Clicking / buzzing noise inside passenger side of dash

I pulled the actuator off of the plenum, started my car, and turned on the heater. The actuator started moving. I then added some resistance to the actuator shaft and it started slipping. This leads me to believe that the actuator is malfunctioning. I called my local Napa parts store and they...

I also found this post: http://www.explorerforum.com/forums/showpost.php?p=1772793&postcount=6 from this thread: http://www.explorerforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=198380&highlight=click+dash Where Squilax links a clicking noise with the blend door problem.

"Low Washer Fluid" alert on console

Just following up on this, the problem was that the sensor was not aligned properly. The point where the wiring connector plugs into the sensor must be pointing straight up. This fixed my problem. I still need to adjust it every couple of months when it twists to the side, but at least it...

Clicking / buzzing noise inside passenger side of dash

I have a '96 Ford Explorer Limited, 4DR, 5.0 V8, not 4x4. Starting yesterday, it seems when the climate controls are activated I get a repetitive buzzing & clicking noise from inside the dash. It sounds like it is coming from the passenger side. I searched around the forums a little bit...

    96, 5.0 V8, Check Engine from O2 sensors

Side question, when I moved to Montana I had 2 of the Cats removed (1 from each side). I believe there is still 1 cat on each side of the exhaust. I also had a turbo muffler installed. Will this affect the O2 sensors when I get them replaced? Do I need the computer reprogrammed for the new profile?

"Low Washer Fluid" alert on console

Ok, so the red one is the low washer fluid level. What direction should it be pointing? MonMix said that if it is not aligned properly it will give a false reading. Last night it was sitting at about a 45 towards the drivers side. I twisted it so that it now points straight up. Is that correct?

"Low Washer Fluid" alert on console

I don't know why now, but I remember I disconnected the cruise control when I did all this. After I had removed all this stuff I realized that it was easier to get to the plugs by going through the wheel well.

"Low Washer Fluid" alert on console

Ok, so there seem to be 2 sensors on the washer fluid reservoir. One that plugs into the back of the reservoir facing towards the back of the car. The connector for that sensor comes out at a 90 degree angle. Should the connector be facing straight up and down? It was kind of 45'd over towards...

    96, 5.0 V8, Check Engine from O2 sensors

I had thought of that. This is another reason why I feel its time to replace the O2 sensors. I didn't know that parts stores would run the diag for free. I will have to call NAPA here in town and ask them about that. So the sensors are easy to replace? Do I just need a jack/stands and the...

    96, 5.0 V8, Check Engine from O2 sensors

About 5 years ago the Check Engine light came on in my '96 Explorer Limited, V8, 4DR, 2WD with 185k miles. I took it in to a local shop and the mechanic said my O2 sensors were bad. He cleaned them before putting them back in and told me that they will probly start acting up again in a couple...

"Low Washer Fluid" alert on console

About 6 or 7 years ago I replaced the spark plugs on my '96 Explorer Limited, V8, 4 door. When I did this, I took the washer fluid reservoir off for easier access to the passenger side plugs. I then put the reservoir back on. Ever since doing this I get a random "Low Washer Fluid" alert on...

    Advanced HID Install: Write-up

Sorry to reply to an old thread. FexplorerV8, were they easy to install? I live in Montana. I don't do a lot of driving at night, but night driving is somewhat dangerous because of the deer. It seems my headlights on my '96 explorer just aren't bright enough, even on high beams. My lenses...

Emergency Break light turns on while driving

I went and looked at lunch. It looks like the fluid is a little low. Also, after taking the cap off and putting it back on, the light does not seem to come on as easily. I am pretty sure its the low fluid. I did not see any obvious leaks around the master cylinder. I have also noticed the fluid...

Emergency Break light turns on while driving

I will check the brake fluid (I have seen it get low before when the pads were ready to be replaced). Where is the e-brake light switch? Is it by the e-brake pedal? I will post back with my findings.

Emergency Break light turns on while driving

Searched and could not find a post about this (search is difficult though since I can't search for a phrase). 1996 Ford Explorer Limited 5.0 V8 (not 4WD) 175,000 miles About 3 weeks ago my emergency break light on the dash started coming on. It seems to turn on when accelerating (lunging...

    MAF (Mass AirFlow Sensor) Problem

Im pretty sure I got the firing order correct. I also have a haynes, but like a I said, its buried and I cant really get to it without about 45 minutes of moving boxes around. Put in a new MAF and its running better. Still feels weird when braking and turning. Dont know how to explain it. Its...

    MAF (Mass AirFlow Sensor) Problem

I ended up ordering the remanufactured OEM part from napa for $107.99. I could not find a high performance model available for the 5.0L '96. Havent had a chance to try cleaning the wires yet. I got a can of Gunk carb cleaner that I was planning on spraying on it tomorrow morning before I got...

hight fuel consumption and loss of power

I just know that I started getting O2 sensor errors a couple years ago. They error comes and goes. Sometimes pulling the sensors and clearning them helps for a while. When I had it looked into, the sensors were about $150 each for the ford OEM. 4x150 = $600 in sensors. Much more than I want to...

    MAF (Mass AirFlow Sensor) Problem

I would have put this in the 911, but I dont have the 25 posts yet. About a month ago I noticed a little hiccup in my motor while on a trip. I had also noticed a little hiccup while going up some long hills. It would come and go, very inconsistent. I took my car into the local ford...

    installing 6.5" components in front

I have seen several people talk about installing 6.5" components in the front of their explorer but no steps on how to do it. I have a '96 Limited 5.0L. I have already replaced the HU and installed an AMP(pro installed and got ripped off). I bought a set of 6.5" components for the front...
