How to bypass rear seatbelt monitors

So I've gotten further along on this. All the wiring is removed from the seats and is hooked back up to the harnesses where the seats were. Used FORScan and found the faults for left/right/center 2nd row seats. Don't know how to clear/reset the faults. Anyone have some direction where to...

Fault codes not showing up in FORScan

After removing my 2nd and 3rd row seats I reinstalled all my rear seat wiring harnesses and can't figure out how to clear the dashboard fault message and airbag icon. No faults appear with a system scan and I've gone through and reset all the available modules in FORScan. Any help with how to...

2020 XLT reset after Airbag and restraint belt faults

That didn't work. Anyone have other suggestions?

2020 XLT reset after Airbag and restraint belt faults

You may have seen my other thread regarding 2nd and 3rd row seating removal. I've gotten along in the process ok and have a remaining issue. To recap...I have removed my 2nd and 3rd row seating for the purposes of creating improved cargo and camping space. In 12 years of having SUVs I've...

How to bypass rear seatbelt monitors

So I started pulling the wiring out of the rear seats for my seat delete project. The 3rd row was no problem. The second row center seat was a little more complicated but the 2nd row left side is turning into quite a project. It's the one with the extra module under it and there's wiring that...

How to bypass rear seatbelt monitors

That's pretty sharp. 👍 How did you make your template?

How to bypass rear seatbelt monitors

And then again, the whole idea is to disconnect everything...so just the absence of the wiring may still cause a fault. (Perhaps). I'm just going to pull the wires from the seats and hook it all back up.

    Camping in Explorer

I'm not sure what you're asking but I'm trying to build my platform as low into the truck as possible, along with being level. The PI cargo areas are elevated above the spare, (obviously if it's a cargo area it's taking up some vertical height) and that's not what I'm going for. I want the...

How to bypass rear seatbelt monitors

Dropping bombs here ☝️☝️☝️ Ok, so as a FORScan rookie should I be attempting something like this? And will this follow suit for the 3 2nd row split seats as well (not captains chairs)? I know there's airbag considerations for at least the 2nd row. Not sure if the same applies to the 3rd row...

How to bypass rear seatbelt monitors

Sounds like good advice. I pulled all the seats back out of storage yesterday, I'll start pulling the harnesses soon and hopefully get the warning messages taken care of. Just out of curiosity, did you add the suggested cross brace after you removed the seats? What year is yours?

How to bypass rear seatbelt monitors

Did you need to keep the actual seat belt receivers (the female part the belt clips into) connected to the harnesses? Or can those stay on the seats?

    2020 Aviator and plywood

Yes, it was just a reply for the record. 👍. I realize not everyone has a roof rack.

    2020 Aviator and plywood

Technically the Explorer can fit a 4x sheet, but it does a number on the plastic panels at the lower rear opening and along the rear side panels as well. Lower seatbelt mounts get in the way also. You can shim it up a bit with some wood underneath to help avoid some scratching but you only...

If someone knows who those conversion companies are I'd be willing to make some calls.

How to bypass rear seatbelt monitors

I think I'm just going to bite the bullet and figure out how to remove the factory wiring from the seats and just leave it plugged in and stashed in the floor somewhere.

How to bypass rear seatbelt monitors

I ordered an ODB reader so I'll look in FORScan when it arrives. Yes, I'm aware of that. Part of why I didn't just tape a piece of cardboard over the dash and call it good. 😁. I'm looking at interceptor seats on ebay (some are local to me) but no one shows any photos with the wires. I've sent...

How to bypass rear seatbelt monitors

After removing the 3rd row bench I got a restraint belt warning message. After removing the 3 2nd row seats I got an airbag light on the dash, it's showing a little icon on the face of the speedometer.

How to bypass rear seatbelt monitors

There's nothing to plug into. The wiring goes to each seat and to remove the seat you have to disconnect the wiring. And the female end of the seatbelt is part of the seat. Bolted and wired to the seat itself. Not reasonably removable. Someone replied to a similar post with the suggestion...

    Camping in Explorer

I've tried this and the slant to the rear is not workable, you slide towards the back all night. Annoying. I also did a run with the plywood propped up about 5" to make it level at the back and it was ok, but sucking up 5" of up/down space seemed like a waste and created a smaller, higher rear...

    Camping in Explorer

I just pulled my 2nd and 3rd row seats for similar reasons. I'll be building a platform (possibly aluminum after making a cardboard or 1/4" wood template) and securing custom brackets to the existing bolt holes left from the seat removal. Then mount the decking to the brackets. It took about...

How to bypass rear seatbelt monitors

No it's pretty interwoven into the seat assembly for each of the 2nd row seats. And the 3rd row is a single connector but jumps from belt to belt to belt through the back section. Again, pretty woven onto the structure and upholstery.

How to bypass rear seatbelt monitors

Being that in the last 10 years of owning mid size SUVs I have never used my rear seats for passengers, I've decided to remove the 2nd and 3rd row seats and build out a nice cargo area (I'm a contractor and carry tools and materials all the time) and also a flat/level deck for sleeping on when...
