Ford Takes Most Recalled Manufacturer Crown For 2023

Sorry to hear that. I feel the same about GM. My ST has been reliable. Two long road trips (2,600 and 4,200), towing my trailer to move out of a house, better-than-acceptable fuel mileage even towing the trailer. The driver's door window switch, and a SODR sensor have been replaced. The rear...

    Third Brake Light Not Working

The connection is easy to access. Pull the center trim piece at the top of the rear window. The connector is to the left of center, gray wire and a yellow wire.

    Oversteer issue

I've not experienced this on mine. I keep the tires at 34 psi. There are a few decreasing-radius turns on interstate ramps here. The "advisory" speed is 25. My ST handles 60-65 with no fuss. Big concern is some idiot stopped at the bottom of the ramp.

    2022 Hood Holding Water

Mine does it if I don't park it nose-down. Not a big deal, unless it doesn't get moved often. The water blows off after a few minutes on the road. Ford has been big in aerodynamics since the first Taurus. This is probably the reason for the shape of the hood.

    Daytime Running Lights- DRL

DRLs can be turned off via Sync.

Add a circuit / fuse tap

Fuse #2 in the interior panel is in a switched circuit for the moonroof, telematics control module. According to the manual, it's a "Micro 2". You might pull fuse #2 and compare it to the fuse tap at your local big-box store. WalMart may have 'em, too.

Add a circuit / fuse tap

There are possibly too many fuse type/shape options offered. It can be confusing trying to match the type and blade spacing. I've used fuse taps several times to add components (better horn on my Mazda, radar and dash cam connections on my Limited and on my ST). The radar detector and dash cam...

Wiper blade does not go all the way down

Is "auto wipers" on? When it is, the wiper arms rest a bit higher.

Noise From Rear Door Panels ST (cracking/popping)

Mine has this issue. To me, it sounds like an electrical arc. My daughter confirmed it's the plastic panel doing some weird shift. I hate rattles and squeaks. Maybe I'll tackle this one when summer ends in November.

    Horn location

No. What I thought was the horn was the egg-crate form inside the bumper cover. I did prep the relay and connection to the battery.

    Fumoto Valve

Same here. From my '01 Ram 1500 to my '15 Mustang. However, since they're kinda slow, I don't use 'em on cars I don't change the oil on.

With auto start/stop delete, will battery last longer?

Logic says the battery and the starter will last longer. I turn the A.S.S off at every start-up. Now at 24,500 miles and 31 months. No sign of battery issues, but I've only had one battery provide any warning in the past 20 years or so. I do put a float charger on it from time to time.

    Wheel stud replacement

My Ram had a notch in the rear plate so you could rotate it around to get to each stud. Perhaps the Explorer is set up the same way.

Lift gate opening and closing on its own

Mine does this when I'm connecting the trailer. It senses movement under the bumper. Pulling the fuse will stop the shenanigans. Is it possible a critter is nosing around? Do you leave the key in it? If it's doing this with no key around, it 'bout must be the module.

    Replacement Tires

I like the Pirellis. I may look at the Bridgestone Alenza as Ultras. At least two years in the future, though. Maybe three.

360 back up camera recall 2020-2023 models - FSA 23S02

Those things are a crap-shoot. You're betting it'll fail, they're betting it won't and the odds are on their side. I've had several over the years and only one paid for itself. When I bought my Mustang, the credit union wanted $2,200 for basic coverage. I declined and put $3K in a savings...

    Not a good weekend

Many folks are surprised that animals can feel more of a connection to each other. It's heart-breaking to watch our dogs as they realize their buddy is gone. We let them participate in the funerals when we send one to the bridge. Almost every time, it seems they're remembering the romps...

    Not a good weekend

So sorry for the loss of your fuzzy-face. That's been my fear - we have a fire while the pups are in their crates. In that situation, they have no chance. I'd go in after them in half-a-heartbeat. The cats will hide, so there would be little chance for them beyond luck.

    Lovely visit to the dealer

My dealer has done the "... and they don't have me showing as an appt..." twice to me. I've learned if I don't get the text and the e-mail by the next day, it's time to call. Now they print the appointment if I'm there, e-mail and text if not.

    Explorer ST smoking on startup?

My Ram would "puff blue" on cold start-up. Oil dripping down the valve stems while it's sitting. I replaced the valve stem guides when I replaced the valve springs. As for white "smoke", that's normal on cold-morning starts.

    TPMS and rotating tires

Man, you ain't kiddin'. It 'bout wore me out taking the wheels off for the "ST" center caps. Puttin' 'em back on was worse.

Auto Start/Stop Removal Option for 2022

"Most such systems already keep the car's accessories—lights, wipers, audio system, climate control—operating as standard." There goes the battery. You'll never convince me that using a mechanical device 50 times a day wears the same as twice a day.

Auto Start/Stop Removal Option for 2022

Not buying that, since the failures will occur after warranty expiration (look at all the recalls Ford has), but that means they'll last even longer if I turn that idiotic "feature" off.
