Rusted Rockers on 93 EX Sport

Years ago I used a sheet metal break and bent myself a new rocker section similar to the tabco piece on the bottom most location. Obviously my section did not contain the fancy blends on the front and back of the stamping. I ground out the rust back to clean steel, then primed and painted...

    91 radio diagram

Did you check the fuse under the hood, there should be a 20 amp fuse that powers both the trailer towing lights and the radio. I don't remember what number it is at the moment.

    Rear Main Crankshaft Seal.

I have never tried the PTFE seals, but I have some thoughts on the issue. the manufactures claim about installing the seal without lubricant maybe valid. Firstly PTFE has an extremely low coefficient of friction (for a polymer), having the seal run dry initially may not be a huge factor...

    Why all the smoke?!?

I am sceptical about spending money on both tools, and the local autoparts store doesn't loan these tools. If I use a leak down tester and I see some leaking. How will I know if it is a crack or just a leak from 20 year old piston rings and valves? I am sceptical about the hydrocarbon...

    Why all the smoke?!?

Anime, Thanks for the tip on Zerex coolant, I did not know about the gasket eating thing. Also I can confirm that the exhaust no longer smells like raw fuel. I also have done a fuel pressure holding test. The pressure remains at 40 psi after the engine is shut off. So I too beleive the...

    retiring the navajo

Roadrunner Here is a quick explanation of torque to yeild. You start with brand new bolts torque them first to a low value. This is to start evenly seating the head. Next to torque to a mid-high torque value. At this point no yielding has happened. For sake of argument lets say that from...

    Tank Heater Vs Block Heater

My experience is this. I installed one of these over 2 years ago in my 1993 EX. It was an easy job I did it in under an hour. They are are good things to install and if you even have to junk your vehicle you can pull it off in a few minutes and install it on your next vehicle. As far as mine...

    Not idleing correctly - update:fixed

sorry for the late reply. you guys were right  I remember testing the wires for the remote starter, and when I gave the engine a quick crank it backfired. This must have been why I found two hoses that had been blown off of the little fittings that sit on the intake manifold...

    Not idleing correctly - update:fixed

Not idleing correctly Started an earlier post about how I installed a remote starter on my X. I though that the remote starter was causing the problems I'm having, but I unplugged the starter and it still happens so I think it is something else. I start the X and it immediatly revs to...

    reomte starter problems!!

I'm thinking that maybe the remote starter is not the problem. maybe it is the explorer that is now the problem when I start it it revs and dies like I said before but I noticed the check engine light comes on. i will also mention the I can keep the engine running buy using the throttle. Maybe...

    reomte starter problems!!

I though that the 93 eddie B. didn't have a security system. I was hooking up the wires like they said and I found a few wires on their "code chart" that did not read the way they said. for example their chart said that the secound ingnition wire was black and green the book said the an...

    reomte starter problems!!

I just installed my Bulldog remote starter. every thing went good and I followed thin instructions. I pushed the start botton and it started and revved to 2,000 rpms then the rpms dropped to idle speed and I heard a houd hissing noise from under the hood and it died. It does this every time I...

    volt guage not steady

Battery guage on my stock EX is acting funny. The needle wavers from the M to the L in a very fast flicking motion. This only seems to happen when the engine is just started and cold. a quick rev to 2000 rpm's stops it for about a seound or two. The problem goes away after I start driveing...

    lowrange engaging

For the times when I am on the road and need the extra power but dont want to put it in two wheel drive. a few cases I can think of are pulling our boat out of the water at the paved boat landing if I use 4x4 you can hear the front tries binding and slipping.

    manual hub question

Someone discribed the problem I am having with the stock auto hubs mine aren't unlocking when they should be and I am getting poor fuel mileage. I have done a test I tied a rag to the front drive shaft (just after the transfer case) and when I am driving I can hear the hubs some times engage...

    Excessive Gas Usage

Im I crazy or what but you guys are all mentioning 250 some miles to the gallon in your ex's But I have recorded mine at 350miles. It has a K&n and a better muffler. I took it down to empty then brought a gas can in the back and when it started to cut out I stopped and filled it.

    lowrange engaging

I was trying to get the effect that Jdraper discribed. I was just wondering if you could go in and cut a certain wirer to make the low range work independantly for 4x4. I just thought it might be possible because some people know how to do that for things like atv reverse speed limiters.

    lowrange engaging
