    The 2002 Explorers have Dana 40's for a front diff. Anyone have info on this unit, strength, R&G size. The housing looks to be larger than the 35 on my 98 Sport. It is also used under the new Expeditions. Thanks

    front diff on 2002

    I was looking at the front diff on my 2002 Expl and I am wondering what kind it is. It looks different from the dana 35 on my 98 sport. Also, I looked under a 2003 Expedition and they seem to be the same as my 2002 Explorer. The bolt pattern is not the same.

    Are the 1998 and up Explorers very rust resistant? I've driven my 98 Sport in the salt for 4 years and there is no indication of rust.

    2002 Explorer and trailer brakes

    I bought a 2002 Explorer with the class III/IV hitch. Has anyone hooked up a brake controller yet. The Explorer is prewired and the dealer said there is a "plug in" located under the dash near the steering wheel. Any help would be great Thanks Joe in Omaha

    2002 Explorer

    We just got our 2002 Explorer Eddie Bauer with the V-8 and 4x4. I must say it is a wonderful machine. It has great acceleration and rides like a Lincoln. The handling is very nice. There is no noise or vibration of any kind and so far we are getting 17 mpg in town and 22mpg on the highway.
