    Intake Manifold / O2 Sensors

The cracked elbow at the intake is a very common issue, causes a variety of codes, and is very cheap and easy to fix.

keyless entry code and tonneau latches.

Thanks, that will be my next step, as just cleaning/lubing the latches themselves has helped, but but hasn't totally eliminated the issue.

keyless entry code and tonneau latches.

Finally got my dark blue 2003 Sport Trac today. One minor issue I hope someone can assist with. The latches on my hard tonneau cover are sticky.I WD-40'd the latches them selves, but I believe the issue is the the cables are sticky in their housings, as if I manually extend them the...

    hard tonneau latches

I'm thinking of buying a used hard tonneau cover for about $200. It doesn't come with the 4 latches that mount on bed rail, that the cover lock mechanisms engage into. Anyone know how much they cost from Ford? I'd look for them from a junk yard first, but just in case, I'd like to know new...

    '01 Job 1

I'm torn between an '03 4wd/25k miles/$15k and an '01 2wd/86k miles/$7500. Both are pristine, the '01 had oil changed every 3k with Quaker State dino, the 03 with Mobil1 Synthetic. I have read a few posts here about '01 engine failures. I'm curious about the other side of the story. Who has...

common issues to avoid in used Sport Trac

Thanks for the advice. I just put a deposit on a 2003 XLT, loaded up with only 25k miles on it, for $14,700. Has orig tires and brakes, so they will need replacing soon, but interior is pristine, dark blue paint very nice. Only issue is cables on tonneau cover have siezed so locks don't wok...

That is the sort of guidance I was looking for. I have a couple of '01s and '03's on my "short list", I think I will concentrate on the '03s. Thanks for the heads up.

common issues to avoid in used Sport Trac

Thanks for the reply. I'm not a motorhead, I don't see myself replacing a timing chain. 3 timing chains...wow. In how many miles?

common issues to avoid in used Sport Trac

Looking to buy a 2001-2004 Sport Trac, am seeing anywhere from 60k to 160k miles. I'd sure love to know the common issues, things to look out for, etc. The things that an experienced owner who maintains a vehicle properly would look out for if they were to buy another Sport Trac. All...

    New Future Sport Trac Owner

My name is Paul, I live in Wilmington, DE. I've admired Sport Tracs for a few years for their versatility, and am looking to buy a used one one. Something on the order of a 2001 to 2003. I'll use it as a pleasure vehicle, to haul kayaks, pull my motorcycle on a trailer, take the dog to the...
