    nssj2's SAS 5.0 Build

The problem with the first set is since it's not a full boxed frame, you will have one bolt holding on your RAs. The JD ones are nice, and I thought about using them (just didn't want to spend the extra $). If you want to spend a little extra money and get them, the adjust-ability might just be...

    nssj2's SAS 5.0 Build

Good hearing from you, and right on for adding another SAS to the list! To stay cheap, the factory RA brackets work just fine. The heim setup will give you more flex, but less road manners. All I did was swap the sides of the full size brackets and everything bolted up too perfectly. Now, I am...

What Are The Plans for Labor Day Weekend?

I can point yall in the direction of some really cool mild hiking but spectacular viewing areas, with some good camping. Anything from easy drive in to mild wheeling. Let me know a little more specifically what your plans are, and I'd be happy to recommend a few spots.

"Is it Safe to Drive?" Sonnax Article

Came across this today, and figured I'd share, as these transmissions have their fair share of problems, and I see this question on here a lot. All pictures and the article are from Sonnax, and is originally here http://www.sonnax.com/publications/transmission/titles/is-it-safe-to-drive. Is...

    I need help asap!!

I'd put money on a ujoint or your front driveshaft is toast. Makes sense because after filling the truck up (21 gallons), you're adding weight which is ever so slightly changing driveline angles. Check driveshafts for play, and if you see a lot of grease where your front driveshaft meets your...

    Trying a Recon Winch

You've perked my interest! Looks good, hopefully it doesn't get too much use :p:

    Northern Colorado spring wheeling?

Wow. At least he was able to get medical attention. I didn't even realize it was that far down! I try to just keep my eyes on the horizon lol. And again, mad props on the driving skill. Not a lot of people can put that truck through what you did. It's nice to have the armor to slide over...

    Northern Colorado spring wheeling?

Thanks for the great pictures!! I would have taken some more in return, but I was a bit busy behind the wheel haha. The trip was great regardless of crap weather. Good people, good rigs, and some fresh air, what more could you want? I even got to pull out a stuck j**p muahaha. Sadly though I...

    Northern Colorado spring wheeling?

Checking in to see if anyone has preferences on a meeting time and place for Saturday. I was thinking around 9-10am, either at the trail head or somewhere in Boulder.

    Northern Colorado spring wheeling?

sweet! Unfortunately I couldnt get off work the whole day, so as long as I can plan to be off the trail around 5, I'm still good to go

    nssj2's SAS 5.0 Build

Wow, been a minute since I've updated. With not a lot of free time, I've just been hammering out some details. The truck runs awesome. Minimal bump steer. I have a few minor things such as tire clearance to resolve. Finally got Turdle's sliders installed, as well as a front hitch. Here's a quick...

    Northern Colorado spring wheeling?

I don't remember lefthand having a gate, as I don't think it's in a natural forest. Definitely let me know if you hear anything, but its looking like that's where we are going to end up going

    Northern Colorado spring wheeling?

Hell yeah if Kelly Flatts gets opened up. Please let us know what you hear. And as far as 3rd gen wheeling, i was suprised by what they can do. It takes a good driver with a VERY good line, but that's true about most of wheeling. I went with one that has 31's and 2" spacers (top pic in the...

    Northern Colorado spring wheeling?

Oh, and Kelly flatts for sure has gates when I checked the beginning of this season

    Northern Colorado spring wheeling?

I was afraid of that too. How about lefthand canyon? That was open January last year, so I'd imagine this year would be the same. Fun trail outside of boulder. Not too difficult, but fun playgrounds. I'd say Carnage Canyon, but I've seen a stock 2WD  S10 do that trail as it's been...

Couple issues im having with 97 mounty

hopefully that worked out for the speedo. As far as the rattle, I had a similar problem. Turned out to be a heat shield on the passenger side exhaust bank, right in front of the 2nd cat converter, on the top part of the exhaust. one tack weld later and it was good to go!

    Northern Colorado spring wheeling?

It's that time of year ladies and gentlemen. I've heard some rumor of interest to do a day trip up to storm mountain http://www.traildamage.com/trails/index.php?id=228. I think we need to arrange something, as we live in some prime trail area with some great upcoming weather. Plus I've been...

    Completed Project 98 Mountaineer SAS...

Long overdue, but congrats on a successful project! I've been watching your build from a distance as time has been a luxury, and i applaud all the craftsmanship involved. Cheers on the 2nd SAS mounty in colorado :chug:

    Completed Project 98 Mountaineer SAS...

Welcome! I would highly recommended doing the dana 44 first time around, as you will probably get about 1 trail run out of the dana 30. 35's or more, plus the V8 equals strength issues in axles. Your steering setup is gunna be "fun" to fabricate lol. And read up around on this site, there is a...

    Front Receiver?

I've looked high, low, and in between, and I can't seem to come across a front hitch for the 2nd gen Explorers. Is this really true, or does someone out there know something I don't? Or am I stuck fabricating one? I've seen one for a 01-05 sport track which is exactly what I need, but I don't...

    A completely insane/stupid 4.9l swap. Yes, I'm serious.

I dig it. I noticed you were considering a propane conversion, and have seen one of these kits up on the trails. http://www.gotpropane.com/p4.html. They are street legal, and I've never heard of a kit needing to be professionally installed. As long as the tank and safety valve are DOT certified...

    auto temp. control

Rock on. fyi code 888 means pass, so if something were to crop up again, it would be an electrical component, such as a blend door, blower motor, etc.

    auto temp. control

I assume you're talking about the climate control. There should be a self diagnostic feature. Turn the ignition to RUN with the climate control on, then simultaneously press and release the OFF and FLOOR buttons, and within two seconds press the AUTOMATIC button. If this works, it should display...
