    Fuel Pump R/R Questions

I am in the process of replacing the fuel pump, using the cut through the floor method. I have finished the cut, and now have a clear view of the pump fittings. Does anyone have any tips for undoing and reconnecting the fuel lines, and the electrical pigtail ? I would greatly appreciate any...

Looking for Post about Fuel Pump R/R w/pics

Can anyone direct me to the post about the Fuel Pump replacement method that involved cutting through the wheel well from the inside of the truck? It also had good pics attached as well. Many thanks in advance.:us:

    Fuel Gauge Reading Wacky

OK, so I start up my Ex yesterday afternoon, and performed a quick scan of my instrument panel as I always do. Something looked weird, and then I noticed my fuel gauge was reading completely full...and I knew that was wrong, that I had about an eighth of a tank left. As I drove, the needle...

    Wanted Electric Fan Recommendations

My water pump started screaming at me in December, so after a good flush, I replaced EVERYTHING in the cooling system, even the core. And since it was cold here, I did not reinstall the stock fan and clutch assembly. I can't tell you how much I have enjoyed the absence of that damn fan...

Screamin' Demon Coil...What plugs to use?

I ordered this thing, plus their wires, from Underdog-Performance yesterday. Does anyone have experience with this device as far as mating it with the proper spark plugs? They advertise that the plug gap can now be opened up to between 0.60 and 0.65. Should I run a single or dual platinum...

    PowerStop Brakes...Performance Feedback

OK, I just had my first experience with a Panic Stop with these new drilled rotors and ceramic pads I installed this January. I was on the interstate, doing my typical ten over speed of 80mph, when suddenly the traffic was shunted to one lane and everbody had to slow down. I went from 80 to...

    Transmission Vacuum Modulator: R/R Advice

I'm going to replace my vacmod this weekend as a matter of preventive maintenance. The Haynes manual says jack the truck up and get at it from underneath. However, I've seen posts that recommend going in from the top, removing the seats and center console. Any experienced advice appreciated.:us:

    Moog Front Springs

I just wanted to give some feedback about this product. I recently replaced my radius arm bushings, and since I had to remove the springs, I figured I would put new ones in, as they are not that expensive. I do not regret the decision. I would describe the springing action in normal driving...

Removing Front ABS Sensor from Spindle on 2WD

Does anybody know how to do this? I have removed the bolt that attaches the sensor to the spindle, but I can't budge it. Sprayed PB Blaster, pried gently with a screwdriver, no movement. The spindle is completely removed for ball joint removal right now.

    Ball Joints: Brands & Prices

I'm preparing to replace the BJ's on my X next weekend. As I shopped various sites, for instance RockAuto, I see a huge variation in prices. Is this a case where you "get what you pay for"...or is a Spicer "Red Label Service Grade" $12 Lower BJ just as good as a Spicer "Professional Grade" at...

    Rubber vs Thermoplastic Bushings...Opinions, Please

I am about to replace my radius arm bushings, and am leaning towards the Moog Thermoplastic bushings as opposed to their rubber model. I would appreciate any feedback from those who have experience with this issue. I will, of course, install the extra retaining washer as advised by virtually...

Additional Retainer for Radius Arm Bushings

First, I believe I have thoroughly searched this forum on the subject of RAB replacement. As such, I determined I don't want to do the job myself, and have made arrangements with a local shop to do the job on Friday, 1/04/08. BTW, the job was done before by Ford in January of 2001, and the...

    Ceramic Pads?

Has anyone had experience with using ceramic pads on the front rotors? I've been using AZ's "Duralast Gold" carbon pads for the last 10 years, but I'm really getting tired of all the black dust on my wheels. I'm gonna be putting on new rotors, so I figured this would be a good opportunity to...

How Far To Go With A Teardown?

This Fall I plan to completely redo my cooling system, and I thought I might as well go ahead and do the infamous lower intake manifold gaskets. Then, I got to thinking...I'll be so close to the heads, why not pull them off and have them serviced...and while I'm at it, the timing chain...

    Harmonic Balancer Puller

OK...I have been able to remove the crank bolt, but the puller kit AutoZone rented to me does not have the correct length bolts to fit my HB. Does anybody know a puller kit that will fit ?

    Harmonic Balancer Removal...HELP!

I'm attempting to replace the front seal on my 4.0, but I'm stuck at the balancer bolt...assuming it's a RH thread, when I try to loosen it, the engine turns as well. I put the serp belt back on, same problem. I put a wooden shim under the A/C pulley, no help. Does anyone know how to do...

Front Oil Seal 4.0 Leaking, Need to Replace

Has anyone replaced their FOS themselves? My Haynes manual says to use a puller (Ford tool T74P-6316-A or equivalent)...what would be an equivalent? Also, when I inspected the back side of the crank pulley with a mirror, there appears to be a rubber bonding material that is...

Opinions, Please, About this site's ideas.

I was surfing this morning about possible mods for my 4.0 mill, and came across this site http://ford40.com/ . I'd be interested in feedback, especially abot the airbox mod and the benefits of a K&N filter. I'm also considering replacing my cats...I'm not getting any obvious signs they are...

    Need Code Breaker

I just paid a rare visit to my local Ford dealer to solve the problem of pinging. Yes, I had done the SeaFoam thing and changed the MAF sensor. The problem was lessened, but not cured. To my amazement, Ford fixed the problem !!! My problem is that I don't understand what the repair order...
