    Thermostatic Air Cleaner

I failed emissions visual test in CA because the hose was missing. I bought a hose that should work and discovered that the metal shroud that goes over the passenger side exhaust manifoild is missing. Can anyone post a pic of what this thing is supposed to look like? And maybe where I...

    Block full of coolant

I'll try and keep looking. I hate to spend $100+ for a fuel pump assembly when mine works fine. I'm sure that the sending unit can't be that expensive. If anyone has any ideas about this please post up. If I find any info I'll post as well...

    Block full of coolant

Having an issue with the fuel gauge. Dropped the skid plate and tank:mad: ... Moved the float arm and nothing changed (with power on of course) Was going to replace float but the float is fine. I'm guessing it's the sending unit. (the fuel pump works fine.) Does anyone have the part...

    Block full of coolant

Trans was fine! Had a service and flush- no problems. They did find a module that was soaked with oil. They cleaned it up and it shifts good as new!! yipee! Just a few more things to do and we'll be ready to go...

    Block full of coolant

I'm stumped too! I checked and rechecked everything. I did discover a small chip in the power steering pulley and that was corrected with some JB Weld craftsmanship :p: I cleaned up the frayed belt edges and took her on the maiden voyage... Issues so far... 1. Drivers side brake light...

    Block full of coolant

The belt on the on the crankshaft keeps slipping but I cannot figure out why. The belt is new and the grooves were all aligned. Seems like the belt walks forward as the engine turns...

    Block full of coolant

It's the proper v-belt but for some reason it keeps walking from the back edge of the pulley to the front and it's already getting eaten up! I was hoping to avoid dropping the whole tank... As for the 4x4, I'll first check that rear antilock light that's on and then start tearing apart the...

    Block full of coolant

Found the problem. At first, we thought it was the fender apron relay. Turned out to be the power cable. It was severely corroded. I swapped it and the car turned over with no issues. Drained the oil and swapped the filter after running for a few minutes and it starts and runs fine:D A...

    Block full of coolant

Finally back together!!:D I got it back together yesterday after a few minor stalls... Anyway, went to crank it over and it simply clicks. I'll be checking the starter and solenoid today to see fi that's my problem. Battery is brand new and I even jumped it to make sure. I do, however...

    Block full of coolant

Well after weighing the options, and judging by the overall condition of the vehicle I have bitten the proverbial bullet and ordered the heads from www.acheinc.com. $185 a pop no core, 3 mos warranty, and shipping from CA. I had an engine lined up as well but with the expense of installation...

    Block full of coolant

Turned out to be cracked heads both were cracked and unrepairable. I guess it's time to place my order. Local machine shop charged me $40 to magnaflux both heads. Wanted an additional $60 to clean and surface the lower intake manifold. And quoted $600 for a new set of heads  . I'll try...

Need technical name or part number for this item...

The little black piece snaps on. If it isn't sold separately is there a part number for the lifter? Bottom line, is it really necessary to have that plastic piece. I just pulled the heads on this 80k mile motor and the plastic piece was missing but the rods were all fine...

    Block full of coolant

That site is very informative. Thanks for the resource! I'll let you know what the local machine shops quote me... BTW, Shamaal: would you mind looking at another post of mine and possibly chiming in? "Need technical name or part number for this item... " is the title. Not too...

Need technical name or part number for this item...

    Block full of coolant

Thanks for the pic! I'll have to double check myself just to make sure. I'm thinking that the lower intake manifold bolts were simply too loose. I'll check and see what the heads run to get checked but I'm pretty sure they're ok. What do you think a simple rebuild on the heads should run...

    Block full of coolant

Goliath: I was reading your post. I think you may have misunderstood. There was a lot of water but it DID NOT come out of the exhaust pipe. There was sufficient water leaking from somewhere on the back of the passenger side of the block that it ran onto the exhaust pipe and ran down the...

    Block full of coolant

I saw that pic on an earlier post... I do not have any cracks like that so I'm going to call on Monday and see what the local shops charge-just to be safe. ( I'm going to have the lower intake manifold checked out too). My concern was the amount of water that came out. We had tried to...

    Block full of coolant

Only $60 ?!?!? Is that per head or what? I looked into buying new heads but they're not cheap and I'm tring to stay within an budget. I have yet to confirm that the trans and 4x4 parts work since the engine was broken... Anyway, I checked with www.acheinc.com and they want $180 per w/ 3...

    Fram filters?

ron2 is right. I had a friend who worked at a factory that made oil filters. He claimed that they provided a substantial amount of the filters on the market and was amused to know that people thought they were getting something different when in fact it was packaging and marketing hype. I...

    Heads, gasket, or block?

Thanks for the info. I called them and they have what I need however, they want $180 per side and offer 90 day warranty. The ebay people want $125 per side and offer a 6 month warranty. Also, I'm unsure if I even need heads. There are no signes of any physical damage at all!! Shouldn't I at...

    Block full of coolant

I thought there was only a blown gasket because when you'd try to turn the motor over the reservoir would bubble like crazy. When I took it all apart today, the gaskets were not "blown" like I had expected. In fact they looked good except for a little bit of damage between two of the cylinders...
