    Slanted roof rack cross bars

I have the exact same rack on my 2010 Eddie Bauer. I have Thule J style brackets and it holds the kayaks just fine. Almost all factory installed rack crossbars have a slight aerodynamic angle of attack for reduced wind noise and vibration.

    Considering used 4th gen - V6 vs. V8

If you can't notice 80 more HP and 60 ft# of torque on basically the same weight vehicle, there is something wrong! Both are fine vehicles but there is a difference.

    Rev limiter ? 08 4.6 Ltd? Governor ???

Torque converter stall speed has nothing to do with engine rev limiting in park and neutral. I believe that the reason for limiting engine rpm in neutral (and P) is to reduce impact loading to the transmission by preventing revving the engine to 6k and moving the shift lever from N to D.

    Sirius Radio Modules

While this may not help you, I had the exact same issue last week with my 2010 EB with a non-Nav radio. I was listening to SIRIUS on Tuesday morning. When I tried to use again on Tuesday afternoon, I got nothing but the SAT FAULT message. Since my warranty expires in 3 weeks, I went straight...

    How to drop the headliner

I pulled mine down last week to fix a leak where the Satellite antenna goes through the roof. My vehicle has a sunroof. You need to pull off the sun visors which are screwed at the pivot and clip ends. The mini console and A-pillar trim are held on with clips ( need to remove RS grab handle...

Water Leaking from Overhead Console Map Light Button

I started having water leaking from the mini overhead console on my 2010 about 6 months ago. I ssumed that the moon roof system was the culprit. I finally pulled the headliner to see if I could fix the moon roof. Much to my surprise, the root cause was a leak at the attaching bolt of the...

    reverse sensors in 2010 explorer

According to my shop manual, the 2010 Explorers use a radar system. The radar sensor is integral to the PAM (parking assist module). The PAM is mounted between the bumper cover and bumper isolater in the center of the rear bumper. Funny story -- when I first drove away from the dealership...

    2011 Explorer turning radius

Best I could find from online search for curb to curb turning circle -- 2010 = 36.8', 2011 = 39.7'.

    2011 Ford Explorer!

As far as can interpret from the vehicle site, you get a mini spare unless you get the trailer tow package. With trailer tow, you get a "Tire Mobility Kit" which is usually a bottle of Slime and an inflation can. I assume they were unable to package the mini along with the hitch hardware...

4.6L V8 - Replacing engine drive fan with electric

Look under the hood. If you see a fairly large electrical cable going to the water pump / fan area, you have a electric/viscous fan clutch.

4.6L V8 - Replacing engine drive fan with electric

Not sure about your 2006, but the engine driven fan on my 2010 has an electric clutch which I assume is only engaged when called for by coolant temperature. Since the clutch is disengaged unless required for coolant temp, I would assume that the fuel economy and/or throttle response...

PLEase HELP...ABS light, Trac Light on 4x4 light on

I had a similar issue with my 2004 about a year ago. Dealer had to replace the Advance Trac yaw sensor under the rear seat. Total cost was around $600,

    04' Explorer Electrical Problems??

Battery Drain I had a very similar problem with my '04 Explorer although I don't recall the gauges issues you are having. I disconnected the battery ground cable and inserted an Ampmeter in the circuit. I was getting around 250 Milli-amps with all accessories turned off. The shop manual...

    Odd ?? 02-05

I think I have replied to this before. The door badges were deleted as a cost reduction for 2003. At the dealers request, they were reinstated for 2004 and beyond.

Please elaborate on the technology that overcomes the basic fact that E85 contains significantly less energy that gasoline.

What year were the side badges deleted?

I believe the Side badges were deleted in 2003 as a cost reduction. They were reinstated in 2004 at the request of the dealers.

    '05 4X4 module

According to my shop manual for my 2004, there is no separate 4x4 module. The manual states that the functions are controlled directly by the PCM. I would assume that the same would apply to the 2005.

    Faulty Fuel Gauge

Make sure you take the keys out of the truck and close all of the doors when you fill up the truck. The fuel gage circuit includes an "anti-slosh" module to prevent gage fluctuations going around corners, up and sown hills, etc. With the electrical power off, the module is not in the circuit...
