What to look for when buying a 2002-2005 Explorer/Mountaineer

I came on here to check to see if buying one of these model year Explorers was worth it. Wow, I never heard so many common issues on a late model car before! I guess if I come across one with good documented maintenance history, that should be fine. It's hard to ignore the cheap prices of...

The "Squirrel" goes under the knife...

Hey Tbars4, I went ahead and added the pics to the thread. The e-brake worked well. I wish I had done a better job with the pivot device and it's operation. Also, the pivot point was in a vulnerable location. I never got around to tweaking it before I sold the truck.

Forum Sticker - Sport Trac Version

Hey guys, Here are the designs that I did for Luke: and one for fun: I also can do them with the Explorers, Sports, Rangers, etc. Again, this all goes back to copyrights and what Rick will allow. Also, I noticed that Rick has a new logo design thread with a couple really good designs...

Forum Sticker - Sport Trac Version

Hey o5dakotatrac, I do have the designs for the Sport and Sport trac's as well as the different generations. You could actually order a sticker that would be similar to your truck if this get worked out. I'm waiting to hear from the board owner / moderators on this though.

Forum Sticker - Sport Trac Version

Hey Guys, I've been a member on this board for several years. I was working with both Lucas M. and John G. from the board doing these designs, but have not heard from him lately. I will give back 10-20% of the profits back to support the board if they allow me the use of the "Explorer Forum"...

RED ALERT: [Landuse] eco suit threatens NC/GA 4 wheelers

Hey Jason, No I'm not on the board, just a member through clubs. I didn't know this was already out there, just got that email from SFWDA. Not sure if BRC is involved yet, but I'm sure they are in some ways by now. Yeah, I noticed the article was from "Creative Loafing", and didn't quite...

RED ALERT: [Landuse] eco suit threatens NC/GA 4 wheelers

This something that just came to our attention, via Southern 4WD Association. We are trying to figure out how to respond. with letters/emails and such to discourage actions from being taken. Dean Original message below Return-Path: <landuse-admin@moab.off-road.com> Date: Fri, 3 Oct...

    Making a snow truck

Tire width depends on weight of vehicle too. Wide tires tend to float over snow, where skinny tires dig in down to the road surface. Mud tires are an OK choice, BUT they need to be sipped (either by you, or bought that way), because mud tires with big wide lugs (like swampers) will not grip on...

    Divorced tcase ???

I don't think they make a divorce kit for the Early Bronco Dana 20, but they do make one for the Jeep Dana 20, but it has a passenger side front output, and it's like $550! If you're looking for strength, get the NP205, especially if you plan on using this around the farm. It may be big, but...

    T-Case Mounted E-Brake - DONE

DasFrem, It wasn't really a complete conversion kit, but more or less a combination of parts that I knew fit together, after researching the subject. Since I have a 1 ton Dana 60 rear axle, it is an 8 lug pattern. I used 8 lug rotors from a 3/4 ton Chevy Dana 44 front axle, which fit...

    T-Case Mounted E-Brake - DONE

Black Magic, I swapped out axles, so I am now running a D44 front and a Dana 60 rear axle which was converted to disc brakes. I could not find a set of calipers (cheap, I should say), with an e-brake latch, to match the thickness of the new rotors. So the only other option was a driveline...

    T-Case Mounted E-Brake - DONE

Hey 410, It may be possible to use the cable, but you would have to make a curved cable runner/track to keep it from binding. This way just seemed easier. I wish I had the $$ and support team to go to TTC, but I know the truck wouldn't last very long with only a D44 and 36 or 38" tires...

    T-Case Mounted E-Brake - DONE

Hey everyone, I know some of you have asked about how I did my t-case mounted e-brake setup, and here it is: (Oh, sorry for all the yelling.....that's how it copied in!) I USED THE DISC AND CALIPER THAT ARE AVAILABLE FROM "ALL-PRO OFF-ROAD", ON TOYOTAS. "][/URL] THE EXISTING...

Grape Ape SAS .. finally!!! '97 Ranger

NOTAJP, Dude, you caught me.....I had too much going on in my mind that I got confused. You are correct about it being on the BW unit. I WILL post a new thread once I get better picks of the whole setup. Sorry about that. More info below. Hey 410, Yeah, I'm glad I kept it too, but for...

Grape Ape SAS .. finally!!! '97 Ranger

Well, the e-brake setup is actually on the divorced Jeep Dana 20 transfer case that is behind the stock BW1354. So, I don't know how it would work with stock Borg Warner t-case. I can take a look at it and give you some ideas though,if that would help. Really not good for a whole thread if it...
