Last minute door panel removal tips?

Just a guess but I'd probably disconnect the battery and put the lights on (they won't light but to drain anything left) before getting near the airbags. I also use a nylon (plastic) spatula to help between the plastic door panels and the door metal. -AC

Door whacked, I'm bummed, need ideas...

Thank you all for your great ideas. I'll go with either the chrome moulding or something from JCWhit... for now but I really like the Nerf bar idea because those suckers stick out! I like that. For once, careless slugheads will have to visit the body shop instead of me. Now, to finish it off...

Door whacked, I'm bummed, need ideas...

Thanks Steve, that's a great idea. Only, the closest one is in Seattle (300 miles away). I appreciate it though. I'm really starting to like the idea of plastic panels because they would continue to take a beating from careless fu**heads and not dent. -AC

Door whacked, I'm bummed, need ideas...

Thank you guys, it just may look pretty good on a street X. I guess if I have to paint it, since Herc is rough, what would be the best way to do it myself? I'm just thinking I don't need a paint shop, clear coating, etc. -AC

    FYI- Computer Reset

Thank you Okrazie1, now that makes sense. Still wondering however, if my radio presets are still there after disconnecting the negative terminal...should I turn the lights on or disconnect the positive side or just leave the neg side off overnight? Thank you again. -AC

    FYI- Computer Reset

Why not disconnect the positive side? Why is it always the negative side? Just curious. I have disconnected my negative side before but didn't seem to do anything. When I get back in, my radio had retained all the presets, etc. -AC

Door whacked, I'm bummed, need ideas...

I know I'm being dense...I've heard of Herculiner but don't know much about it since my X is more street than offroad. Is this bedliner stuff? Can it be painted? -AC

Door whacked, I'm bummed, need ideas...

Thanks James! That's kinda what I'm looking for, same idea at least. By the way, when I clicked that catalog link, it showed me door sil plastic, not the chrome panels on the doors....am I doing something wrong? And as for the Herculiner, hmm would look cool if it could be painted over...

Door whacked, I'm bummed, need ideas...

Thanks guys, Well, the ding is a 4-inch vertical crease where the door metal curves down. It's not big enough to dry-ice it out and not small enough to let go. :( I'm just hoping at this point that there's an Eddie Bauer trim panel that would go over it. I just don't know if the EBs...

Door whacked, I'm bummed, need ideas...

Hello again all, Well some piss-ant in a ricer (probably) parked too close and whacked my door precisely between the step rail and the plastic molding midway up the door...just had to be that spot. Well now there's a noticeable ding and I'm pissed and bummed. I don't want to go to a body...

Add A leaf and Warrior shackle Question

I did exactly that with my X. Got the 3"-lift add-a-leaf springs which lifted me only two inches and then the War153s which raised me another inch. Make sure to readjust your headlights when you're through. -AC

Loud "thump" when backing out to the right? Am I going to Xplode?

Problem solved! Well thank you for all the valuable insights guys but I'll be the first to admit when I'm a goof........turns out it was my tire hitting the very tip of the plastic guard for the side skirt. When I backed up, the tire tread would grab the very tip of the plastic and pull is...

Does the AC blow out of panel vents only???

Hi all, Just wondering...when I put the cold air on (MAX AC) it only comes out of the dash panel vents. I switched to Floor/Panel to cool my hot feet off but instead got hot air only. Is this normal? Does cold air come out only from the dash? Thanks all, AC

The Little Grill In the Dash

    Lol Stephen and fixer!

I used spray foam and it's better than Dynamat!

Good question.........the spray foam feels heavy in the can but most of that weight is liquid that evaporates as the foam dries. The end result is foam that is quite light (you could drop a basketball sized foam ball on your foot without hurt). As per the hatch, even after thoroughly foaming...

    Serious engine detonation

Thanks all and thanks Xplor.......yes, I was going uphill at nearly wide open throttle (about 55mph) on one of our hottest days (95 degrees) using 87 octane fuel. I let Ford reprogram the ECM since I don't have a Superchip but it seems they would program it for more power since advancing the...

i always found this odd about tires

Yeah...and how come computer monitors are always more than an inch smaller than what it really is? If that's the way the world works...I'm going to start telling the girls that I have a 9 incher ;-)

    Serious engine detonation

Thanks for your imput.......the detonation occurs when I'm going uphill under wide-open throttle (or near WOT)...it was really bad. If I could, I'd set the timing myself. :( Anyone else? -AC
