i took it for a drive i but about 20 miles on it everything felt good but it still had the rattle...... i wont be able to tell if its burning oil untill i put some more miles on it

ok i went and pulled it apart right now and the lower intake bolts were alittle lose so i re torqued them but while i had it apart i notice a pretty good amount of oil in the upper intake manifold all the way down to the lower im assuming that it came from the pcv valve i put a new one in right...

thats a good idea im going to go check that right now, did you rmake a wierd ratling sound because of it??

my 92 explorer heats up when i go up hills at about 25mph. i changed the thermostat and i got a brand new radiator for it and it still does it but not as bad with the new radiator now. i can idle all day if i wanted to and the temp gauge wont budge and i go on the freeway forever and the gauge...

thanks IZ ya one of them shattered, and it is a 8.8 with an open diff i have 4.56 gears in it so i guess it has to come out....... do i have to worry about the back lash if i take it out? or is it just pull it out and remember where all the shims went and put it back the same? thanks again

hey 410 thank that helped alot, i guess the only question now is can i get the spider gears out without pulling the carrier out?

i already have a new ring and pinion on it but my spider gears are worn/broken so i need to replace them

i need to replace the spider gears in my rearend its a 92 xlt. i have a manual but it doesnt show anything on how to do it, does anyone know the steps i need to take to change them? also do i need to take out the carrier or can i get the spider gears out with the carrier still instaled...
