remove radiator to replace water pump?

Thanks for the input. It's the strangest thing though... I was having no leaks, and no overheating problems. Saturday, upon starting up the X the serp. belt popped off. I put it back on thinking that maybe the a/c compressor locked up but then upon starting it up again the belt popped...

remove radiator to replace water pump?

I was wondering if anyone with an SOHC had replaced the water pump and if so if I needed to remove just the fan/shroud or the entire radiator? Also, any recommendations on the best place or brand pump to buy?

    1997 Mountaineer A/C Issues

great write-up. I just found the ac problem on my '97 today...took my local guy five minutes to find a vacuum line that "Ford" had incorrectly installed last year when they replaced my intake manifold. Yep, I went all last summer with no ac because of the dealership. I'm gonna go...

ne1 know how to turn autolocks off?

I know there is a simple procedure of turning the ignition switch on and off while locking and unlocking the doors that will engage/disengage the autolock feature, but I don't know the sequence....does anyone have it for a '97?

5 Bucks to Whoever Can Diagnose Rough Idle

The last time I had my '97 at the dealer there was a new recall on the throttle body...so they replaced it for free. I wonder if '95's ever had the same recall.....

    Recalls for '97 SOHC

best thing to do is to go to ford.com and input your vin number...that will tell you if your vehicle was actually involved in that recall. you can take that data to the dealer and 'make' them fix the recalls. if they've never done it i'm sure there are at least two upgrades for you ecm...

1 of the most usefull DIY products!!!

Copy or real...I don't care. I just know that I need some of the vacuum line info that I'm hoping will be on that cd! Yeah, whoever is selling them is taking a risk, but this is the real world and how many people do you hear about getting prosecuted for 'copyright' infringement for burning...

I've got an exhaust leak on the driver's side manifold. I'm not sure if it's a factory defect or if it's due to the fact that my x was crashed on that corner...

    DMV Rejected my truck

I suppose that KY is similiar to Ohio in respect to vehicle testing. The only place in KY that requires any type of check is Louisville, and then it's only an emmission check. I'd never heard of a DMV doing mechanical checks (until now after reading this post.) Luckily I live just a few...

4.0 sohc ping plus more problems

you can try running a higher octane gas for starters. this might help out for a short time, but I'd go ahead and let the dealer look at it, since they might take care of most of the expense.

New Explorer owner, what kind of things should I be checking out/fixing?

I'd think that the 'wheel stuff' would most likely be the bearings and/or the hubs. 91-94 explorers were notorious for having front brake problems and hub problems. As for our 95+ models, the brakes have been much improved but there are still some failures in the hubs. You may want to get the...

    question about doing brake job

Yeah, I'd say about an hour for your first time....after that probably 30-45 minutes. Most of the work involves jacking up the truck and removing/replacing the tires instead of the actual brake work. just two pins to drive out on each side (you'll see what we mean once you take off the wheel)...
