Swap CD player from newer PIU?

There is a kit available for the 2015 and earlier to swap in an aftermarket radio. I think Metro makes it. Likely a muchness costly option.

    Transmission Flush?

I had both of mine flushed. I tried to do the coolant drain and fill....but even after two times, simply could not get all the old coolant out. That was important to me to get the orange out and the new yellow in. I had my Ford dealer do it. Reasonable cost and I know all the old stuff is out...

    2019 FPIU 3rd Row Seats

Also, realize that installing a third row seat will require removing the rear crash bracing that's unique to the FIPU.

    2017 FPIU double-din head unit w/o sync

The manufacturer says it's only good for the earlier years....the seller site is incorrect. I haven't tried it... the '16 and later are very different when it comes to electronics, etc.... Metra Online Looking at the photos of the vehicle mentioned above, it seems to stick way out of the dash...

    2017 FPIU double-din head unit w/o sync

That kit only fits up to '15. There is no kit or easy answer to install an aftermarket radio in the '16-'19 FPIU

    2017 PIU Aux wiring

If not equipped with B/T SYNC from the factory, there is much more required to add SYNC and B/T than a simple plug. You'd have to look on the Ford Utility Facebook page (if memory serves) as there is a guy selling a harness to connect AUX.

    2018 PIU Replacement tire recommendations

I put a set of BF Goodrich Advantage T/A Sport in the original size almost 2 years ago. Well pleased.

2017 PIU - Adding OEM Headlamp Switch for Fogs

Lead tech at my local Ford store advised against this, suggesting a separate fuse and switch. When I had my bumper off to install the push bar, my '16 wasn't wired for fogs anyhow. The only connector on the bumper cover was for the outside temp. Unless something changed for '17, I'd bet it's not...

Trying to get Remote Keyless Entry on my 2017 PIU

If I understand correctly as I haven't tried this...Forscan now allows programming of the fobs. If memory serves, there's an option where you only need to press the buttons on the fobs, not enter a code in Forscan. Again, I haven't done this. I bought fobs from the dealer, and the dealer used...

Trying to get Remote Keyless Entry on my 2017 PIU

Well, according to the 2016 Ford Police Interceptor Utility Order Guide: "Simple Fleet Key (w/omicrochip, easy to replace)". At least that's how Ford sees/sells it. It's also important to remember that unless all units are keyed alike, one key won't necessarily open another vehicle, there are...

Switching Vinyl Floor to Carpet - Kick Panels?

Thanks....I put full carpet in mine back in August....glad I did!

Has ANYONE had any luck with a 4" radio swap to an 8" with full functions?

Like this, although this isn't the only company doing it. I'd expect the vehicle needs to have SYNC from the factory for these to work. Explorer (16-17') 4'' to 8'' Touchscreen Conversion w/ SYNC 3

Has ANYONE had any luck with a 4" radio swap to an 8" with full functions?

As I understand, the Maestro kits only work 2015 and earlier. I looked at this when I got my '16. If memory serves, the '16 and later electronics do not easily adapt and are often missing the correct electronic pieces to interact with aftermarket gear. The only things I have seen that work are...

Trying to get Remote Keyless Entry on my 2017 PIU

Apparently, the latest version of Forscan now allows this programming.

Trying to get Remote Keyless Entry on my 2017 PIU

Then there had to be a step that you noticed things no longer being there? In my case, I turned on "auto locks", which caused the fuel gauge to read "empty". I reverted that setting. I'm of little help short of suggesting going through one at a time again

Trying to get Remote Keyless Entry on my 2017 PIU

I would restore to the back up you (hopefully) made when you first connected to Forscan. Then, change one thing at a time. Often, changing something can mess up something else.

Could this potentially be used to program keyfobs for 2016+?

I read the same....apparently you use the program to set up the exterior door keypads and instead press the buttons on your key fobs...

    2013 PIU Horn

Very possible it was cut for siren install....and not re-connected. Get the up fitter's guide for your year, it's free and a web search should get you right to it. Speaking for my '16, it was a green wire loop that was pulled apart from the harness under the steering column to the right...

    Gauge cluster swap

The only part of that I can answer is that with Forscan you can ADD miles to a cluster, but not subtract....

2016 PIU powertrain swap to 2013

The 3.7 was not available in the civilian Explorer was my point.

2016 PIU powertrain swap to 2013

I can't see how a civilian and FPIU could have the same, naturally aspirated engine as the 3.7 was only available in the FPIU.

    Exhaust cross reference

Nope. The FPIU exhaust is one piece from the flex pipe back, and is unique to the FPIU. I had a problem with the hangers rusting off the pipes. While I can't speak to the current situation, I waited awhile for the next exhaust to come in at the dealer. At one point, the system was on a national...

"Police Rear Door Config" in BCM? Or maybe Liftgate Police Door??

    2016-18 Police Utility Forscan Settings

If memory serves, your options via Forscan are the rear door being "unlocked" with all the other doors, or separately with the blue button on the fob...

    2017 PIU ignorant newbie questions

...and the FPIUs only had a SYNC (as in SYNC "1") available. Nothing else appears in the factory order form.
