    Name That Sound!

Alright folks, the verdict is in. Those who guessed the anti-rattle clips are correct! Apparently the clips aren't included with many Ford brakes, so if they weren't there to begin with, they didn't get installed at all. The reason mine weren't rattling before is because brake-dust got piled...

    Name That Sound!

I didn't install them, but from the picture you posted, it looks like those are too small to produce the 'clink' I'm hearing. What I'm hearing sounds heavier and beefier... not quite a "clUnk", but somewhere in between a clink and a clunk. Heh...

    Name That Sound!

Thanks... after a bit of research, I don't think it's the radius arms. The sound I'm hearing happens regularly on each tire rotation, increasing with speed as the tires rotate faster. It also jingles when I hit bumps. And, as I said, the regular clinking stops when the brake pedal is...

    Name That Sound!

Thanks for the responses everyone. I'm going to get under there soon and reveal the culprit. Just one question : what does "RA" stand for?

    Name That Sound!

Alright folks - let's test the power of the hivemind here... I've got a "clinking" noise coming from under the front of the vehicle. It clinks in time depending on how fast the tires are turning. When I hit bumps or potholes, it REALLY clinks and sounds like a heavy chain rattling around...

    New amp, running speaker wire

Here's the sitch: I had a couple subs years ago in my Explorer. The amp was mounted under the rear passenger-side seat. I removed the subs and cut the speaker wire, but the 12V, Remote, Ground, and RCA wires remain. Now, correct me if I'm wrong, but here's what I think the wiring is...

Name that part! (Dangly tail-pipe thingie)

Thanks.. Arco777 - I had considered a hose clamp as a solution... I think I'll try that! Your situation is the opposite of mine. I'll have to put the clamp on the opposite side, since it's not actually sliding off the link. Most likely I'll put it on the top link to keep it from sliding...

'94 exp - problems removing EGR tube from EGR valve...help!

My first time using JB-Weld. I didn't let it dry before applying, so it was a little runny. Just out of curiosity, what exactly would happen if a little JB-Weld gets inside the EGR-valve hole? It's probably dripping down the inside a tiny bit. Is there a chance of pieces of it breaking off...

Name that part! (Dangly tail-pipe thingie)

So, the rubber on this part has become loose, and is sagging to the left. This causes the metal rod that holds the tailpipe to bang against the body, making a terrible clanging sound. I can't find the part anywhere, nor do I have any idea what it might be called. Any ideas? (edit: resized...

94 Explorer Vacuum-Line madness (pics inside)

Okay, after researching the Fuel Pressure Regulator, I found it and it was the missing connection! I've plugged it into the 'octopus' now, so everything should be correct now. So now I've just narrowed it down to identifying the Brake Booster, A4LD, and Speed control. ;)

Thanks... If you have time, which notes are incorrect? Also, if I only have 5 hoses plugged into the octopus, which one is missing?

94 Explorer Vacuum-Line madness (pics inside)

Greetings! I've started learning about my Explorer, and through various DIY repairs, the vacuum lines have become mixed up. I'm following the diagram, but have a few questions. Here's the rundown: Here's the diagram. The items I can't locate are: Brake Booster, A4LD trans, FPRC...

94 Explorer - Both front speakers stopped working

I have post-market speakers and deck. The rear speakers are powered by a Kenwood amp. The front speakers are powered by the deck amp. Recently, both of my front speakers stopped working. The back two work fine. Is this an Explorer issue, or did my deck amp just burn out? Is there a...

Difference between clicking sounds when no-start

Diagnosis: It was the terminals. They weren't fastened tight enough. Dur.

Difference between clicking sounds when no-start

Thanks for the replies Battery is about a year old... If the battery turns out to be good, how does one 'jumper around' the Starter Relay?

Difference between clicking sounds when no-start

I just want to make this clear, because I think we can diagnose a problem simply by distinguishing whether we hear one click, or a series of clicks (clickclickclickclick). When I had a bad starter last week, I only heard one click. I replaced the starter and solenoid (both were jacked)...
