    Explorer Interior Shampooing

I've been pretty satisfied with using resolve high traffic spray foam on mine spray it on scrub with a semi soft scrub brush and vacum up with my shop vac. I spilled a chocolate milk shake in there last summer ( I hate that they dont put real lids on there) and basically just wiped it out with a...

coolant not venting back into overflow tank

I had a similar issue with mine when I flushed the radiator. The hose that goes back to the overflow was clogged up with gunk from the radiator. The pressure from the returning coolant pushed the hose off the nipple at the filler neck.

    Window regulator replacement

I actually replaced a drivers rear regulator today myself on an 02. with that being said something I found useful was after you get the door panel apart and gain acess to the window. I got it all the way back up and used a rubber door stop to hold it in place. then when I needed to move it down...

    oil pan mystery object

I pulled the pan on an engine one time and found about 6 of those little rings that are supposed to break off when you remove the cap on an oil bottle. I however dont think this would keep the oil from draining out. I for the life of me never did figgure out how they made it through the return...

Can anyone tell me where they think this leaks coming from? PICS INCLUDED

the antifreeze could be coming from the lower intake manifold gaskets and blowing back that far from air movement. Check the front side of the engine near the top corner of the valve cover thats where mine started leaking when the gaskets finally gave up the ghost at 220,000 miles. the oil is...

    Project Roadblock

I have to tell you good job on getting this far by yourself. I know what it's like to have to do almost every thing with no help. I myself have replaced the auto trans in mine 2 times with no help other than me myself and I and in a gravel driveway. Both times thats where she left me and thats...

    [photo diary] My 1994 explorer

That was going to be my next suggestion was to just pull the bulb out of it. Make sure all your external bulbs are working and your tires have good tread and you should be fine.

door latch "striker bolt bushing kit"

I did my doors with some reinforced rubber hose just fount a size in my stockpile that fit the bolt semi snug and put em on there. the hose was a little thicker than the originals and the door didn't want to latch. I took the bolt back off with the hose on it and ground some off with the belt...

Acts like I'm running out of gas after engine warms up

I agree that the biggest issue you have is the intake air tube. I had a similar problem with mine. Chased it for a while found a rather large say half dollar sized hole on the bottom side. I went to advance and picked up a replacement 3inch air hose for like 14 bucks did have to put a filter on...

Dead battery won't jump after 2 attempts

I have seen this problem a few times one thing that you really need to check is the battery terminals are they really corroded? If so a good cleaning might help. Also if the battery cables havent been changed in a long time? My originals lasted til last year now would be a good time to change...

    How-To: 1st Gen Ball Joints / U Joints / Spindle Bearings

I completed this project today one thing I would add to this is DO NOT take the nut on the lower joint off. I left it on there about 3 threads and used a pickle fork to remove the knuckle by driving it in from the front side and prying down on it. When I was on the drivers side I thought now...

    high idle

Are you saying you cleaned the MAF with an electric parts cleaner? There's really not a big deal cleaning it that way but you should really use a MAF cleaner. CRC brand is a good one I get it from the local Advance store. Some electric parts cleaners leave a bit of residue when they dry which...

    WTF....11mpgs in city but 18 on e-way?

My injectors were pretty carboned up. I guess from where the modulator was leaking trans fluid from when my mom had it. I asked her when I got it from her was there anything I needed to know and she said it loses about a quart of trans fluid a week and blows these hoses off every once and a...

    WTF....11mpgs in city but 18 on e-way?

Intake gaskets arent hard I did mine in an afternoon after mine went from a slight weep of coolant to a gusher. Took me about 5 hours. I think all in all the 2 gasket sets were 75.00 total and injector orings were maybe 3.50 or so. There are some good writeups on that subject around here. As...

Useless thread on Climate Control er... controls... explained.

Actually there is another reason for the A/C coming on in defrost other than sending drier air across the windshield to evaporate moisture faster. It all stems from the fact on the earlier A/C systems they did not have the automatic A/C on with defrost so with the coming of the first warm day...

CEL after changing intake manifold gaskets

Sorry so late with an update on this I found that the connectore was broken going into the sensor and thought yay this should be a no brainer replace just the sensor right???? well it did not work out quite that way. I took the old sensor off and went to every parts store open on a sunday here...

    94' High Idle problem

It seems to me that there are 2 coolant temp sensors on a 94 and 1 just goes to the gauge the other goes to the pcm. They are both located near the thermostat housiing. if the one feeding the pcm goes bad this could be your problem. I would check the wiring first. You might want to pull codes...

CEL after changing intake manifold gaskets

Thats my thinking as well 180.00 is a steep price. You can index it without the other special tools other than a volt meter which I do own as I work in HVAC. I have read how on here and a couple of other places. I just returned home from a ride along job interview yes thats just how some hvac...

CEL after changing intake manifold gaskets

Update after changing the TPS which did have a mid range flat spot in it. I'm still throwing a 214. With that being said I guess I'm going to have to replace the cam position sensor I just cant quite get over the sticker shock of 184.99 for a rebuilt one. I also was quoted a price of 64.99 for...
