    Unknown Check Engine Light Codes

I replaced Fuse 14, the PCM/ECM Power relay. I replaced the fuel purge control valve. After I replaced that part, my vehicle has stalled twice since. Now, I've cleared the codes, and will update you guys on if it's worked. Thanks for the help Peter.

Replacement struts - 2016 PIU - and other musings

Maybe manually check your tire pressure. One time I bought a Cadillac. TPMS said it had 36 psi. I kept taking it to the dealership complaining of a rough ride. After 3 times, they finally noticed the tire pressure was actually at 20. It cupped all 4 tires, and damaged my suspension by the time I...

    Unknown Check Engine Light Codes

That one didn't seem to match up with the new set of codes I've got. I am not sure why Test Mode displays DTCs in a dissimilar format?

    Unknown Check Engine Light Codes

Hi Guys, I have a 2017 PIU whose battery died from leaving an inverter on. After I replaced the battery, my vehicle now has 3 CELs, and randomly stalls when off throttle (usually at very low speeds, but sometimes I'm at full speed). A lot of warnings pop up on the screen when it happens (which...

    PIU AC Outlets

Hey All, I'm wondering if it is possible to get alternating current out of the PIU. Other Explorers like the Limited, Platinum, etc have 110V outlets throughout the vehicle. Do those vehicles possess a transformer that the PIU does not? I'm looking to hardwire my flashlight charger/laptop...

Damaged Fuse Box, no Ignition Power!

After replacing the main fuse, all that I needed was the tune. It starts up and runs perfectly now!

Damaged Fuse Box, no Ignition Power!

It turns out the main fuse located beneath the Battery Junction Box was blown. PEC manufactures it, and its part number is 3729. If anyone ever blows it and is looking to replace it, Ford will just replace your BJB. The fuse can be pulled from 2016+ Explorers.

Damaged Fuse Box, no Ignition Power!

After looking at the wiring diagram.. Power goes from the battery to the Cabin BCM via a yellow/red wire. My yellow/red wire is tapped into for the remote start system. The remote start system is getting power. When I remove the wiring harness from the BCM, the wiring harness is still getting...

Damaged Fuse Box, no Ignition Power!

    It doesn't have chipped keys.

Damaged Fuse Box, no Ignition Power!

After replacing the BCM with one that is well matched to mine, I'm still experiencing the same problems. I am not getting power to the ignition through the stock wiring harness. There could be other things that aren't getting power, but I'm not sure yet of everything. The ignition doesn't...

Damaged Fuse Box, no Ignition Power!

My electrical problem sounds basically identical to another guy's problem with a blown IOD (Ignition Off Draw) fuse. Only the radio, instrument cluster, and a couple of other things get power (only 3 fuses get continuous power out of the entire cabin BCM). However, newer Explorers don't have IOD...

Damaged Fuse Box, no Ignition Power!

The BCM I put in was Multifunction Module HU5T-15604, sub code FAP. From what the dealership said, this matched the part number required based on my VIN. I'm sorry if I seem frustrated, but I really do appreciate your help. I certainly agree that the BCM could be the reason that the starter...

Damaged Fuse Box, no Ignition Power!

It can't be programmed until I fix the power problem

Damaged Fuse Box, no Ignition Power!

I've got the right BCM in, but can't program it until I get power going.

Damaged Fuse Box, no Ignition Power!

So far, it looks like the remote start module is still working. The problem seems to be that continuous power is not being sent through the wiring harness to the ignition. I provided direct power to the ignition, while also turning on accessory power, but it still doesn't start. It seems like...

Damaged Fuse Box, no Ignition Power!

Yep, that's why I'm here. The dealership says that the firmware needs to be updated for the new BCM, despite not having chipped keys. The locksmith company sure thought that they provided the service, but I won't be able to see until I fix the electrical problem at hand.

Damaged Fuse Box, no Ignition Power!

From what I understand, they are able to program the BCM and PCM to communicate together through the OBD2 port. They are also able to disable the PEPS system.

Damaged Fuse Box, no Ignition Power!

After calling Ford, you can get a new BCM for $230. It costs another $140 to program it. From what it seems, the BCM I installed should work once it is able to be tuned. I had a mobile locksmith come out to do the BCU programming, but there wasn't power for him to be able to do the tune. I...

Damaged Fuse Box, no Ignition Power!

Wow, good to know. I'm hitting up the dealership to see how much it'll cost to program the BCM. Do you remember where was selling the new BCM's?

Damaged Fuse Box, no Ignition Power!

I replaced the fuse box in the cabin, not the BCM. Do you think the BCM would need to be calibrated to a new fuse box?

Damaged Fuse Box, no Ignition Power!

Update: I pulled the ignition out. The harness has 5 wires, one being a pair of two small ones. None of the 6 wires were receiving power. I turned the ignition to the run position, and there was still no power to the wires. After I tried to remote start the car, power came on for 3 of the...

Damaged Fuse Box, no Ignition Power!

Hey Peter, Thanks for helping me out. The power wire I nicked is the one that goes from the main fuse box to the cabin fuse box. If I had to guess, it's an 8 gauge or so. It's red, and connects as a harness to the top right portion of the cabin fuse box. Where the cable was nicked, a smaller 18...

Damaged Fuse Box, no Ignition Power!

Hi Guys, I have a 2017 Explorer PIU with its stock center console wiring cut out during decommissioning. I accidentally partially drilled through the cabin fuse box as well as the power wire to it while drilling a hole through the firewall to install an inverter. I entered the fuse box in...

    2016 PIU key fob?

I wouldn't mind learning more about this as well. My 2017 seems to have an aftermarket fob from a company called Prestige, which seems to provide no benefit besides being able to lock/unlock.
