    2022 Explorer Towing

I suspect that it has not changed. If you look at the bottom of the pamphlet it says preliminary. I suspect that it will be revised to 6700lbs when the final copy comes out it September. I am still hoping for the V6 Explorer to be 6700lbs....

    2022 Explorer Towing

I noticed in the 2022 order guide that the Class III tow package has been replaced with a Class IV, does this mean the Explorer will get a bump in towing capacity? I noticed that the 2021 Lincoln with the V6 had already a class IV hitch with 6700lbs capacity.

    Valve Body Seperator Plate

I know, I already had it. But if you look at 1995 it has only a listing for a non gasket bonded separator plate. I think all the 5R55E 4R55E 4R44E are the same, but ford has a different part number for every year and model??? I want to get the better bonded plate, but according to the TSB...

    Valve Body Seperator Plate

Can anyone confirm that the valve body and separator plates and gaskets are the same for all 5R55E 4R55E 4R44E?? I need to place an order at my dealer for a plate with bonded gaskets, except for 1995, there is no bonded plate listing.

    Valve Body Seperator Plate

Will the revised separator plate with bonded gaskets 1L5Z-7Z490-EA work on a 1995 4r55e transmission? I think I blew out my separator gasket, and the listing for 1995 seems to only have the seperate gaskets not the bonded one.

    4R55E Popping in to Neutral

Would the next step be to buy the new seperator plate 1L5Z-7Z490-EA, or buy a transmission pressure tester? Also, if I put in the new plate, should I purchase the Pressure blow off valve 3L5Z-7M230-JA? Actually can someone confirm that 1L5Z-7Z490-EA is the bonded gasket to seperator...

    4R55E Popping in to Neutral

Fluid is new, bright red and not burnt. I replaced the valve body gaskets last summer to resolve another issue I had. As for the popping into neutral.. I guess it could be slipping. I am driving then all of a sudden, the transmission disengages from the engine. The revs go up and it doesn't...

    4R55E Popping in to Neutral

Any suggestions guys? I retorqued the valve body and swaped the EPC. Still does it. It doesn't happen very often, but when it does, it feels like the tranny drops or kicks into neutral. If I accelerate a bit more, it clunks back into gear. Does this sound like a valve body, or time for...

    4R55E Popping in to Neutral

Hello I have a 95 with a 4R55E. I am starting to have some problems with it again, and suggestions from you guys would help. The transmission still feels strong and doesn't seem to slip. However, sometimes after the trucks warms up it seems to shift into neutral. If I let off the gas and accel...

    Transmission Slips on Kickdown

Hello, I have a 4r55e Transmission in a 95 Explorer. Just today, after coming home from a long trip the transmission started acting up. It seems that if the transmission downshifts under acceleration, it goes into neutral or slips like crazy. If I release the throttle and accelerate...

No Third Gear + Tons of DTCs 4r55E - '95

**** Update***** Ok I have not dropped the pan and changed the body gaskets yet, but I took the X for a drive and played with it. Foresure no third shift. Also when I press the OD off button, the transmission seems to shift "into a really low gear" or has "a super high stall" basically...

No Third Gear + Tons of DTCs 4r55E - '95

Are there any other valve body gaskets other than the ford ones, which seem to have a history of blowing out?

Not on a road trip, just around town like 20 miles over the next week.

No Third Gear + Tons of DTCs 4r55E - '95

One last question. If there are no bad noises coming from the transmission, and I don't push it. Would it be okay to drive it for max a week untill I get the parts and time to open it up? Or should I park it.

No Third Gear + Tons of DTCs 4r55E - '95

OK so it should be a valve body / solenoid problem. Not a $$$ rebuild the whole thing problem. I know the 4r55e had a overpressure problem. One quick question, when I changed the valve body last year, I also changed the wiring harness. I noticed that the connector on the EPC solenoid had a built...

No Third Gear + Tons of DTCs 4r55E - '95

All right, it has been over a year since I have had transmission problems. The last problem was a TC lockup when it wasn't supposed to resulting in the truck stalling at every stop. I finally solved this with an ebay valve body and internal transmission wiring harness. Now the revenge of the...

T\C Sticking on - Need Help

ok, I dropped my transmission pan and pulled off the TCC solenoid connector. I'm about to take it for a spin, I'll let you guys know what happens. Hopefully it will lead via elimination to the cause of my problem. Now here is a problem I discovered. When I dropped the pan, I drained all the...

    95 EXPLORER RED-Lining and O/D light Flashing?!?!?

ok, find the plug under your hood, and then just jump that one lone connector beside the other one to the terminal in the picture. Do this while the ignition is off. Then once your aligator jumper is connected to the two plugs, go in the car and turn the ignition to on, not start. Now your check...

    95 EXPLORER RED-Lining and O/D light Flashing?!?!?

You can check the codes yourself for free with a 95. All you have to do is jump two wires on the diagnostic plug in the engine bay and count how many times the check engine light flashes. The plug on the explorer is located near the power distribution box. http://www.troublecodes.net/Ford/...

T\C Sticking on - Need Help

Back to my transmission problem...... I was looking on e-bay and I can get both the wiring harness and a valve body for less than $100. Do you think if I swap these two things, it has a 99% chance of working. I am just getting tired of dropping the pan, and creating a mess of tranny fluid, I...

T\C Sticking on - Need Help

As far as I know, Ford does not have service manuals on CD before 1992. They only started this system in 1992, before that you have to go look it up in service books. Maybe mitchel on demand or somthing else might have it??

T\C Sticking on - Need Help

ok,I'll drop the pan and pull the connector for the TCC solenoid then test drive. Wouldn't the PCM detect a ground fault on the TCC wire and throw a code? Remember I have no codes! Also before dropping the pan again, I will check the resistance of the TCC wire at the PCM to ground. I guess if...
