thinking about getting rid of the rear side windows and installing aluminum replacements that you can mount stuff to on the inside and out. It'll probably cost more than $200.00, but at least that space will be much more useable for storage. Just a thought.....

Thanks A Scott...that is the same thing we're finding.

Running into problems getting a front lunch box locker figured out

Just as a further update to the info I've found. I called Randy's Worldwide which also appears to be Yukon Gear, Spartan Locker, etc. I finally found a tech specialist that new his stuff....Gus Pyeatt is his name, extension 5599. Although there are differences in the Jeep Dana 35 regarding...

Running into problems getting a front lunch box locker figured out

Just got a return phone call from Aussie Locker and email confirmation on the side carrier sizes of the cut off years of 1993 and below for the 1.6 hub bore....And apparently you do have to remove the c-clip and use the spring mod for tension, at least according to Cora at Aussie Locker.

Running into problems getting a front lunch box locker figured out

Thanks Rick...I think where I'm running into problems is the bore size of 1.5 vs 1.625. It appears that 1993 and older Dana 35 TTB's are 1.625 bore size. Is this what you mean by the size of the spider gears inside the carrier?

Running into problems getting a front lunch box locker figured out

I'm trying to get a front lunchbox locker installed in my 1993 TTB Dana 35. I thought I had it figured out and bought a Spartan Locker with the 1.5 bore, 27 spline, etc. But it appears that the 1993 and earlier trucks have a 1.625 bore?? Somehow I missed that and when I talked to USA Standard...

The disease continues....picked up yet another Explorer

So does anybody know if the two door 2002 Explorer Sport ever came with fender flares from the factory? Are any other models of Explorers or Sport Tracs that may have had fender flares an option for my Sport?

The disease continues....picked up yet another Explorer

Already owning an 1989 Bronco II and 1993 Explorer, I just picked up a 2002 Explorer Sport 4wd. Now all I need is a Sport Trac to complete the collection:) I'd really like to pick up a set of stock fender flares that I've seen on other older 2 door Sports. But being a 2002, is there a fender...

    Explorer ST vs Palisade Limited

The wife and I really wanted to buy a new SUV and we looked at both the ST and the high end Explorer (I think it's the platinum but I don't recall). Drove both the Explorers and were disappointed to see that adjustable pedal option are is longer offered (according to the dealer). So with the...
