O.D. and intermediate band adjusting screw threads

"Ouch ,, Hopefully the apply strut stayed in place for you . " Too early to tell. It may be dirt on the modulator pin. I have it at home now and will wait for warmer weather to tear into it. The rust on the adjusting studs got the better of me. A 12mm 1.5 die would not bit in, and a 14...

O.D. and intermediate band adjusting screw threads

Thank you for the reply. I was aware backing the stud all the way out would cause the apply strut to drop out but I wasn't aware turning it out a couple of turns could do the same. If that's the case, the damage may have been done. Hope to find out tomorrow.

O.D. and intermediate band adjusting screw threads

I am having a hard time determining the size of the threads on the O.D. and intermediate band adjusting studs with a thread gage. They are rusted. I need to chase the threads before I can adjust the servos. Anybody know what they are? Thank you!

    A4LD Servos and cover seals

Thanks for your Ultra quick reply BrooklynBay Thank you for your quick reply. Your acknowledgement that the bands have to be adjusted after servo replacement along with your reputation leads me to believe it will be a simple fix. I slept a lot better last night. If that doesn't do the...

    A4LD Servos and cover seals

My '94 4WD 4.0 Explorer (in the family since new) with about 170,00 miles on it was leaking transmission fluid from the servo covers. When checking the transmission fluid level before starting it would be good but if the transmission started to slip, I'd check it again and would have to add...

    Oil leak!!! Please help!!

I suggest you start by putting some white cardboard under it to catch the leak. Color can tell you if it is engine oil or transmission fluid.

DeRocha's Door Hinge Pin Replacement w/pics

Plastic striker bushing I did the hinge pin replacement last weekend with my brothers help. Thanks to all who have contributed to those threads. While the door closed without my having to lift it up, I didn't like the sound it made. Read a thread where the plastic striker bushing was...

    ZC servo upgrade

Thanks for your reply 91Explored. Do you remember what color spring (or springs if you did the intermediate servo as well) you installed? WIT transmissions parts lists Orange, Blue and Green ones.

    ZC servo upgrade

Going to change intermediate and Over Drive cover seals out due to a major leak. Read through old posts on this and came across one from Glacier suggesting changing the Over Drive servo to a ZC and the intermediate to an AB. Is this still recommend? Vehical has a little over 170,000 miles on...

    Breakout box overlays needed

My '94 has developed a surge at cruise (about 60 mph) when running closed loop. No check engine light, so I'm assuming no DTC have been set. During open loop operation (by disconnecting the TPS or at wide open throttle) It seems to run smoother. I'm thinking one or both of the O2 sensors...

    ? on going through water

The quickest way to check for water in the oil is the "crackle test". Place a drop or two of the suspected oil on a piece of aluminum foil, heat it, If it crackles like cooking bacon or placing french fries into hot oil, it has water in it. If it just smokes it's OK.

    Visor shelf

I'm thinking of getting one of those visor shelves and was wondering if there where worth the price. Anyone reading this have one? Are they sturdy? Do you have any trouble with things falling out when cornering or braking? Does it make it harder to see out? Thanks

Front seats in 92 feel like sitting in a hole!!

Try doing a search of old posts, this is a common problem. Here's one solution: The seat in my '94 had lost some of it's shape. The problem was the foam cushion was supported by thin steel wires attached to springs. Over time, the wires cut into the foam. I solved the problem by glueing...

    Recharging refridgerant?

Let me explain. The closer the temperature gets to 32 degrees the more risk you will have that the condensate from the evaporator, instead of running onto the ground, will freeze blocking the air flow thru the evaporator.

    $20 Reward

The current design life for OEM brake calipers is now 150,000 to 180,000 miles, says Chrysler. Some Jeep Cherokee owners have reported getting 200,000 to 300,000 miles out of their calipers! Since the early 1990s, Chrysler has been using premium EPDM seals as well as phenolic pistons. So...

    Recharging refridgerant?

    1) How long does it take for the can to empty? That depends on the temperature. I added some to the sable a couple of days ago. I'd say it took at least 15 minutes. Remember, in the can the R134a is a liquid. It has to change to a gas to get out. That takes energy. It get the energy...

    AC repair ?'s and Pricing

From what you have told here, I couldn't say for sure it's a rusted accumulator. Based on my experience it's hard to spot. I had to remove my accumulator, put it in a water bath and pressurize it (with air) checking for bubbles before I could tell I had a pin hole leak and not just surface...

    ac problem

I'm getting three to four Ohms across the terminals, which, with 12 volts feeding it equals about three to four amps. Between the terminals and ground the resistance is infinate.

    ac problem

I don't know what getting "to hot" is. If you check the resistance across the two terminals on the clutch (after you remove the electrical connector) and between the two terminals (one at a time) to ground, I will do like wise on my '94 and we can compare the readings.
  25. B

    ac problem

GOOD ADVICE! I can't agree. The formula is V=IR or Voltage equals Current times Resistance. Assuming a constant 12 volts, INCREASING the resistance must DECREASE the current. Amperage and resistance are related but it's an inverse relationship. To take it to the extremes; zero...
