Needing some extra advice on my 2011 Explorer

Thanks for the info on the rotors, I'll exchange the ones I didn't need for the right rear ones. I went back out to check some more parts of the AC system. The Low pressure line never got cold, and the rear AC didn't get cold. I'm thinking it's going to be a expensive repair lol.

Needing some extra advice on my 2011 Explorer

I double checked the fuses and relay. The fuses are good. The relay looks good on the outside but I lack a multimeter to check if it's good.

Needing some extra advice on my 2011 Explorer

Hey mates, I did some work on my Exploder today, and part of that was checking the AC refrigerant as my AC isn't blowing cold air at all. The gauge showed that the system was full but no cold air comes out. The person helping me stated that he could hear the compressor switching on. I am not...

Possible to keep certain features after replacing a stereo?

Hey friends, sorry if this has been posted before, I did attempt to do a search and found many results for not my model car. I have a 2011 Exploder XLT and I believe it has Sync 3. There are features I like, such as getting access to climate control from the steering wheel, and getting...

Engine Swap 3.5 to PI 3.7 successfully

I am confused, my 2011 Exploder XLT came with two VVT Solenoids per bank on the original engine. If it's different, you need a different wiring harness which could be a hassle and a half. Running an engine with even one VVT Solenoid disconnected causes the engine to noticeably lose power, and...

Engine Swap 3.5 to PI 3.7 successfully

Ah I didn't know the Lincoln MKT was based on the Explorer, thanks for correcting me!

Engine Swap 3.5 to PI 3.7 successfully

The ones in the Explorers are Transverse engines, the ones in mustangs and sedans are straight engines, they are not interchangeable.

Engine Swap 3.5 to PI 3.7 successfully

You might be able to find a junkyard elsewhere that can have it shipped to you. I had considered doing that until I found a junkyard near me. It costs shipping usually but expands your reach.

Engine Swap 3.5 to PI 3.7 successfully

You can only take 3.7s from another explorer. The layouts are not the same. Check put a junkyard, that's where I got my engine.

Engine Swap 3.5 to PI 3.7 successfully

I left mine alone. I don't know specifics but I was told a long time ago that messing with the Odometer was asking for trouble.

Engine Swap 3.5 to PI 3.7 successfully

My swap is finished. Original computer and wiring harness. I had a check engine light for a few sensors and a VVT Solenoid (Car had symptoms of a faulty VVT also. I was concerned that it could also be related to a different PCM and wiring harness, but I changed them anyways. Changing the parts...

More questions regarding an Engine Swap 3.5 to 3.7 I am planning.

So I did some extra work on it with supervision, and it turns out the intake VVT Solenoid for Bank 1 was indeed faulty. Cleared nearly all the codes minus O2 Sensor 2 for Bank one, which I believe is the exhaust o2 sensor. It appears to me that the original computer and wiring harness are indeed...

More questions regarding an Engine Swap 3.5 to 3.7 I am planning.

I had thought I replied, I apparently didn't. I am using original ECM and harness. The original post I referred too didn't mention the issues I have now. The car certainly has symptoms, I can feel a loss of power, it lacks oomph. Edit: Oh I did reply and reloading just didn't load the original...

More questions regarding an Engine Swap 3.5 to 3.7 I am planning.

It's all the original stuff minus a new water pump, belt, and the new engine. The post I referred to originally mentioned that it was doable with the original stuff. They never mentioned a problem like this, but I also didn't ask

More questions regarding an Engine Swap 3.5 to 3.7 I am planning.

I am back! The swap is in! I still have some problems. I have a few codes going off, and the car is feeling the symptoms. The codes are pointing to Camshaft sensors, o2 sensor, and a VVT Solenoid in bank one. I had posted in a FB group for explorers and a commenter got my anxiety up, talking...

I've been to Farmington once or twice. My Mom's side lived there for a while. My dad's side was Acoma and Jewish. Quite funny in my opinion

I'll ask him to double check all the bolting then. We just gotta get this out. The new water pump in the new engine and then the new engine in.

Is there a trick we can use to free the engine or do I need to strongman it?

I can jiggle them a bit with a bar and a piece of wood, and my cousin informed me that it's unbolted from the transmission. We are not sure if there is another bolt we are missing or not. We noticed in the new engine there are divets (I'm assuming that's the right name for em) that we assume we...

More questions regarding an Engine Swap 3.5 to 3.7 I am planning.

Hi, me again! Sorry for the delayed updates, we were unable to start until recently. We are having difficulty removing the old engine. It'd unbolted, but won't come free of the transmission. My cousins theory is it might be bolted to the front axle, but I thought I'd ask here. Once it's done...

Here is a link to the original post I am asking questions on: Engine Swap 3.5 to PI 3.7 successfully (Felt no need to flood that thread more) I've been searching for a replacement engine for my 2011 Ford Explorer XLT. I'm likely going to use a 3.7 pulled from a Police Interceptor Utility (I'm...

Engine Swap 3.5 to PI 3.7 successfully

I asked for quotes on a 3.5 and 3.7 engine, as excited and confident as I was I remain undecided. I think for me it will come down to both the price, and the results of another discussion with the their teams.
