5.0 Lean codes after Torque Monsters and Intake Spacer Install

It is. I had to modify it's top vacuum line so that it would sit right with the spacer.

5.0 Lean codes after Torque Monsters and Intake Spacer Install

I RTVed both gaskets to the spacer so I know it is in the right place, I have torqued everything down there and taken that on and off twice with no luck. I appreciate the input any other ideas? If it all comes off again what do you think about RTV between the gasket and plenum and between the...

5.0 Lean codes after Torque Monsters and Intake Spacer Install

Hey guys I am hoping you can through some light on how I might fix my 2000 v8 mountaineer. Last week I got from sea and installed Torque Monster Headers, a 1” Phenolic upper intake manifold spacer and a high amp alternator. I did the plugs and wires while I was at it. I already have a...

Torque Monster Headers Install Write-up and Review

Figured I would through in my $.02... I am at the end of day three on the install. Both headers are in place but not tightened up. Day 2 and most of 3 were spent chasing one bolt that sheared off in the head. With the age of my Mounty (10 years now) I was happy 15 out of 16 came right out...

    Need advice purchasing an Explorer

The '02 is where they became 3rd Gen explorers. In general I steer away from any new line of vehicle. A good rule to live by in my opinion is to never buy the first year of any production or major over haul.

Last time I checked Rock Auto had stopped selling it from their website. Very disappointing. Have you tried the dealer? Kyle

Check out my reverse lights and LED tail light bar!

The lights go directly to a relay. From the relay it does to the three position switch. I tapped into the stock reverse lights and that wires goes to the bottom position of the switch. So when the swtich is in the down position and the reverse lights come on, the Hellas come on. The middle...

Check out my reverse lights and LED tail light bar!

A couple weeks ago I installed an LED light bar and some reverse lights. The LED light bar is attached to the lift gate. I ran the wires up inside and next to the flex conduit for the rear wiper wires. I works with the running lights, the brake lights and the directional. The...

Anyone install aftermarket seat heater or take the seat cover off?

I would love to have heated seats in the Mounty. I was just looking at this on ebay and getting day-dreamy about it... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Add-Heated-Seats-to-any-Vehicle---NEW-Seat-Heater-Kit_W0QQitemZ120383624945QQcmdZViewItem#ebayphotohosting Anyone try this? I have leather...

    Check out my Mountaineer!

The aftermarket sub and amp sound great! I highly recommend dyno matting the area behind it. It is an amazing upgrade. One day I will get to buying the 10" thing but for now it rocks. Not the kind of base you are gonna hear putting ripples in the pavement outside but plenty loud inside. its...

Solar Panel on the roof of my Mounty

I wasn't a huge fan of how it looked on the dash and this lets me park anywhere in any orientation and have sunlight. With it permanently on the dash I would have to think about how I parked. If you mean not permanently and just plug it in and out every time I get out of the vehicle. I just...

Solar Panel I put the panel in last week. I don't want to hijack your thread so here is the link to mine! http://www.explorerforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=228962 Tough to tell how much good its gonna do until I come back from a couple months at sea and go to crank!

Solar Panel on the roof of my Mounty

So I installed a solar panel on the roof of the mounty this week! Let me first address the reason of why: I'm a college student, my truck often doesn't move for a week or so. In the summer and winter I go to sea for a couple months on end. The battery always dies during this time. If I...

    opinion needed: upgrade aftermarket headlights?

Another option is to go to a set of 90/100 Watt bulbs and beef up your headlight wiring. That's what I did and its great! 90/100s without better wiring will not be noticeably brighter. Check them out on ebay. Mine have great white light. They don't look ricey at all. The low beams don't...

    Check out my Mountaineer!

I made that. Its steel. I forget the thickness. I cut it with a plasma cutter, bent it with the torch and drilled it out. I primed it and painted it up with the color match rattle can from NAPA. Then a little clear coat and bang! I was lucky to have access to a shop at that point that I do...

The problem with the gauges is that they are both LED lit. So just throwing a Potentiometer in there to dim them doesn't work. I did find a company that makes a specific LED dimmer... http://www.autometer.com/cat_accessoriesdetail.aspx?vid=185 Not ideal. Hard to mount and expensive. I...

Rough Idle Solution REPLACE IAC GASKET

If you have a rough idle here is another tip. First try cleaning your Air Flow Sensor with an over the counter cleaner. Advanced Auto parts has one specifically for this purpose. Second, clean you IAC valve. There are plenty of posts out there detailing this but throttle body cleaner and...

I also did a lot of search for the 10" sub mod to no end. If anyone has the link that would be awesome. I honestly forget where exactly I put the wires but I did just leave them there and tuck them away.

Your right, i meant to write 3/8", and on the Torq as well. I would love to see the post on turning that into a 10" box. 10" subs are easy to come by, and that would kick!
  23. W

    Check out my Mountaineer!

Why would i mind? The box itself did not need to be modified. The sub comes out easily. You need to take the box all the way out because there is bolt going from the back of the box to the back of the factory sub. The only tough (more tedious than tough) part is getting to the box. You will...

Well, the laptop comes out when im not in the truck, I dont take it for around town errands more for long trips. Other than that the only other thing is the stereo. Everything else is stealth or hopefully not worth someone's time to lift. Nice laptop mount. I might have considered one of...
